Thank you ! It important to put this out there, it’s scary and the unknown is uncomfortable . I’m in the same boat and also young. What’s scary is not being able to listen to music the same on one side. It matters

Hi. Thank you for sharing your hearing loss experience. I am in the same boat as you are......hearing loss, on current steriod medication and on the course of getting ear injections as well. This makes video makes me less alone and I hope that is the case with anyone watching your video. Thank you again for posting this video. I hope we BOTH feel better soon!

Jake, I just subscribed because of the Sterling Axis video. However, going through your videos I found this one which is of particular interest to me. I was born with 60% loss of hearing. I am 63 now and 100% completely deaf. I follow along videos with captions and a personal caption machine connected to my computer. I also play guitar, not too well but it has been my lifelong love. Being deaf is a double edged blade. I wish I could hear music and sounds better than I "feel" it, however, I am very focused when I communicate with people. If you find that your issue becomes worse, fear not. But, there is a very good recovery percentage with Labyrinthitis. There are many hearing impaired musicians. Pete Towshend has tinnitus and partial hearing loss. He's spoken about using hearing aids to manage his hearing impairment and has been an advocate for musicians taking precautions to protect their hearing. Eric Clapton, Brian Johnson, Chris Martin, Ozzy Osbourne and many others suffer from hearing loss and tinnitus so you are in very good company. Take care and good luck...

Viral Labrynthitis took my hearing (left ear) 12 yrs ago. I went to sleep on a Sunday, woke up Monday morning to that LOUD ringing, then clicking, hearing loss then intense vertigo. Doc sent me to physical therapy, where the therapist diagnosed me and told me I needed to see an ENT asap. Doc didn't refer me until a month later. ENT immediately started cortezone injection in my ear drum, then 2 other injections over the next 2 weeks. Unfortunately, my pcp waited too long to send the referral to the ENT. So now, I live with hearing loss in my left ear, which can be very frustrating when in a room of people talking, I can't hear what they're saying. Also, I can't always tell which direction sound is coming from. It must be horrible for a musician, and I'm sorry this has happened to you.

Hey, Jake. Thanks for sharing that. I'll be praying for you, man. I feel like you're gonna pull through this and come out ok. You did pretty good at the special olympics gig. Here is an interesting thing... My father was a machinist by day. But he gigged every weekend Friday and Saturday. He was an infantryman in World War II. A mortar round went off near his right side. He took some shrapnel in his leg and lost all hearing in his right ear. They dug the shrapel out of his leg, let him rest up a few days and sent him back to the front.(Battle Of The Bulge) He got out of the service in 1946 and played every weekend until the early 2000's with one ear. He adapted. He was a great guitar player. So are you, Jake. I'm sure, no matter the outcome, you are strong enough to keep on, keeping on. I hope you live stream this weekend. Best Regards, John...

I appreciate this story so much. Your father was a hero, and I have no right to complain about my ear issue considering what he did for all of us. I’ll remember to be thankful for the things I have and to be resilient, even if things don’t get better.
