The first reason to move is that you can wear plaid wood cutter thermal jackets and not be thought of as different. Secondly it doesn't matter what kind of shoes you wear as long as they are boots. Third you can drive anything and no one cares. And fourth, you can howl at the moon and be in good company.

I live on the other side of the world in Bulgaria, but we face the exact same problems with city living. I bought an abandoned school building with half an acre land in a small mountainious village with 100 population. I am fixing it bit by bit and these videos really keep me inspired. @@johnsamsonjr6170 it's an old brick building with wooden floors. But there are many empty school buildings selling around for low money. There was a school reform some years ago and all small villages are now serviced with a school bus to the neighbouring town, leaving the village schools obsolete.

My husband and I moved from a huge city to a very small town in the country. We love being surrounded by nature, the fresh air, animals, and freedom to move and think in peace. We moved or all of the reasons you mentioned. Our relationship w/ the Lord has strengthened and grown exponentially here, surrounded by His creation. If anyone feels the least bit called to move to the country, do all you can to get there. It is life changing for the better in every way. We love your channel!

The best thing my parents did while growing up was to move us to the country. It was the most beneficial and impactful aspect of my life and it changed me forever. Some advice to those moving to the countryside. Please be open minded and willing to learn new and different things. Do your best to blend in, don't be an outcast. Be NICE to people and lend a helping hand to others. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Most all, never forget why you left the city.

more reasons: - space to do projects. Space for a workshop, space outside in your yard and outbuildings for big projects - less air pollution - shorter drives to restaurants or stores. I remember it being normal to drive an hour one way to go out to eat in the San Francisco area. - easy parking everywhere - it makes you learn interesting new skills, like operating a chainsaw, a tractor or a welder

For 34 years, I have been privileged to live in a small town city limits, about 12 streets from downtown, but no one would know it. My front yard is a food forest with several fruit trees, tote gardens (18) and many plants. My back yard is my play place, with a Log Cabin retreat, 2 tree houses, five ponds, a covered bridge, 2 swings for 3, a stepping-stone walkway thru the woods that goes around for 1/10 mile, 3 other bridges, a small barn, a picnic table, a small green house, about 24 raised bed gardens and a small cave with stalagmites and stalactites and a pond waterfall inside. All on a 1/4 acre lot in the city. Feels like country to me. Greenery is everywhere on my lot. I grow and cut my own firewood. I get to eat from my gardens every day. All around me are the sights and sounds of the birds and other wildlife. There is a small fountain that pours its water down a creek with a walk-over bridge, and then fills one of the ponds. My neighbors walk by, comment about its beauty and flowers, and pick Mangoes to take home and enjoy and I love it! It's a fun place to walk, appreciate what God has done for me and to enjoy his handiwork. God meant for us to learn how to enjoy country life, even if it must be lived in the city!

I like your list. For us living in the country, I love the peace from the noise. No neighbors letting their kids jump on the trampoline and scream at 11pm at night. Yes, it happened to us often. Just the total elimination of noise is amazing, listening to the creek behind our house and the crickets and birds. I do love the feeling of freedom and the awe factor, seeing the sunrise and sunsets behind the mountains. I enjoy hunting wild edibles, kayaking on the near by lake, hiking within twenty minutes. One huge benefit is having shopping and stores a half hour away. We spend much less money because there is no "I'll just run to the store" and then end up with a cart of stuff. It also has helped us prep more, we keep much more on hand so we don't run out, which has helped when the shelves went almost empty during the plandemic. I love the amazing stars, chilly summer nights, bonfires, not having to worry about the neighbors watching you all the time. Letting my son totally free range, lol, we've lived rurally for nine years and it has been wonderful. I would love to move to a warmer climate though or maybe just fall in love with winter.

I currently live in the city. What I miss about the county is the darkness. With the city lights I can't watch the night sky (stars, shooting stars, UFOs, ect). Sitting out at a camp fire on a dark night telling scary stories.

There is a lot that is good with what you talk about. I think learning to live in the present, the basics of place, people and what you do, they define your meaning in the world as you grow older. To be able to control these and master them and pass that on to the next generation: It is wisdom and it is a fulfilled spiritual life if achieved: Completing the circle (of life) is the name given. If one self-develops oneself, then possibly a rural setting is a big aid to the above? I think so, so long as one self-develops first. When I was younger, I wanted to learn about the world by travelling, and working in cities and meeting lots of people and trying lots of new things. But through that, consolidating I think leads to a rural life that is high quality and each day working on onself towards that goal of "wisdom". It seems an abstract concept, but it's very practical, a quick example would be grow more trees and keep the land healthy for nature and for humans for example. That is the problem with cities...

With the many options of homes to build, structures or to transport to the country, can you make a video about the cost, efficiency, pros and cons of various homes. I realize that geographically, some homes would be more practical then others. For example, a container home, mud yurt, brick home, wood home, etc... Also, you asked for feedback, if your viewers like the scenery of you walking on your property or not, I personally, think its the perfect back drop. As a musician, country living is beneficial for rehearsing and even recording because distance from neighbors means that you can play your louder instruments (especially drums) when the time is right and not disturb neighbors. I live in town and have to record drums in the daytime.

In the country, neighbors help each other. Every time we have a cookout and invite friends and neighbors, we are always asked “what can we bring”! A simple life!

Nice points :) one of my points to try and move out is from the Book of Revelation where it says that soon we won't be able to buy or sell if we keep love Jesus and keep His Sabbath of the Ten Commandments which is Saturday according to the Bible and governments will not allow God's people the freedom to buy and sell, unless they "comply" with the false first day of the week Antichrist's sabbath of the Catholic Church who tried to change God's Law from Sabbath Saturday to Sunday and to give up loving Jesus (because Jesus said: "If you love Me, keep My Commandments" - John 14:15 and the Sabbath, which is Saturday, is one of His commandments) and so we need to be able to provide our own food and water from the land in the country in order to not be crushed by the government and for lack of food and ability to buy food for our families give up faithfulness to Jesus and thus lose everything that really matters. So, where ever Jesus opens the way to get out, we must get out not looking back like Lot's wife. And whet ever happens, death is preferable than letting go of faithfulness to Jesus.

Depends on where you live. I’m in Kansas in the city and my neighbors have given me missing ingredients before and I’ve done the same. Also when my car went unexpectedly out of commission one of my neighbors let me borrow his car for several weeks.

God saw how unprofitable and unhelpful it was for my husband and I living rurally - as well as too isolating with nosy narrow-minded neighbors. Praise Jesus we no longer live off-grid. :) If people want to hate and abandon us for doing so, well... the Lord says Do not trust anyone except Him. He is our focus and we try to obey Him. Maybe one day, my country friends will respect that we found what works for us individually and we took self-sufficiency to the urban/suburban areas as well. :) Don't hate on the urban or suburban self sufficient people. :) I love living in the city again and God has lead us to appreciate it after being in a “desert” of country rural living. Only a few country people respected that God lead us to better things and it’s brought us closer.

I live in the city of Rotterdam in mixed cultural sociëty, in the Netherlands, one of the most densed populated countries in the world. I live alone on third floor in an appartment. My childeren are adult and live in an other city. I have a small piece of 35 metres ground to garden(wich I love to do). I do cleaningwork among elderly people but also among psychic patients and people with drug and alcohol adictions. I believe God has placed me there to bless those people. I would love to live in the countrysite. I enjoy being in nature. But you know, I don't have the money to do that, and could I find work for my living. After all, I am happy. And my biggest reason for happiness is knowing God trough Jesus Christ. What ever happens He is and holds my future. He is my wisdom ,knowledge, my future my live.

For someone happy living in the country, it doesn't sound like you have "let it go" yet. It must be interesting seeing someone out in the country making videos and quoting scientific studies about all the problems with major cities. Didn't the influx of people to Northern Idaho start about 10 years ago. Remember that "we'll never run out of water where I live" quote down the line. That said, people I know are very happy there, although traffic is becoming an issue as people move there. Country land doesn't always stay that way.

I live in California where it costs a fortune to breathe. I cannot afford to stay here. I’ve looked at Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Not to start a political debate or bashing, but I am a registered democrat who votes on the issues and not the party. My fear is that I may not be either accepted or comfortable living in a very conservative state or area. I am born again and I was a private chef for a monastery over the last 7 years. I don’t publicize my political views. I just want to live in peace and harmony. I open doors for strangers and I start conversations with strangers. I’ve also looked at Tennessee. I would like to be as much off grid as possible, grow my own vegetables and raise chickens for eggs. I make yogurt and cheese. Sometimes I make vegan yogurt and cheese. I would love to talk to someone who can guide me so that I can make an intelligent choice.

Sharon, you'd be fine in a conservative state/area. I was a democrat for many years but after some realizations I came to the conclusion that I'm a conservative at heart. Conservatives are very open minded and most subscribe to the live and let live mentality (think less government for one example). Conservatives have been given a bad rap by the mainstream outlets and the city folk. I think you'd like it more and more once you experienced living in a more conservative area. I bought my rural property about 2 years ago, to get away from the city (I have a place in the suburbs as well, in St. Louis, Missouri, I'm back here after living in Seattle for 3 years). I stay in my "city" house during the week, to work, and I go to my rural place on most weekends and I absolutely LOVE being in my rural place! I get sad when I have to come back to the city each time. The people in the rural areas are so nice and friendly! My place is surrounded by trees, I have trails on my property... we are growing our own food (as much as we can with only being there part time). It's been a lovely experience! So much so that I toy with the idea of retiring early and moving there full time. :)
