Paid maternity leave for all mothers for a long time would go a long way to making sure people could actually afford to follow this advice. And some paid paternity leave too.

While I agree with children having adequate sleep, I don't necessarily agree that all stimulation should be banned. My parents put me in a completely dark and quiet room as a child to sleep and it made it difficult for me to sleep as I got older. ANY noise, or tiniest bit of light, kept me awake! Going off to college was the absolute worst. I had to teach myself to fall asleep with the tv on a timer so that it could drown out my roommate and neighbors. Obviously, I don't think you should be throwing a party while your child is trying to sleep, but some background noise can help them adjust later on.

I agree. Unless you are living out in an area where there is nobody and nothing this might be ok if this is where you will always reside, it might be ok I've been using a sound machine last 3 years because of increasing noise...never had to do this...but the increase in population and the inconsiderate neighbors gives me no choice....quite frankly it sucks...but now I need the background noise for my brain to focus on to fall asleep

I did not know that sleeping time was related to the probability of getting overweight later in life in children. Amazing.

Shout out to all the women who were, at no fault of their own, unable to breastfeed. You are valid, you are not a bad mother, you have not hurt your children.

“Eat food- not too much-mostly plants.” The best diet advice.

You’d be hard pressed to find a single person whose life/family/school realities allowed for meeting any of those projected sleep needs. How can it be feasible at any point in human history to allow for 11+ hours? So, put kids to bed before their parents can feasibly get home from work? Let alone accounting for dinner.

My friend had to introduce solids at bang on 4 mnths because her child wasn't getting enough from the breast so it works both ways.

Why is the baby sucking on the doctors finger? Are his hands clean? Is that sanitary? Is that appropriate?

He's teething. If you've never had a child you may not know that babies grab on to anything close, and they clamp on and rub their gums hard. They may be small, but they are powerfully strong!

Babies develop the pincer grasp, a developmental milestone, which represents the coordination of brain and muscles necessary to help them gain independence. This is NORMAL, DESIRABLE, and HEALTHY.

Excuse me- a disclaimer NEEDS to be present that exclusively BREASTFEED baby has a different growth chart as BM fats are the only fat cells that can be eliminated from the body and not just shrunk or grown. My son was EBF for a year and was in the 100 percentile the entire time. He is now extremely tall, thin, athletic and has never even been on antibiotics. Just saying.

elizabeth brogan important point! When you see a beautiful little plump baby chances are they’re breastfed, but once they get moving it comes off and they’ve got all the benefits of having been breastfed for the rest of their lives.

I think they were having it everyday and it can get boring. There are other metas/ healthy foods and ofc a diet should be varied.

Also obesity is not genetic. Children of obese parents also become obese because their household has zero idea about how to live a healthy life: be it the food they eat, the activities they engage in and the people they surround themselves with.
