Health of Your Harley Leakdown vs. Compression Testing

It is a good idea to do both!
A compression test is important to show the total max compression of each cylinder, and to verify that the front and rear are not more than 10% different from each other.
A Leakdown Test shows How Much of that compression holds, vs. how much is leaking past the valves or the rings. More than 10% leakage on a bike with less than 50K miles indicates accelerated wear, most likely from too much heat.

Yep, HD gives specs for what compression should be with the ACR's NOT deactivated. However, as one can imagine, that is not going to give nearly as accurate a reading.

This is why I love my 02 FXDWG'S. If it takes a bit to start, it's good 👍. I think I forgot to mention that I also have a 2019 Triglide, different color.

Why did you not mention unhooking the TCA plug?! That omission could strip the gears on the throttle body actuator for which the only fix is a whole new throttle body(?!)

Because we had not heard of this issue before your question. I did some research and see that a few folks over the years have had this problem, and it is not confined to these tests. Conversely, we have done these tests on dozens of bike and never had an issue. It appears to be hit or miss on whether they will strip out. Thank you for the heads up! 👍😎👍 KP
