Я с обыкновенным диском точу и топоры, и ножи, и свёрла. Только в зависимости от заточки меняю скорость, у меня УШМ с регулятором скорости.

????? Explain the details, diameter of holes, what was the item you used to drill the whetstone, what type of glue? Interesting use of an old CD and sandpaper 800 grit blue color on the sandpaper- what was that? is it like the green the white or red or black What about a chopping demo? A bigger axe for larger wood splitting So many questions Isn’t it easier to sharpen traditionally?

I agree with Micheal Trombino. This is a lot of work when all you really need is minimal information and a file. My axes are just as sharp and it took me half as long to do it. Plus, on a side note, DO NOT EVER put sand paper on a CD and use it as a sanding disc. That angle grinder is running at 11 to 12 thousand rpm. That’s as much as a formula race car. Obviously you’ve never had a cutting wheel explode on you because you’re asking for a very bloody accident doing that.

Do not use a CD this way unless you like to bleed, hey I've got an idea, go to the store and buy a rubber wheel for this exact task that will last you many years and you get to keep you eye balls !

An axe isnt supposed to be razor sharp anyway! 5 seconds with an angle grinder or belt sander does the required sharpening perfectly without drilling holes in the axe and oilstone. Crazy!!!!!!!

I’m sorry to say, this is one of those tricks that only works if you already have fixed the blade shape away from a cheap factory edge and even then it is clumsy, limited, and requires too much setup and gear and lots of work. It will only shape the blade to one geometry. I’m glad people still put a little thought and keep trying to improve but not every neat trick is a good trick. Thank you for trying anyway.

So I guess the 1000s of years people have sharpened their tools with whetstones and water isn't nearly as efficient as using 1/2 can of WD-40, glue, screws, 3 different power tools & bits, a CD, a vice and sandpaper...have I got that right?

Imaginative idea, but far better to learn how to sharpen an axe by eye and feel, using a whetstone - like, as others have commented, people have done for thousands of years. What you need to think about is; what if you're in the forest and need to sharpen your axe? It's the same with sharpening a knife or any bladed tool, it is a skill that needs to learned and mastered.

I slit about a thousand pieces of kindling each year. I dont want a super sharp axe. I took the side off my thumb 1r years ago sonow for slitting at least i go with fairly dull. I have other tools for shaving off material.

FYI: The majority of accidental cuts / injuries occur because of a dull blade or tool. This results in the user applying incorrect or inappropriate force to compensate for the tools inability to perform its job with ease. Instead, make sure your blades and tools are as sharp as can be, and let the blade or tool do the work for you!

7:47. A perfectly good pair of scissors to cut the sandpaper. If the hatchet were sharp already you could use it to cut the paper. Polishing compound on 80 grit sandpaper? This gets stranger and stranger. Why is the WD40 can wrapped with blue tape?

Bin seit 50 Jahren professionell mit Holz und Metallarbeiten beschäftigt und finde die Ratschläge gut und sinnvoll. Als Profi wischen wir auch Spänne von glatten Untergründen mit der ungeschützten Hand weg. Der CD Teller ist genial und einfach.

It's far easier to hold the axe head up to a grinding wheel & sharpen it in about 60 seconds. Axes don't need to cut paper like scissors... that's stupid.

Bad use of the whetstone. The correct angle can be made using an electric grind stone, the whetstone is for the final sharpening. No holes are drilled.
