@Emerald0814 жыл бұрын
@@MrDrumStikz I get where you are coming from, people for sure have a tendency of idealizing their partner or believing that eventually their soulmate comes along and stuff like that. Yes, it can invoke an unhealthy mindset. But regardless of that, personally there are significantly more girls, even phisically attractive ones who I just honestly cant imagine having a relationship with. Or I just dont really want to. So in that sense I still think "fitting", or finding the right person absolutely makes sense. Its more of a spectrum imo, and the other extreme would be when 2 people stick together in a toxic relationship for way more than they should. That happens too. Your approach basically implies that I could just literally ask out a random girl on the street and with hard work it would for sure work out. @hj24793 жыл бұрын
She isn't wrong, lok can actually mean a lot of different things relating to setting. For example, paatal lok is similar to hell (it isn't literally hell because religions differ but many religions share the same idea of good and bad and judgement after death with fire and darkness often being associated with bad but alas that doesn't matter here.) Sanskrit Lok relates to "seeing" although seeing can also be perceiving because it is viewing but not necessarily through sight. Now "loka" is plane of existence and so Dr K isn't wrong either. Of course they are both wrong because Alok actually refers to the god Shiva and is usually referring to light or enlightenment which ties back to the Sanskrit etymology of lok and Alok because lok is about seeing and perception which has everything to do with light and Alok is to see usually in context to religion which ties it back to lord Shiva again but also to see also relates to being enlightened so it is clear to see how over time you could reach the definition of enlightenment from to see. What I'm trying to say here is, one the history of words is cool and two, Dr K knew that his correction was unnecessary there and he got called out and that is healthy and normal.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I think most people would be anxious if their significant other just turned to them and said "I think you're being disrespectful" out of the blue. I skipped around a bit but it seemed somewhat spontaneous and her reaction is evidence of that. She seemed caught off guard! I think most people would like to avoid these kinds of confrontation and they do so by subtly nudging their concern/discomfort first. You say "I don't need your permission to speak!" in a friendly, joking manner. You say "did I interrupt you? You told me to 'go ahead', do you have more to say?". Polite ways to voice your discomfort with someone's action ("Go ahead" in a snarky tone) before needing to turn to them and say "I find that really disrespectful".
@GeekProdigyGuy4 жыл бұрын
@@bikothrifto that's just preference and has to be negotiated with your partner. she's obviously ok with being explicitly called out. it may surprise her or make her uncomfortable in the moment, but that doesn't mean she has any problem with it. being caught by surprise or being slightly uncomfortable is normal and perfectly healthy. I don't think it's necessarily an absolute ideal model, rather just a very clear example of how to communicate very explicitly. in some cases, including this one, it might be more uncomfortable or weird for them to probe like that, as it could be construed as being passive aggressive. also, I think OP is saying anxious as in literal social anxiety, which is its own thing entirely. I don't have any advice for dealing with it, but that anxiety probably doesn't have anything to do with the appropriateness of this confrontation, but rather a general anxiety associated with any confrontation.

Dr. K this was so good, I loved when you called out your wife for feeling disrespected. I understand Dr. K's point about communicating something as soon as you feel with, but with all due respect to Dr. K, didn't agree with that portion. @dumbass17754 жыл бұрын
@@poopmaster1911 I think Mrs. And Mr. K both understood that neither intended disrespect from that little discussion and that's what allows them to do that. I feel the same way. Maybe in Dr K’s mind that little section he said to Mrs K wasn’t meant in any kind of disrespect but to me those words mean more lol. Not criticizing him bc I’m assuming he didn’t mean it this way but it felt like a parent correcting their child rather than a conversation by two equals. I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is. Like based on his stream I expected him to handle it all nice and to just explain how it made him feel and they could decide how to proceed. But here he kinda locked on to her and it felt like “Don’t disrespect me in front of my stream. Got it?” Idk maybe I just didn’t expect Dr K to be bothered by a few interruptions. Trust me, this can backfire. His wife could feel attacked in those moments, whereas you just see a clear spoken and assertive dr. K. Especially given that they’re both talking to an audience (i.e. public facing). She might prefer he raise the issue in a more subtle manner. Appropriate communication style varies widely depending on your partner.
@Fr13dN3wb4 жыл бұрын
TL;DR: I'm going on a classic rant here, but I don't have any other way to express this at the moment. Hope it makes sense and that you might find it helpful. I think that the anger you speak has roots from the past (bullying and self-loathing for not standing up for yourself or w/e), and needs to be properly processed. I was in a similar situation, where I would hold in my thoughts on annoyances or disrespect from other people, until I eventually couldn't hold it in any longer. This without fail resulted in me coming off as aggressive when I did share my thoughts, spreading a lot of bad energy to situations (coming from my initial bad state of mind). So I started to acknowledge my feelings and thoughts the moment they came to me, or as Dr. K would probably call it: I started "catching" my feelings. Instead of burying them I would start to immediately express myself as these feelings would arise, and address my problem verbally to those involved. I didn't give myself time to be eaten up by the emotion, and so by expressing myself right away I didn't come off as aggressive or angry. In addition, doing so comes with another big trade-off: long-term you will be grateful to yourself for being honest, instead of lowering your sense of self-worth every time you decide to not speak your mind. I also think this is a huge part of what commands respect (knowing who you are and what your values are, and not being afraid to show it). This is in a way confidence in a nutshell, and people respect confident people (read: CONFIDENT, NOT ARROGANT). If you have a lot of pent up anger that leads you to say or do certain things, I don't think it's likely at all to be able to command respect, because the foundation (or state of mind) you are coming from is not confident. You can command fear, sure, but being feared is not the same as being respected. I have had bullies whom I feared a great deal, but I haven't for a single second even remotely respected any of them.
@trippasnippa1194 жыл бұрын
You should only do this with ur significant other. They are able to do it because they talked about it before and agreed that this should be how you react if you ever feel the way you do. Everyones different and you should always know how to approach a problem depending on the person not just seeing something that works for other people and expecting it to be able to replicate their results.

So many of these relationships where people are broken by broken people. Almost all of them lack mutual respect and somehow the guys and girls have accepted being lied to, cheated multiple times etc. This has it's origins in childhood, invariably. Basically you lacked healthy boundaries which should have been provided by the adults while growing up. This sometimes leads to desperately holding on to shitty relationships. Let's be aware of ourselves to that we don't have to go through that anymore. It starts with awareness.

Take responsibility for your choices in relationships and tell people how you will improve your relationship with them. Take the focus off of other people in your life and in terms of friends, family, coworkers, and intimate relationships, try to communicate the importance of the others as issues come up. If you can manage their expectations for you rather than focusing on changing the other people in your life, you save space for people to step up and fill those roles. Its unfortunate that we can not immediately understand and compliment changes that others would like to see in us, but if you keep trying to assert your needs and apologize for you shortcomings, they will find you are capable, appreciative, and adaptable. Don't hope that they will change for you, but do your best with the tools you have and they will try to meet you half way. Don't give up! Part of the reason why we get depressed and anxious is because we recognize talent, but have not yet realized for ourselves the recognition for capacities we note in others. Anything you value in another person can inspire you to invite other perspectives. Even when everyone says you don't understand, you always have something more to contribute. You don't have to fight their opinion to inspire them, just ask yourself what you saw in them and show them. I've had arguments with people I love dearly, but at the end of the day, all we want is to have built something beautiful together. You belong. I'm proud of you.

I feel I'm in a fairly healthy relationship and have been for years, but communication is still a struggle even though I think we have a pretty high level of emotional maturity.
