Everyone has their own ideas and opinions on what to feed and what not to feed a dog (or cat) and that makes it hard for a person to really know what's best. Even vets have different opinions ... I just try and do the best I can by feeding my animals a high protein, good fats and low carb diet (and now bulking on the calcium). If its good for me I hope it does right by them .... and they are happy, healthy and loving animals and that's all I can ask for.

People think I’m crazy because I feed my dog half and half but I’ve noticed a huge difference in his bathroom habits and his over all energy and health adding powerful foods to his diet. Me feeding him also helps me not over eat because I try to only eat things that’s healthy and that he can eat as well. I also mix in 3 types of dog food Rachel Ray, Science Diet and one other that equals 3 ounces and mix in 3 ounces of human superfoods. He seems so much happier and healthier and both are important to improving a dogs life. I also take the time to figure out which dog treats for the day for training and I allow him to tell me which one’s he likes because they have taste preferences just like we do and I think that’s also important to notice. I grow his favorite food’s now which are yams and when it’s planting season he knows his garden and he doesn’t mess with it but he keeps guard of his food growing. It’s pretty amazing. I haven’t tried plum’s but I will be this coming week.

Thanks for the formula for how much egg shell to use. I tried a recipe for doggy meatloaf, that included 10 raw eggs and the shells ground up. I followed the plan, and made up tubs of it. The first meal they had, both had diahhorea for 2 days because of the egg shells, so I never put the shells in again. I'll now try your way. I use the herbs, spices, parsley etc in my foods too, and add garlic raw to raw meals, or cooked in their cooked meals, as it helps combat fleas as well as cancers etc.

I have been doing this...lol, now I can come out with it. Most will criticize it, but I think it's good to give them meat, eggs, , but just not so much dairy. Maybe a little cheese for training or treat. The reason I agree with him it is still good idea to feed a high grade dog food brand with it, is because unless you are really knowledgeable about canine dietary needs, strictly feeding from our tables can leave them with deficiencies in growth and maintaining good health. Also, there is a fine line between over feeding as weight gain is very bad for their health.

such terrific information and the book is life changing for you -and- your dog. No hyperbole!
Canines have been around for 15,000 years. It was in the 1900s that commercial pet food really gained popularity.In 1964 the Pet Food Institute started a campaign warning about dangers of feeding table scraps and the importance of feeding processed food to pets. Dry foods especially were marketed to the owner through shapes and colors and catchy names. Part of the message was that pet food is complicated and best left to the "professionals".

There are a growing number of small companies, frequently small natural or organic farmers working on a local level, that are filling the demand by pet owners for a healthier and more natural way to feed their animals. With the massive recent pet food recalls fresh in many people's minds, there has been increased interest in knowing what goes into commercial pet food, and many are questioning whether we are feeding our pets properly.

Cooking removes vital amino acids, other fats and antioxidants which your pet needs to thrive, your removing a lot of these, thus why you'll need to add more supplements to their diet. It's the same as dogs being fed processed foods. It's vitally important that they get a balance of calcium to phosphorus, Omega 3 and 6. The egg shells are great, however, you also need to realise the importance of raw meaty bones and what benefits they can have on your dogs overall health. Your dog doesn't need all that you feed to thrive... You should also mention that when shopping for meats, organs and bones, look for organic where possible. Grass fed and breed your own prey where you can. Treats can be made at home using natural whole foods, stay clear of ALL commercial processed pet foods (I stay clear of anything which has an "ingredients" list), vaccinations, wormers, flea and tick treatments. Do your best at eliminating stress, prescription drugs, pollutants, treated water, tobacco smoke, incense, air-fresh, environmental changes, chemical fertilisers, pesticides. We must always look at the whole picture and limit the amount of harmful things we expose dogs to throughout their lives. The Royal Society of Medicine of Great Britain reported that 90% of chronic diseases are caused from an unhealthy intestinal system primarily the colon. Research has shown that there is a connection between imbalance in the intestines and the following dis-eases: Arthritis, Candida/Thrush, Yeast infections, Asthma, Food Allergies, Psoriasis, Eczema, Acne, Irritable Bowel, Celiac Disease, Indigestion, Constipation, Lupus, and possibly to some auto immune disorders due to a weak immune System. Source: www.care2.com/greenliving/want-your-dog-to-live-to-30-add-this-to-their-bowl.html#ixzz4BfDgHTtj The oldest dog in the world had little to do with anything that compromised her immune. Your advocacy may have good intentions but not everyone have the time or resources to commit to your ideal approach. Compromised immune systems may also be due to inadequate nutritional intake due to weak digestion. Some dogs can handle kibbles really well, some cannot. Some dogs live well past their life expectancy on kibbles. I think it's more important to educate people on long-term effects on certain diets and provide a more inclusive approach to health awareness rather than telling others what to do and what not to do. I'd rather people who love their dogs to gradually improve their dog's health rather than feel guilty, overwhelmed, and place them in the shelters. I do not support low quality kibbles. I just want people to start with high quality options first (in the form of kibbles or otherwise) and improve from there. In the end, what does it matter if your dog can't properly digest and ends up expelling all the nutrition through diarrhea? Ever since I've switched to cooked food that my 14 year old dog loves, he is able to regain so much energy that people I know thinks I replaced him with a look-alike puppy! I also do NOT support questioning someone's ability to raise dogs solely on feeding standards. As long as there is no abuse, it's better than living in a shelter eating subpar donated food and risking being euthanized.

Thanks for the video. I have a question, is it ok to feed raw diets to a 3 months old siberian husky? or is it too early?

You can feed your dogs raw eggs no need to cook them and you can eat the eggshells for yourself as well !

Not every dog is the same, and w hile some do great on dry kibble for years (our retriever mix lived to be 15 on Ol'Roy, which is pretty much garbage) others do better with a more species appropriate diet. My dogs now eat a high quality dry food, wet food and raw, and look much better than other dogs their age. Knowing what I do now, our retriever cross may have lived to be 20 if we fed her differently.

Dogs are carnivores, they need raw meat and bones and thats all..fruits and veggies can be given as a treat but they dont need them in their diet. They dont need commercial dog foods either,they will get all the nutrients they need from raw meat,commercial pet food is the WORST thing u can feed ur pets.

It's no wonder that people don't know the best way to feed their pets. Almost every veterinary office offers "prescription" foods promoted by a few large companies, asking your vet for advice on proper nutrition may not get you an unbiased opinion. It's up to each person to educate themselves on their choices, as to what to feed their pets. Taking control of what goes into your pet is empowering. Do you think there is a difference in what the typical dog's diet should be vs a well-bred purebred? Many say that all this talk of allergies, sensitivities, and poor digestion etc. is due to poor breeding including diets of the lineage and that welll bred purebreds don't have many of these issues. I was just wondering what others thought.

I have to give my chihuahua girl white rice with boiled white chicken breast shredded finely with steamed veggies because now that she is older, her mouth is so small she can't chew or bite even the tiniest size of dog food they make, even if I soften it up she's a picky eater. So , I give her this, I have no problem giving her sumthn she can eat and that isn't 'table scraps' or 'table food' that I would never recommend giving to any animal.

I use this along with my own flea spray, (recipe from youtube) made of water, tea tree oil, and lavender oil. I have two beautiful happy, flea free, and healthy dogs, because they also only get fed quality cooked and raw food meals, and a few ready made dog treats. My dogs are definitely not poisoned. Sometimes when a natural cure is known for an issue, along comes the bad PR, because they won't make billions out of selling a bag full of garlic for $2, but do selling pestiside poisons.

tea tree is hard for dogs to metabolize. There are better essential oils for flea spray, do not spray tea tree on dogs.
@DEBBIES4UMJ2 жыл бұрын
@@lzperkins @Liz Perkins My dogs have only ever picked up a flea, when mixing with other dogs. In such a case, I've used my mix of 6 drops of lavender oil, and 3 drops of tea tree, mixed into water in a proper sprayer. My dogs are now nearly 12 +11, and in all those years they have remained 99.5% flea free, because they are fed FOOD not commercial chemical replacements, which I believe the putrid smell of, is what attracts the fleas.

do you put a oil when you cook an egg?
@KarenmitchellANI8 жыл бұрын
If you do cook an egg, cook it in coconut oil. Raw eggs are better, but there is no harm in serving a cooked egg every now and again. I'm not a vet and I don’t sell anything. I’m an advocate of the Prey Model & Biologically Appropriate Raw Food Diets and run a Facebook Group As Nature Intended. I’ve had holistic vets, researchers, trainers, breeders, whisperers, nutritionists and, of course, carers from all over the world join the group. If you're looking for ways to help heal your long life friend, then removing all harmful toxins from their body, making a few changes in and around the home while feeding them one of these diets is certainly a good start. Perhaps your considering on making the transition, but wish to learn how, when and what to feed, or you're looking for guidance or hints and tips on raw diet. If you wish to learn the benefits of foods suitable, how to prevent and treat different ailments, alternative medicine in treating and prevention and much more, then this informative group is there for you and your pets, 24/7 facebook.com/groups/324599134386758/

I'm curious why this gentleman is saying that you need to cook food for the dogs, because I've never seen dogs cook in the while before. I appreciate what you're saying, but that is very concerning to me.
@katherinehawk29326 жыл бұрын
David Bruce cooking food at very low temperatures increases the protein absorption in our bodies. Raw food is harder to digest and takes more energy. Forest fires do provide COOKED foods in a way. Animals in the wild eat the whole body. Mice eat vegetation which provides this when they are consumed in the wild. I am not a scientist but it has been determined that eating cooked foods has given humans the upper hand in brain development since more nutrients are absorbed.
