Wow, this was great! I know from having a breast cancer diagnosis in the US, and then, a uterine cancer diagnosis in Canada, that our US system simply sucks. In 1994 It took me 5 years to pay off the debt from just the Colorado anesthesiologist who wasn't covered by my insurance or the indigent programs I had to use after the insurance ran out. In 2007, in Canada, on a student visa, I was eligible for coverage in 90 days. As long as I paid my $52 dollars/month, I was covered for everything except a few prescriptions. I got to see the top gyn/oncologist in British Columbia and was actually CARED for. The quality of the treatment was vastly different because the Canadian system wasn't trying to make a profit for investors. They only cared about making me well.
