Why do governments all over the world make the health profession struggle despite there being a huge need for doctors & nurses all over the world!

Even SA trained doctors are facing unemployment but I get that the discussion is about foreign trained- even though the emphasis on this one should be on acreditation before Employment. May be like the Cuban trained they should be integrated with the finalists in the country fullstop.

HPCSA could work on being more efficient in handling queries and requests.

Foreign trained doctors coming to Canada also face all kinds of challenges as well. Gathering from archives and having your documentation verified can also take anything from a few months befòre your application to be registered comes into consideration. Being "disadvantaged" does not necessarily open all doors. Medical doctors proove their mettle in all the challenges they need to overcome.

Why did the medical student doctors had to go abroad to train? As far as I know even ANC knows that South Africa has VERY I mean VERY good universities to train doctors.

the number of applicants is very high. Many people apply but the number of spaces is limited. Rather than waiting for years i think some opt for studying abroad. Maybe our gvt need to consider increasing no of medical schools

In my case, I applied to about 15 universities in order: 7 in South Africa(Permanent Resident), 2 in Zimbabwe(nationality),1 in Botswana, 3 in Zambia, 1 in Malawi, and was rejected or got no response from all but 2, but they weren't accredited on the world directory of medical schools so I did not enroll there. I then started looking even further outside, and got a accepted at a recognized university in China.

HPCSA is money making business. And will give all the excuses to not register you and submit you to unnecessary exams. And then what if they fail you? Won't pass your. They shouldn't submit you to any exams, like they use to do many years ago. My husband struggle to get registration for more then 20 years. HPCSA just not interested in human rights. ( your constitutional right to work for what you are qualified). They can check very easy if you are graduated in any Medical University in the World. Just need to contact them. I lost hope long time ago, but my hart is with all of you. Wish something will change and ger registration WITHOUT BOARD EXAMS.

From the "doctors" I've seen waiting for this board exam, I am guessing the HSPA is taking so long because they have to make the exam able to be written in crayon

It's inhuman to poor people to have trained doctors waiting to join while the state refuses to enlist them. Poor people die due to lack of medical access. Nothing says failure of ANC than this thing right here

If you get 30 percent, no. But the medical and law degrees are far more content-rich in South Africa compared to in the USA for example. I can't speak for China though so I don't know.
