It would be so wonderful if Zola had a baby!! Makango would have playmate & someone he teach what he's learning. Makongo & Dalila look great. Dalila has really stepped up & is doing a wonderful job caring for Makongo. He looks so happy & healthy and appears to be thriving under her care. Dalila was the perfect mom for Makongo. I know Tamidol smiles down upon them everyday glad her baby has such a loving new mom. May this great family be blessed with health, happiness & long loving lives. 🦍🦍❤❤❤ Thank you for another beautiful video. Really appreciate you sharing. May you be blessed always. 😁🙏🏻❤

Don't think she's "spontaneously lactating". 4:04 Zola with that cute lightish colored patch of hair on her belly. 7:33 Makongo is being clingy, but we can expect that considering what he's been through, but am glad 8:55 Dalilah gently encourages him to walk so that he may get stronger in his legs and arms. If Dalila has previously had her own babies and fed them it is quite possible for her to start lactating again with an adopted baby; it’s just with females that have never had babies that it’s nearly impossible.

@sonyawilson1000 Dalila lets the baby try to walk on his own when they’re outdoors, which is great training for him. Only when he’s strong enough👶💪 will he be able to bravely face those mischievous mangabey neighbors😂. Hopefully, Zola will bring us good news soon 😍😍👏!

The ramp may not be the safest for 52-year-old Dalila, particularly with her always carrying the baby. Stairs and ropes would likely be a more secure choice for them.

Freddie at Cleveland Metro Parks Zoo has fostered 2 babies Kayembe and Jameela and spontaneously started lactating and feeding them. They also receive bottles too. Larry’s Animal Safari on YT has great videos of the Mokolo troop. ❤

I think technically Dalia can still make milk. There is a gorilla in Cleveland O Freddy who is 50 and nursing two adopted babies it does seeem that Dallas nipples are tender because I’ve seen her do the ouch thing in another video but making looks healthy and strong so he must be getting enough😊

So Zola isn’t Lomako’s daughter, but one of his mates? I guess at 10 she is considered old enough to have a baby, although I know gorilla breeding in zoos is pretty strictly controlled now. They usually won’t let a female get pregnant unless there’s a specific breeding recommendation. 9 year old Nala I believe is Lomako’s daughter by Tamidol (Makongo,s mom, who recently passed away) so presumably is on contraceptives so there’s no danger of her getting pregnant by him. The two younger adult males in the troop I’ve read have been neutered, which is why they are nowhere near as big as the silverback and look like females. It’s still a pretty controversial thing; I don’t think many zoos have done it, but it means the males can keep living in a family troop indefinitely without any conflicts with the silverback.

Kebi Moyo at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo was 8 when she had Kambera Dupe. She wasn't able to raise her. Lola is probably technically old enough to carry a pregnancy, but waiting until she's a bit older would probably work out better.

@@patriciamorgan8359 10 for a female gorilla I think is about the equivalent of 14 to 16 for a human female. So not really old enough to become a mom IMO, maybe physically (only just) but not mentally. Both species need more time to learn to “adult” and act more sensibly.

My daughter's half sister had her first at 15. Just because those parts work doesn't mean they need to be taken for a test drive.

I thought she was his daughter, but maybe not. At 9 she could likely get pregnant but is probably still considered too young. Zola is only 10 and that’s pretty young too. I think the practice now is to give them a few more years to mentally mature, so they’re more likely to be good mothers. If Zola’s pregnant it may have been unplanned, as the hormonal contraceptives they put the females on occasionally fail.

It's hard to give him milk because he is afraid of the keepers. The keepers should've bonded with him for a while at the beginning just to gain the trust. I really don't like this zoo for so many reasons, it just saddened me 😢. The structure is not even comfortable and dangerous for both older gorillas and babies. This is the worst zoo for gorillas by far.

Baby Makongo has gotten used to bottle feeding after a month and a half of training. He usually finishes a full bottle during his nighttime feeding, and during the day, he also eats some solid foods to supplement his energy.👶🦍💪

I noticed that the fur on Zola’s belly has been shaved, and she underwent a medical examination. From her condition, it seems there are no health issues. Maybe she had an ultrasound, and who knows, she might be bringing a playmate for Makongo!👏😘👶🦍♥️🎉

To explain it another way, the title of the video is the first thing we all see….and when we see “health” and “concerns” in the title, it prompts people to get nervous until they watch the video and/or read the description to get the rest of the details.
