i love how in this video you're not afraid to make some mistakes and learn things while your cooking. I find that some KZbinrs don't like to admit a mistake and im glad you embrace it and it just feels so much more relatable lol

Agreed, none of us home cooks are perfect... and it’s nice to see learning and imperfection represented. “Keeping it real” beats “perfection” any time, and besides, it’s way more fun! Perfect can be boring and unachievable.

I appreciate that! I am very much on a journey to learning how to cook and I want to share that journey with you all. So if I didn't make mistakes haha it just wouldn't be representative xx

Hey, my fathers uncle had a bakery in Germany. So here are some rules my father taught me, which might help with the bread. 1. Dough made with yeast is sensitive to temperature and humidity changes: Be sure not to have any crossbreaze in the apartement while the dough is made and rests. 2. Put the dough in a bowl and cover it with a clean linen towel while it rests. .3. Leave the bread to rise in a warm place (between 25 and 35°C I'd say). Because my apartement is not that warm, I usually heat my oven a tiny bit and let the dough rest there. 4. I will look for a video which shows how to knead it. You did it quite gently, it's cute. :) Usually you use your palm and a lot more force so it's quite the workout. Hope this helps someone! Edit: the bread looks soooo good! Yummy. Edit2: So I watched some videos and woah, there is so much to learn about breadmaking!

Hey, don't let the salt touch the yeast at first, pour them on to separate sides of the flour and then mix in with your hands. Salt can deactivate yeast :-)

Hiya Immy! I love breadmaking so here's a quick tip if you're wondering how to make your seeds not fall off. Before placing the bread in the oven, simply brush the top of the bread with some unsweetened plant milk and then sprinkle on your seeds. The milk will act as a 'glue' and help your seeds stick. Some of them are bound to fall of anyway when you cut/eat the bread, but overall they should stay on if you use this technique :) Hope this helps! P.S. Gorgeouss video once again! Love this seasonal food prep videos xx

A wonderful use of celeriac is to make it into "fish" - cut into thick slices, poach in plant milk, wrap with some nori, fry or bake. Yum! It's also great raw in salads (with raisins and carrots), in soups, you name it! I'm Polish, celeriac is really big in Polish cuisine.

Bread making takes practice practice practice! I've found proofing the bread in the mixing bowl with a kitchen towel on top.. In the winter the bread in the oven with the light on. It helps with rising when it's winter and colder.
@marycharlebois66273 жыл бұрын
Somewhere, a long time ago, I learned that if you proof the bread in a bowl with a kitchen towel on top (like you described) then the bread dough can use the sides of the bowl to “climb up” as it rises. This allows it to rise more.

Tip for bread making, put the yeast in the tepid water it activates it before it gets mixed and helps it to rise. Also instead of the glass bowl you can put the dough back in the mixing bowl and drape a damp cloth over it so it doesn't dry while proving. hope that helps :)

Your videos are always SO soothing and, after a stressing day here in the US, it was just what I needed! I’ve been baking bread for the past months because my kids won’t eat any other! It’s a super simple recipe if you want to try it out and there’s no kneading involved: in a bowl mix 3 cups flower (can be all white flour or half whole wheat half white), 1 + 1/2 warm water, 1 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp yeast. Let the dough in the bowl, covered, for at least 3h or overnight. Preheat the oven at 450F with a Dutch oven with lid inside and when the oven is ready transfer the dough to the Dutch oven and cook 30 min covered and 15 minutes uncovered to create a beautiful and crusty outside. It’s delicious and I’ve tried it with The Whole wheat flour, walnuts, sultanas, orange juice and orange peel, SO good! Keep the videos coming!

Hey Immy, absolutely adore these videos! I love the raw feel of it all, it realy takes it back to the roots of cooking! I am a bit concerned about you when you're cutting up vegetables though. I think if you found a knife with a higher spine, and perhaps with a heel, you can cook more safely. Eventually you will hurt your wrists if you continously put force in when you're cutting up vegetables due to a dull(ish) knife. But do as you please, i'm just some guy on the internet ;) Keep up the great content! :)

I adore your videos, but I must beg you to find a wooden cutting board. Glass boards destroy your knives and actually end up being rather unhygenic if they get scratched. In wood, bacteria can be killed by the natural fibers, as well as bacteria moving into the wood where it dies. Glass is non-porous, so it settles into the scratches where it can't be killed or removed.
