This has become my favorite granola recipe after making a few adjustments. I typically make half of this recipe at a time. For the dry ingredients: 2 cups of oats, a quarter cup of ground flax seed, a quarter cup of pumpkin seeds, and a pinch of salt. For the wet ingredients I use a quarter cup of zero sugar maple syrup, two tablespoons of applesauce, and two tablespoons of peanut butter as I can't get the crunch I want without a little bit of fat. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes and spread it in a thin layer on the baking sheet so it gets as crispy as possible. After the bake I like to mix in a quarter cup of dried cranberries because they get too hard when I bake them with the rest of the ingredients. The whole recipe comes out to 1300 calories (no added sugar! 52 grams of protein!) and I get 4 servings out of it. I love the recipe but I crave granola for the crunch and without the PB it comes out pretty chewy. Fortunately the PB works just as well as coconut oil and it adds a little protein. I love it in a bowl with some protein powder and milk! Thanks for the blueprint!

Made today! Used half olive oil and half apple sauce as some of my apple sauce went bad...used two egg whites as my eggs were small...evrrything else the same. I tend to be heavy handed with cinnamon. Baked for 40 minutes...very crispy when cooled. Looking forward to having with yoghurt and not buying expensive granola. Thank you.

I made this - it comes out exactly as it looks - not too stickiy together like a bar, but in pieces. The taste is fantastic - I eat it with vanilla yogurt - but any flavor will do. This is now my favorite recipe. I also added some pecans. It's so handy to take to work for a quick snack. Making it again today. Thank you! This recipe is really underrated considering how cheap it is to make, especially if you're able to buy oats, nuts, and seeds in bulk. I made it last night and I'm enjoying it with my coffee as I write this. One small tip: you might need to experiment a bit with the baking method depending on your ingredients & setup. Mine didn't come out as crunchy as I would like (flavor is still great!), so I'll try spreading it into a larger baking pan next time. I don't mind if it's a bit crumbly as I'll mostly be eating it in a bowl with Greek yogurt.

Ypu have to use a fat in order to get that crunchy taste you crave. Try using all.natural peanut or almond butter. The fat from it will crisp up when you cook it in the oven.

This is such an easy recipe to follow and the result is really DELICIOUS! I love the idea of substituting in apple sauce in the place of oil, and going to try that today. Another idea for flavoring that I have used is reducing the cinnamon to 1 tsp and adding in 1/8 cup ground coffee beans and 1 TBLsp unsweetened good quality cocoa powder. The egg white definitely helps for a crispier texture. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

Thanks Tami, glad you like this granola! Talking about the egg white, well there's no need to beat the egg too much, just to make it a bit foamy, it's easier to combine with the ingredients this way. And the texture, well, it will turn out crispy without egg too, but the ingredients won't stick to each other like this.

Thanks Jasmine! Yes, you can use some flax egg, or add a little bit more of applesauce.

The use of applesauce is genius! I also like to buy Yogi Granola, which is quite yummy, but when I have time, I make granola at home. I will try this recipe. Thank you.

Thank you So Much for this simple to follow recipe for a healthy granola that I can use to switch up the selection of ingredients as I like. This will also be more cost effective for me as I can make small batches since it is just for myself. Thank you so much AGAIN!

This is a good lighter recipe and helpful video, thank you. It did not fully crisp up for me, however, I’m guessing due to the lack of oil. The oat clumps have some give and flex to them.
