looks so good, love that the filling is a mix of mushrooms and vegan beef

Rather than cut the rib out of the cabbage leaves, my mom used a paring knife to "thin it out". Worked well.

Thanks for sharing this recipe! In the south of Germany, we actually have a version of cabbage rolls called "Krautwickerl" (in Bavarian) - they normally are filled with minced meat, but maybe I'll give them a try with minced tofu 😊

We have similar in my country, and we eat them on New Year’s Day with mashed potatoes 🤗. I don’t know if I wrote this on the video where we supposed to write our family tradition recipes, but I would really LOVE if you could make vegan version of Meringue Snowballs In Custard 🙏🏽🤍 This was my fave dessert which my grandma made it to me 🥹 she passed away last year, and this dessert really reminds me of her and the times we spent together cooking 🥺🤍🙏🏽 Have a lovely holidays 💕🫂

Its funny you just made these. I grew up w Halupki (slovak for cabbage rolls). I made them whole food plant based using lentils and mushrooms for the meat. I did the rest the same way as my Grandmother (from Slovakia) and my parents did. We added potatoes. That was always a point of contention amongst church suppers. Do you add potatoes or not? As a kid, it was entertaining because the ‘old folks’ would be aghast if someone did or did not add potatoes. Love your channel! Thank you!

Thanks Ruth! I hope you enjoy ☺️ sausage would be super delicious but the texture will be different if you use field roast because it’s par cooked. I’d recommend something like the impossible sausage or a different vegan ground for best results. Hope you enjoy ❤️❤️

Is it too late to send you those recipes, Nikki? I grew up eating arroz con pollo (cuban dish) that my mom has yet to really re-create vegan. She's successfully veganized picadillo - but not arroz con pollo... would love if you could give it a go!!!
@NikkiVegan2 жыл бұрын
I love Cuban food! My mom’s best friend is Cuban(I call her my aunt but we’re not technically related lol) and she made me picadillo a few years ago and I loved it! I was talking to my “cousin” about veganizing it recently so I’d love to try arroz con pollo too! It’s not too late at all, please send me whatever recipe you have and if you have any memories or traditions around the dish then please include that too ☺️ My email is nikkiveganblog@gmail.com ❤️ Happy new year!
