So is there a way to reheat the broccoli? Or do you just let the shrimp/rice reheat it when you mix it in?
@IrishJewinUSA8 жыл бұрын
I dont know what she does but I reheat my broccoli in a bag in hot H2o for 5 min,
@jennyyernstt8 жыл бұрын
+Dan O'Very I let the shrimp and rice reheat it. I don't really like hot broccoli, though. So reheating it isn't a priority for me.

@jennyyernstt8 жыл бұрын
Yes I do! I'm still learning and tweaking them. But I find I eat better if I'm tracking them!
@LaniSargent8 жыл бұрын
Nice, yes it's the best way to go. Helps you gage how your body is changing so much better 👌🏼 are you trying to maintain weight? Once you get the swing of its pretty easy
@jennyyernstt8 жыл бұрын
Maintain for now. I've been tracking for a little over a year now, but just loosely tracking. I'm hoping to fine-tune my knowledge in the next month so I can tweak them to be more efficient/effective for my body. But I'm trying to decide what I want more: to build muscle or to lose a couple % of body fat since summer is right around the corner 😅

Jenny an easy way to steam broccoli is to take a pan and put just a little bit of water in the bottom then get the water boiling and put a lid on and steam it until it's tender then strain the water. It's so much better than boiled and it's easier.
@iancowan80408 жыл бұрын
And to back this up I've eaten broccoli since I was born and cook it all the time and this is how my grandma and parents have always done it.
@jennyyernstt8 жыл бұрын

I'm no health nut, but I noticed you use frozen broccoli. Then, you mentioned losing nutrients when microwaving. I heard that, too. I also heard freezing broccoli loses nutrients, too. That's why I bought a steamer basket ($1 at Target). You put a little water in a pot and then put the basket in the pot and cover with a lid. It tastes SOOO much better, too!!!
@Arthur96468 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the recipe I am encouraged to follow suit. If you don't mind me asking, how much did this prep cost you? And also how much do you spend on average on the food preps? I ask as I am trying to see ways I can cut my food budget because I spend so much and not get what I want out of it. Many thanks for the videos and I hope you are doing well, keep smiling as usual.. take care.
@jennyyernstt8 жыл бұрын
This one was about $30. I typically spend $20-$30 each week on meals and snacks. Not counting if I eat out.
@_Mario_PL_8 жыл бұрын
Wow I need to start doing that, I spend around $20-25 a day just for breakfast and lunch each day :/ Only problem for me is I don't have a way to heat my food up as I'm on the road and not sure eating cold sound as good?

Hi Jenny! I love watching your videos, they are so helpful and relatable. I'm a flight attendant as well and I really struggle with packing for my trips! I swear every hotel we stay in doesn't have a microwave anywhere that I can use lol. Do you have any suggestions for what I can do? Heating up my own food doesn't really seem to be an option unfortunately. Anything you can tell me would be really helpful! Thanks so much :)
@jennyyernstt7 жыл бұрын
+Tori Hewitt Pinterest is a God-send girl! You should be able to find meals on there that you won't have to heat up

Great video Jenny. A great solution for your broccoli and healthier rice... Get yourself an inexpensive Aroma rice cooker with steamer basket from Target. Throw the rice in the cooker, water, turn it on, after it starts boiling, throw the broccoli(buy larger cuts, not chopped) on the steam tray for a little bit, remove it, put lid back on rice and it will be done in about 15-20min. The rice is healthier because it doesn't have the oil and extra sodium of the packaged stuff. I never used to use a rice cooker, now I use it to steam fish, boil pasta, make chili, make boiled eggs in the steamer basket then throw them in the fridge for when I need quick protein, etc. Amazing what you can do in that thing!! tinyurl.com/ricesteamer

Oh my lord, these recipes look sooo delicious! Do you make one for lunch and the other for dinner? I don't think they would all last long enough to be eaten only for lunch. I have been microwaving my broccoli for my whole life... feeling so disappointed at myself, all of that effort on getting my green in went out the window!
@jennyyernstt8 жыл бұрын
+Jessica Bishop yep! I make 8 meals to last me 4-5 days, depending on if I end up eating out on a fun layover or not.
@tunaXonXtoast8 жыл бұрын
I didn't know that about the broccoli either. I usually just pour it straight from the frozen bag and microwave its time to eat it at work.
@davidw.patton90138 жыл бұрын
are you a chef or a flight attendant, jen?
@Oboepuppyluver137 жыл бұрын
you can steam broccoli by putting it in a bowl with a little water and covering it with a plate and then microwaving it for 2-3 minutes :)
@jennyyernstt7 жыл бұрын
+Claire M I believe it's the microwave's radiation that zaps a lot of the nutrients from broccoli

Tip... Start sautéing the onions and peppers first before adding meat. That way your not over cooking the turkey (which leans toward dry anyway) while waiting for the veggies to soften.
