I used to be a chorister, I was an orphan, and I went through similar experiences in my school years, being envied at times for my voice and for my general musical talent. A beautifful movie, with great actors. Emotional, inspiring and motivational. Thank you. It brought tears to my eyes. I had enjoyed music all my life. Singing in small quartets, to the sound of 300 voices in the opera. Nearly 70 now, my voice is nearly gone, yet not lost to my soul, and this movie always brings to mind the struggles and love I have for music! I see myself in the boy Stet in so many ways. There are lessons to be learned from the gift of music. Hear them well.

I have been in choirs during my Jr. & High school years, and always since a young child I sang and sang. I am now 80 and I still remember all the music from all those years including the 60's 70's 80"s and on and on. I know how you feel as I do myself. This film brought all that back in a flash. Anyhow, I quite imagine we are both blessed, along with millions of others around the world. We do hold a special place don't ya think.... Thx for the comment. Sincerely, Sentebey

My Dad who recently passed, was that kind of Carpentry teacher in a Vocational School and worked with hundreds of boys who were lost and struggling to find their way to manhood. My Father assisted them and rescued them many times... He also lost many to the streets, drugs and death.... We need more mentoring Men in this country that honestly care about little boys making good decisions and developing their "gifts" to lead them into life with success and passion, to be good future citizens of LIFE. Loved this film, cried like a baby thru the ending...

Maybe you think that his fathers acceptance was good, however I noticed that he didn’t welcome him into the family at first. However, when he became well known, THEN he welcomed him into the family. However, I think that it is remarkable, that his stepmother was willing to welcome him into the family, simply because she loved her husband and Seth was his son. Oh, I just reread your comment, and I too, admire his determination to keep trying until he succeeded. That show that aggression nurtures success.

Sound in a cathedral is beautiful. I was lonesome as child, found friends in a choir. It helped a Lot.

Such a powerful movie of good people getting involved with a troubled boy and helping him to thrive. My favorite quote is from Mr. Carvelle when he’s giving the boy choir advice. He said……….there will be other gifts in your lifetime; and when they appear, nurture them the way you nurtured this one. That’s some good advice.

I'm so glad that I stumbled onto this wonderful film. What a great story about redemption and growing as a human being. Father and son together and music made it all happen. Ahhhhhhhh I love music and this is one of the reasons why. It touches the souls and ears for those who have it to hear with. Nothing like the sound of young voices full of hope and innocents and renewal for all of those of us who hear it. Wow a great story and I've never heard of it before.. Thank you for sharing this with all of us..............pat

Thank you so much for sharing this with the world! Each and everyone has their own cross to bear, big or small, what matters is to never give up hope and have faith that through hard work and perseverance and with His help, we will all get through with our lives. Love what the character of Dustin Hoffman said, "It is a life that we give them here and not a career." Then at the end, he still gave a written and signed recommendation or introduction letter.

Watching it again and still...one of the best movies ever....And I really love that they put the Adiemus from Karl Jenkins in it. We played the whole symphony with the orchestra...If you ever get the chance to listen to it live.. do it, it's absolutely worth it.

I, too, thank you so much for this amazing experience. Our American Boy's Choir richly deserves its great reputation as singers, and the School goes beyond musical talent to instill in these young boys a dedication and discipline to aid them throughout their lives.
