Delivering and receiving bad news is tough for both parties in a dialogue. We trust our physicians to provide us with the best care possible and value their opinions. We put our full trust and life in their hands so it is very important how we communicate with them. I think that patient-physician communication is always something that can be improved, and should be constantly worked on in order to improve care. I think that the exercises that these young physicians are doing is vitally important to their careers. It can be hard delivering life changing news, so I think it is wonderfully that they are practicing so that when it comes time to actually having to do it, they can do it as effectively and professional as possible. Practicing is a great way to work out the kinks and be prepared to deal with any situation. Using positive and negative feedback and critique is valuable in the whole learning process. I believe that this not only helps the patients because you can help them feel comfortable and deal with a diagnosis but also the physicians because they will feel better knowing they are doing the best job they can. As a patient myself, I know that a good doctor can really keep me on the positive side and help me push through a tough diagnosis. Speaking from experience, when a physician can deliver devastating news in a comforting, caring, and most importantly professional way, the patient will feel better and more positive about the diagnosis.

I found this video very incredible. This video shows the dilemma a health care professionals have to pass in situation like this which is common in medical field. Delivering and receiving bad news is always tough for both sides no matter in reel life or in real life. The ethical component that I would like to highlight here is notion for respect for autonomy. Since every patient put their life in hands of doctors, its moral responsibility of doctors to show respect by telling patients the truth no matter that are sweet or bitter news. Furthermore, I would like to highlight what deontologist says about people have a duty to act accordingly, regardless of the good or bad consequences that may be produced. Hence, I think the video trying to show that no matter there are emotions and attachment involved with patients and delivering a bad or sad news can be extremely uncomfortable and stressful, being a doctor you have to do what you are morally obliged to do. A good communication and way a doctor releases these sorts of information to patients plays an important role. I think it’s great how these young doctors are rehearsing now so that in near future they can perform their duties ethically and professionally. Practice makes a man perfect and helps us to tackle any cases received upon. A good doctor should be able to deliver most overwhelming news to patients in comforting and calm manner so that a patient can keep themselves more on the positive side of the diagnosis and be able to hold themselves back in life.

I would have a nervous and mental break down if I was told I had cancer.

A positive screening is bad news good news.... it’s a screening finding, and screening saves lives. “Let’s keep this in perspective, we will schedule a biopsy, and if needed we will treat you ! We know how to handle this. What are you feeling right now?”

Delivering bad news is tough in every medical profession. If doctors are not able to feel confident in giving bad news, people might not trust their doctors to give them news of any kind. Practicing this method though may help upcoming doctors become comfortable in giving bad news and dealing with the situations that can arise from those conversations with patients. Most of the bad news that a doctor has to deliver is life changing and most people aren't ready for something like that to happen. So when something does happen that is life changing, having a doctor that knows what they are doing and is confident in how to proceed in turning the bad news around is always comforting to a patient.

Sorry doctor is not your fault, the drugs companies are placing the health care out of the hands of poor people. They must make millions out of sick people. They should train ON GIVING THE PATIENTS THE BAD NEWS ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR HER 2 HRS VISIT. IT IS 500 DOLLARS FOR THE DOCTOR VISIT, 300 FOR THE MAMO, 100 FOR THE NURSE, 55 FOR TAXES, 200 FOR THE BAND AIDS, AND 500 FOR THE CLINIC.
