I love the info! I'm African American and I use avocado oil for elasticity, and I use herbal tea to soften and detangle. Rosemary strengthens the hair and heals the scalp.

I'm doing them all! I've become obsessed with oils and they have made an incredible difference in my hair. My hair was so dry from too many highlights/bleach and keratin (I overdid it). I do an oil mask/massage at least 3 times per week and leave it in overnight. I use cold pressed castor oil (that I've become obsessed with), jojoba or avacado oil, rosemary, clary sage and tyme essential oils. My hair is extremely fine and it works wonders on it. On days when I don't use the mask, I put a drop of oil in my shampoo. I love the Healing moisture shampoo and conditioner from Lanza (in the greenish colored bottles). Healthy hair makes me happy! Thanks for the video!

Welcome Back Tammy, so good to see you again. Great video, wonderful tips. I'm 54 and was TOLD back in my mid 40's I should cut my hair to a more "age appropriate hairstyle" that made me laugh so hard but it also made me angry, now my hair is down to mid-back LOL My hair is very thick, long and coarse but for years I've been masking and using an oil cocktail once a week, without doing it I would have no control, I'd be a frizz ball. lol and I have a fantastic hairstylist who I see every 5-6 weeks for a trim. I avoid heating tools as much as possible and thankfully I have a soft curl in my hair so I can wear it down or put it up. This was a fantastic video. Thank you for sharing your tips. Hugs, Heather

Tammy, you have beautiful hair! I agree with you on damage from chemical treatments. I had to cut off my hair a year ago and start over, now I have healthy new hair. I shampoo when I take my shower and it keeps my hair shiny, soft & strong, so my hair grows like a weed. The "sisters," rarely comment on my hair but just yesterday a caucasian woman remarked on how beautiful my hair is. Thanks, for these tips. :) I subscribed!

Thank you as always for the great tips and advice. I have coarse/curly/keratin treated hair and use an oil mask (olive oil, avocado oil, argan oil, almond oil, coconut oil, black seed oil, castor oil, wheat germ oil). I mix all of them in a new bottle and use them as a hair mask weekly. Very hydrating. Promotes hair growth.

So happy to see you back! I so agree about taking the best care of your hair. I love to heat various oils and apply them to my hair for a few hours several times a week. I like to rotate the oils and make up my own mixtures. I apply them to wet hair, put on a shower cap and then a turby towel. I do my housecleaning or reading for a few hours then I shower and shampoo the oils out. after I dry my hair I always rub some coconut, argon, marula,or olive oil into my hands and run them through my dry hair before I style it. That keeps the styling products that often contain alcohol from drying out the ends. Tammy you really have it going on when it comes to really feeding your hair and skin what it needs to be shiny and healthy from the inside and the outside. Thanks for your great tips. Hugs, Susie

So glad to see you back, missed your videos, very helpful....your beautiful as always, especially your hair. We are same age, and my hair is as long as yours. It was short once in 2005 when I first got cancer. It grows quickly. I am 75% grey but color fix's that. No Ammonia or Peroxide. Only thing different for me is cant wash as much. 2x week at most. I have problems if I do, I use a turkish rag, damp with water, wipe my hair, pat in a bit of oil on ends and its great, air dry. Hugs,

Very factual, informative video! I would like to reiterate on the need for vitamin D. I went through a bout with half dollar sized balding all over my head. After much research and many doctor and dermatologist visits, it was determined through blood work-up, that my vitamin D level was EXTREMELY low. I am happy to say that after starting a higher dose of a vitamin D regiment, (as advised by my doctor) my hair has grown back! Thank you for ALL your videos Tammy. You are such a delightful and uplifting woman!

My 64 and my hair is turning white around the bangs and sides in which I don't mind. However, the rest of my hair is fading, so I'm sort of in a dilemma. It is healthy looking though and I love 80 + super model Carmen Dell'Orefice's hair. She is so beautiful and she let her hair go white around 40. I will try the hair mask and oil treatments you spoke of in the video. I am Native American too and I love long hair. I've been growing it long again. My grandma had beautiful white hair down to her waist. I can still remember her combing it. What a vision. I always learn so much from you, thank you Tammy. I changed my photo to a more recent one. I'm happy my hair is growing fast. The snow is almost all melted here in Anchorage. Yeah!

If my hair grew in pure white ( it grows in pure white and ugly gray) and if I had bright blue eye with pink undertones in my skin...I would NEVER color my hair...I think white hair on the right skin tone if FABULOUS....I think you will see a big difference in your hair with masking and oil treatments!!

You know I have serious hair envy! Since I started watching you, I have made major alterations to how I treat my hair. I mask once a week, I visit the hairdresser more often for cut and color, and I often style with velcro rollers. Like you, I love my long hair, and I have no desire to cut it any time soon. Thank you so much for the the tip re soaking walnuts! I had just recently purchased a large bag from Costco and found them to be really bitter. I experimented with about a cup of walnuts in a glass bowl of water. I was shocked to see the water instantly turn brown! I changed out the water several times and it was discolored every time. The soaked nuts are so much better!!

My tip that I do five times a week is to eat a sheet of organic nori. It has 78% iodine. My hair stopped falling out after eating it. If I run out and stop eating it for a couple weeks, my hair will start to shed again. It's pretty amazing. I get my nori at Whole Foods. I considered trying Rogaine a year ago, but nori does the trick.

It amazing how there is still pressure and comments made about mature women to cut and/or wear shorter hairstyles. I have fine hair but alot of it. My hair takes a bit longer to dry due to the amount of hair per my stylist. I take extra care to protect and care for my hair. Im blessed to have no major medical issues and Im a regular at my stylist keeping my hair at my longer length. I also have no intention to cut my hair until I want to! I'm so happy to hear you say that you don't follow the "rules" that at a certain age we need to cut our hair. As a little girl I always wanted long hair and my mother would keep it cut so short I looked like a boy with earrings on. LOL I'm in my 40's I do my best to keep my hair in good condition and I swore I'd never have short hair. I don't care if I'm 80 and it's all grey it'll be half way down my back if that's how long I want it. You work that gorgeous hair, Ms. Tammy! Just wanted to put in my two cents... Henna is a great alternative to synthetic hair color. Of course it won't work if you want to make your hair lighter, but I dye it just slightly darker, with a bit of a red tint (I use a henna/indigo blend because henna is very red). Honestly, my favorite thing is that it thickens your hair. The henna binds with your hair protein, and that's awesome for someone like me with quite thin hair! Makes my hair way nicer, thicker, and shinier than it ever was naturally.

Great hair tips, Tammy! I bought the L'Anza neem oil because of you, and I like it very much. Everyone always talks about combing their conditioner/hair mask though their hair, which is what I've always done. However, it wasn't so great for my fine, tangly hair. I was finding it very difficult to comb though my hair, even when using a wide tooth comb. I noticed a lot of hair coming out while I was combing, despite trying to be very gentle. I finally realized this was not the best for my hair. Now, I just work the conditioner/mask through with my hands and then leave it. When I rinse it out, most of the tangles fall out and it's much easier to comb.

I read on line somewhere that you should choose your shampoo based on your scalp and your conditioner based on the hair. My scalp is slightly oily but my hair is dry. So I use to by hydrating shampoo and conditioner and ended up with great looking hair and very oily scalp. Since I started mixing it up with a protein shampoo and hydrating conditioner it has made a world of difference. For people on a budget, check out you T. J. My mom has very dry scalp and can go 3 weeks to a month without washing her hair (also: no smell). She also rollersets her hair when it's wet. She uses the old fashioned (bristly brush inside) rollers with pins. It is a real treat for her to "do" her hair, and she is getting to be 70 this year - still does her own hair, from coloring, to cutting to styling!

Skeffington4 here! Been missing you!! Nice to see you back. Excellent video - lots of great tips. I refuse to cut my hair short too and I am 48. I like it long so I work hard to keep it nice and healthy.

That's all that matters...if it's healthy...it can be any length we want it!!

You look fabulous. I agree about long hair, you can do so much with it.

I remember the first time I watched one of your videos, you took your hair out of the rollers, and I literally gasped. You have the most gorgeous hair, Tammy. I agree with your hair philosophy--who says women need to cut their hair short as they age?! Pshhh...I joke with my daughters that I will never have "old lady" hair. Thank you for sharing your tips. 💛~Shari

Thank you Shari.....I don't know what it is ...I think people think the word mom and short hair go together....as long as we are wearing healthy hair...what difference should it make the length....Good for you!

I can't do much to help my hair. Genetics & health issues have made my hair thinner than ever. Thank God for Velcro rollers! They make my hair look good. I'll have to get a hair mask. You have terrific tips. Just looking at your hair would make me do what you say. Your hair is beautiful. Amazing video that we can learn from.

I love your hair, I recently cut mine off because it became such a chore. My hair is very thick and wavy...not pretty wavy. Could only wish for hair like yours!

I wear my hair long and I'm 53. ( mine is not as long or pretty) as yours. I've had people tell me I'm too old for long hair. Glad to hear you feel the same way as I do.

Thanks Tammy. This video is extremely helpful. My hair is 'new' hair sort of. I lost all of it when I was going through chemo (eyelashes and eyebrows too). My hair came back rather wiry but after cutting the chemo curls out, 3 years later I now have my hair back. It is slightly different than it was before (Wish my eyebrows and eyelashes had come back in - they are not what they used to be at all). I have noticed that my hair seems drier now than it was before, very thick, very fine, all the same as it was pre-cancer, but it's rather frizzy. I am looking forward to trying masks, I think that should help. Your videos are always so helpful, so appreciated. You by the way have beautiful hair. I would love it if mine would grow that long!

I have two friends with the exact same situation.....masking will help...also an oil treatment on a night before hair washing will help...

Great tips! I totally agree with the bacteria on the scalp. I personally wash my hair everyday for that reason. I think it really is a misconception that you shouldn't wash your hair every day. It really depends on the individual, their scalp health and hair type. I am a hairstylist and people are shocked when I tell them it okay to wash their hair everyday. If you have an oily scalp or any scalp issues it is a must in my opinion.

We're the same age and have the same hair length philosophy - Grow as long as you like no matter your age. 20 years ago a younger co-worker and iI were sitting next to each other at the hairdresser, she asked the hairdresser "don't you think she (meaning me) should cut her long hair, she's too old. The hairdresser looked at my hair and said "why? she has gorgeous hair, she should grow it as long as she likes." HAH! I subscribed yesterday and am marathoning through your videos. Love this. Bisou!

We've missed you CMT!!! I am right there with you on the washing I have the exact same type of as you. MIne has natural volume which helps with styling and keeping a style but when I wake up it's yuck. Between the hot flashes and the curl my hair looks like i've been gardening in 100+ temps all day. I don't feel clean either if I do not wash my hair daily. I'm a stylist and I tell people that it's better for the hair to not wash it daily if they can get away with it, but I also tell them that I wash mine daily and I use good products to compensate for the loss of hydration and natural oils. :) Great video and welcome back

I totally agree...PRODUCTS matter...if we are going to wash our hair everyday! Thanks so much!!

I would like to add to your brushing rules that it's also important to not rake through the hair harshly when it's wet as the hair is very fragile when it's wet. In fact, it's best (in my opinion) to spray a light detangler or leave-in conditioner before brushing/combing when wet and then go in with a wide tooth comb when my hair is wet (combing gently). Another good tip is to rough dry the hair to about 80% before round brushing or whatever we do to finish out the style (especially with fine hair). I have fine hair as well and I find that with fine hair the products I use for styling and/or heat protection work better after i have rough dried it and before I round brush it as it roughs up the cuticle and opens it up to help your product penetrate better :) I cannot agree more about keeping the concentrator on your hair dryer. Not only does it protect the hair from over heating, but it helps prevent fly-aways when round brushing. (again, especially with fine hair). ;) ok that's the end of my beauty school knowledge. lol.

Never brush through wet hair is correct...the hair stretches....this cause tons of breakage...I always use a detangler....I think I am going to do a product video for hair too...I could have made this video an hour long...LOL...Great tips...Thanks so much!

I always had long shiny healthy hair until I started menopause. Unfortunately, I started about 37 years old. My hair started thinning and was very drab looking. I have been wearing my hair short since about 40 years of age. I am in love with your hair. I never had as much hair as you have but I am thinking that with all this information I might have to give it a go again. I really do miss my long hair.
@dglenn708710 жыл бұрын
CMT, I already do most of the things you suggested. My hair was always thin and fine. In the last 10 years I have been taking hair supplements and masking and also less heat. I eat a relatively healthy diet. What a difference it has made! My BFF is a hairdresser and we only see each other every couple of years . She came to visit me last July and couldn't believe the shape my hair was in! She had brought me my usual goodie box of hair products for fine and thinning hair. Needless to say I don't need those products anymore! Yeah!!!!! She just sent me a new box filled with pureology and redken products. I have fallen in love with all of them! The only other thing I'm doing differently is I'm drinking anywhere from 6-8, 16.9 ounces of water every day! I know that is helping alot also! This was a wonderful video! It's reconfirmed that what I'm doing is good, healthy and my news hair is the proof! Big Hugs! Deb

I blow dry my hair and occasionally use a straight iron or curling iron. So, I usually wash my color treated hair twice a week and deep condition it one of those days.

Great video Tammy, you look gorgeous as always. I have very fine coloured hair, I'm 57 and think it is thinning more now. I love the lighter oils on wet or dry hair, tried coconut but it did not want to come out, must have taken 6 waskes :)) I must try a scalp treatment, been reading up on them. Thanks for sharing your tips

Hi Tammy! Great to have you back! The only advice I can give your peeps is to watch all your hair videos! I've tried most of your recommendations and they all worked for me like miracles, especially phyto supplements, kerastase gold line and DIY masking! I had a keratine straightening cause I'm living in a humid climate, but I soon started to miss my beachy waves (regret always comes late of course) anyhow I started to see my hair go from bad to worse till I started to follow you and soon I was having super healthy hair again (no more waves though) thank you so much Tammy! Even though my husband still calls you E(expensive)CMT! Kisses, Sofie

Great tips! I make every effort to use as little heat on my hair as possible. I never blow dry it and I find ways to get curl that don't involve heat. At the most I use a curling iron twice a week. I also use a coconut oil mask once a week, I just let it soak into my hair for a couple of hours before I wash. Thanks for sharing all your great advise. xoxoxo

Great video, Tammy! When I was younger my hair was fine and straight to wavy. As I have aged my hair has gotten curlier, I mean perm-like curly. UGH! I have not tried expensive products, other than samples, but have found that Organix Brazilian Keratin Therapy works the best at taming my fine, thick, curly hair. I also use their hair serum, love it. And I agree, have long hair if you want, just take care of it. No one wants to look like a mop! LOL! Take care!.
