I did the 1” tank lift with the wing deflectors. For cooling and also ease in changing the spark plugs.

HI 👋 Some of the guys I ride with take there lowers off in the summer for cooling They also noticed some of that buffering went away Good show 👍 😀

Yeah, and that is a really nice option on the bike prior to 2014. Since 2014 the bikes with lowers are twin cooled, with radiators in them, so they are not removeable anymore (without a whole lot of work and modifications). KP

When I bought my 2015 FLRT a few years back it was un-ridable due to the heat on the right side. First thing I did was replace the god awful stock exhaust with a V&H system and a 1 1/2 inch deluxe tank lift. Made al the difference in the world. Tried the deflector wings and found them to be useless on a Free Wheeler. I also installed a Mustang seat (the stock seats are a terrible design, the seat pan sits directly on the frame with no cushion) and have not problem with fitting to the tank lift.

I am sorry that you seen no perceptible difference with the CDW's. They definitely do make a difference in cooling and buffeting if properly installed. If you were not seeing a difference in either they may have needed to be positioned differently. I will say got the deluxe lift kit for my 19 triglide and not sure exactly what the oil temps were running prior but I do know my oil sits at around 190-224 degrees in the southern heat. I highly recommend the lift for anyone that has a trike hands down. I don't run the wings all I have on my trike is the tank lift and so far haven't seen excessive oil temps so far. not to mention the tank lift gives the bike a lot better look as well.

I am glad you like the look of the Tank Lift and are enjoying the benefits of having it installed, but I do believe that the lower temps you are getting are lowered engine temps. If your oil is running 190-224 that is great oil temps!!! Most trikes require an oil cooler to come close to those oil temps! Thank you for commenting! MB

I've got the 1.5" deluxe lift with CDW on my 23 Triglide. Works good. Very little buffeting. Is there a secret to getting that top nut on the tank? It was the most difficult task to the install.
@DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts 8 ай бұрын
Thank you for your business, it is appreciated. 👍 Glad you are enjoying the benefits of the Tank Lift and CDW. Easy way- With the tank lifted up off the back-bone, mount each bracket to tank ears with the threaded end of the bracket facing the backbone. Install 1 washer between tank ear and nut loosely on each side. That way, the hardest part is done without it being in such a cramped area. KP

Remove the left side thigh protector. This will help the air flow very fast past the rear cylinder and out the left side...this is good for the engine, and will reduce the amount of felt hot air on the right side. What is your opinion of the mid-frame heat deflectors Harley mounts to the frame above the rear cylinder? Do they only aid in felt heat or do they also aid to cool the rear cylinder?
@DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts 8 ай бұрын
This is a quote from a written report we've done on why and how to cool down your TC and M8; Remove the left side thigh protector. This will help the air flow very fast past the rear cylinder and out the left side...this is good for the engine, and will reduce the amount of felt hot air on the right side. With the right side shield still in place, it acts like an air scoop pulling air into the space behind the cylinder...but with the left side removed, that air can now exit easily. With both installed, they are essentially two scoops that push air from both sides to collide and swirl, with no real good place for the air to exit. It is not symmetrical looking, BUT, you can only see one side at a time, so it is unlikely most will notice you have a thigh protector on one side and not the other. Doing this will cool the engine overall, so while riding & when coming to a stop you have a cooler engine than you would otherwise. However, if you are at a stop long, or in continuous stop & go, you will feel more heat on the left than the right. You can see the full written report at this link - www.dkcustomproducts.com/why-how-to-cool-down-your-twin-cam-engine-part-ii-dk-cl-tc-dn-2.htm Also here is a video on 10 low to no cost ways to cool down your ride that you may find useful/interesting - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWS3ZKx3bqd-rac Thank you for commenting! Do the deflectors make much of a difference if you have a bike w/o a fairing (like a Softail Standard)?
@DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts 7 ай бұрын
The Cooling Deflector Wings take the air that would normally come over the top of the tank and around the sides of the tank and guides it to the engine. This results in a reduction of air hitting the rider and passenger chest, which reduces buffeting/helmet & glasses bobble with or without fairings. You can see more about them at this link - www.dkcustomproducts.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=cooling+deflector+wings Please feel free to contact us with any questions; Support@DKCustomProducts.com 662-252-8828 Thank you for commenting! Really like the tank lift. I see the dog bone spacers for front bolts. I didn’t see what you used to raise the back of the tank on the deluxe option for the rear of tank lift. Is 1/2” inch max lift for rear?

Will these fit the 2024 Road Glide?
@DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts 8 ай бұрын
As for the Tank Lift we have not test fitted the 2024 Road Glide as of yet. From everything I can see it will work with your 2024 Road Glide, but you can check for clearance to be sure before ordering which we ask that any person do that anyway. Checking for clearance not only allows you to insure fitment, it also allows you to see which size will look best with your bike. It is easy to check for clearance: 1. With bike on kickstand, take the bolt out of the front of your tank. 2. Loosen (do not remove) the bolt(s) at the rear of your tank. 3. Turn your handlebars all the way to the left and raise the tank up your desired lift height to check for clearance issues. 4. Turn your handlebars all the way to the right and raise the tank up your desired lift height to check for clearance issues. Be careful when lifting your tank, you do not want to hit against something (forks, handlebars, trees, blinkers, etc.) when checking for clearance. If you have any sort of Media tray or anything like that you will want to make sure that lifting the tank does not interfere with that as well. As for the cooling deflector wings a customer has bought a set for their 2024 Road Glide. Once I hear back from him I will let you know about fitment. Sorry for any delay. Please feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns; Support@DKCustomProducts.com 662-252-8828 Thank you for commenting! 😎 MB

I bought a new Ultra in '04. Rode it for 20 years. Still have it. Yeah, it gets so hot that it will cook the inside of my leg. But I never had any engine problems. I just bought a '16 Ultra, twin cooled. I've watched a dozen videos and read several reports about cooling. I tell you, Y'all got me scared to ride it. Afraid there's going to be a nuclear meltdown between my legs.🤭😂😂

@@DKCustomProducts fuel gauge shows what it’s in the tank cause I checked it, if it makes any sense. I rode the bike to a gas station filled it up then stopped at a different one to make a phone call and never heard from her since. When I hit the starter she turns but doesn’t fire up… when also turn the bike in engine light flashes for a few times then goes off. Thank you once again
@DKCustomProducts
@DKCustomProducts 8 ай бұрын
I did not understand from your first comment that the bike would not start. First thing to do is check the engine codes. There is a vid on checking codes here- kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6WQpnuGhthji5o Once you know what the code is, you can start going thru a process of elimination of what is causing the problem, with the code(s) pointing you in the correct direction. Generally it is going to be either spark, fuel or something to do with the ECM or BCM. KP

Out of the millions of miles that have been put on Harley's using our Tank Lift/Deluxe Option/Cooling Deflector Wings, we have never had anyone have a problem with more water getting under their seat that normally does in OEM condition. IF there is something under the seat to short circuit (bad wiring) it will happen even without a Tank Lift. Here is a video you may find interesting about wiring- kzbin.info/www/bejne/bavPhoKGhKl_i6M Thanks for your comment. 👍😎👍 KP
