Ann and Nancy Wilson were my neighbour's back in 1975-76. I was a 12 year old kid and they were the first two people I met when we moved into our new house. They lived in an A Frame cabin behind our place. I used to play with their two dogs. I know that 'Magic Man' and 'Crazy On You' were written in that cabin. :)

Interesting, because she is know as the mother of Grunge 😅, only because the bands in the Seattle area used one of the sisters ranch house as a get together party hang out. I’m guessing you came across various members of Grunge’s elite bands.

Ann is Not known as the Mother of Grunge ! She’s The Undisputed Queen of Rock & Roll ! Grunge didn’t come onto the Seattle scene until early 90’s, with Pearl Jam & Nirvana. I know, cause I was there, grew up in Seattle & saw Heart Live Three times ! And, Nirvana years later. Went to Cobain’s candle light Memorial @ theSeattle Center. Courtney yelled out, F you Kurt ! So sad. RIP

Heart are huge Led Zeppelin fans, so this 1977 single's riff was inspired by the Led Zeppelin song "Achilles' last stand" from 1976... Ann & Nancy Wilson paid tribute to Led Zeppelin in 2012 performing 'Stairway to heaven' at the Kennedy Center Honors.

The statement about Achilles Last Stand and Barracuda It's totally incorrect. Heart (Roger Fisher) "borrowed" the riff for Barracuda from Nazareth's cover of Joni Mitchell's "This Flight Tonight." Alone was my introduction to Heart when I was a teenager. When I heard that I had to go back and find their earlier works. Barracuda was the first song on the first cassette tape (Little Queen) I bought (from the gas station!) and it blew me away. Heart from the 70s is different than Heart from the 80s. The band mostly broke up and Ann and Nancy (and Howard Leese, the session lead guitarist turned full band member) got a new bass player Mark Andes (from Spirit and Firefall) and drummer Denny Carmassi (formerly with Sammy Hagar/Montrose) and played a couple albums that didn't do well. Then they changed tactics and got help with the song writing and hit it big again with their self-titled Heart album, followed by Bad Animals, and Brigade (a LOT of great songs on that one as well). Great early songs are: Crazy On You (arguably their best!) Magic Man Heartless Straight On Great 80s hits: What About Love These Dreams (lead vocals by Nancy) Who Will You Run To Secret I Didn't Want To Need You Stranded (lead vocals by Nancy) This is by no means an exhaustive list!

They built this from Led Zeppelin's "Achilles Last Stand" & was directed at the record company that attempted to hang them out to dry- its ALL about the anger. Another great reaction Biss! 'Alone' is a truly great song, but 'Barracuda' is part of what I call Hearts "holy trinity" of their 3 best, and iconic, songs. (imho) The other 2 are 'Magic Man', and 'Crazy on You'. At some point you must (you MUST lol) listen to them. Most versions of 'CoY' have an awesome acoustic guitar intro played by Nancy. I think some videos cut out that intro, so you'll want to find a video with that intro. It doesn't matter which song you hear first, but I was about 10 years old when their first album came out, and 'MM' was the first track on the record, so the first song of theirs I ever heard. From the first NOTE I was HOOKED!! 😀

@_MjG_
@_MjG_ 3 ай бұрын
By how you wrote your comment , it made the tears sound as if they were triggered by Heart's performance. Whether or not you intended to make it sound that way. Those tears were not brought on by Ann & Nancy's performance, but by the gospel choir's tribute to Led Zeppelin's former (dead) drummer John Bonham. Also, some of that emotion was likely brought on by John Bonham's son, Jason, playing drums.

Kicking the door and stepping in into 2023 while having rocking mood with Heart and their badass music hit Barracuda 🤘🤘🤘Ann Wilson as a wonderful lead singer looks amazing together with her fellow band members , vocals , rhythms of the guitars , short drum solos , everything is just one big and iconic masterpiece , it's good to see that during the performance of the song , no one is left behind , very cool reaction 🙂 this is the first time i'm hearing this song and i'm loving it every second of it 🙂

Ann and Nancy are amazing. I heard this for the first time when I was 10 years old. And fell in love with the riff as well. Happy New Year Bisscute.!

You give excellent reviews. It is clear that you listen carefully to all parts of the songs, not all reactors do. It is so refreshing to listen to you. I am 71 years old so you know I have heard a lot of music, and you make it new for me. That is awesome. Thank you. 😄✌💛

As mentioned, there's quite a difference between Heart of the 70's and early 80's and starting from their massive comeback album in 1985. I'm a fan of both (plus other stuff over the years since). "Crazy On You" live from 1978 (outdoors) has an extended version of Nancy Wilson's "Silver Wheels" intro, and is a great live performance (even if the quality is from a TV broadcast). You could do both this live performance and the original album version and compare (something more reactors should do). "These Dreams" is from their 1985 album "Heart" and has Nancy on the lead vocals. Lots more too, such as "Magic Man", "Love Alive", "Straight On", "Dog And Butterfly", "What About Love", “All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You”, and "(Up on) Cherry Blossom Road"(from the live concert "The Road Home"). "The Road Home" was a "unplugged" performance in 1995 that was later released on video and CD - great stuff.
