Great reaction! This is one of my favorite Heart songs. Such passion and energy. I got to see them in concert. It was great! I had a crush on Ann Wilson (I have always preferred the brunettes). When I saw them in concert it was during the time when drummers thought it was cool to throw their drumsticks to the crowd. In this case the drummer did not toss the drumstick, he threw it like he was in an axe throwing contest with immense velocity. It hit this girl in the eye. I saw them leading her out with a bandage over her eye. She had one hand on her eye and in the other hand she tightly clutched the drumstick. At the time I thought it was because she was such a big fan and I thought, "wow, such devotion." After many years I came to think that it was probably because she was holding it for evidence in a lawsuit. Crazy! (No pun intended)

Nancy Wilson with the wind in her hair and her acoustic guitar virtuosity stole my heart in 1980, and hasn't given it back yet. (And she does vocals -- backing vocals on most tracks, lead on some, she's a very good singer compared to anyone except Ann...)
@dunringill17472 ай бұрын
You mentioned old school raw talent versus modern commercialized fireworks, glitz, glamour, and autotuned voices. I'm with you. Modern commercialized work is like eating plastic tasting processed cheese - Synthetic taste with no depth. Ann is one of Rock's finest vocalists. She has so much power, nuance, sustainability, and control in her singing voice. Nancy is also incredible .. and she can sing too. In fact, Nancy sings lead vocal on about 18 Heart songs.

I saw Heart during their "Bébé le Strange" tour (1980). It was their first album after Roger Fisher left the band. The show was really good, and the sound was fantastic. This was Heart's best song to perform live, throughout their career, it's just lots of energy. This performance is early, and with Nancy just rocking out on the acoustic guitar it makes the performance. It's not easy to play acoustic guitar that aggressively for several minutes, it takes a lot of strength and skill. Live performances are the best, especially at my age where I've been listening to these songs since high school, seeing a live performance gives you something different from what's been played on the radio a million times.

There are 3 elements that make a song "pure Heart sound". 1) Amazing vocals from Ann in general. 2) Stunning harmonies with Nancy/Ann that are breathtaking when isolated. 3) "Music drops" during a song that come out of nowhere and completely change not just the "vibe" of a song, but the energy of both the performers AND listeners at the same time. And "Crazy On You" and "Magic Man" are prime examples of these elements taking what would be a "decent/average song" to a completely different level of perfection.

I went to, and saw Heart at, Cal Jam 2 (Mar. 1978). I was just 15yrs9mos and it was my first concert. Got dropped off the night before (about 9 or 10pm)...my older brother got lost getting us drinks before Santana (fourth in the lineup) performed...and then hitchhiked home to San Berdoo after Aerosmith was done (about 12 to 1am = approx. 27 hours later). Luckily someone responded to my "shout" at the tunnel exiting under the track; "anyone going to San Berdoo?" They ended up living just a few blocks from me and got me home. My brother ended up being sent to a hospital for his asthma.

Ms. Bisscute reacting to a song from the 50's, 60's, 70's or even some of the 80's live as your first reaction would be a second reaction to those who grew up in these decades. Our first reaction to a song during those decades would come from the radio or a friend who had an album, 8 -track or cassette and introduced us to the song the first time. "Live" would be our second reaction to a song, band or soloist. If your interested in reacting to a song released by record labels to radio and stores as the same first reaction experience we had during these times then live would be a second listen. Concert tours with multiple venues and large audiences came after a song, band or soloist became popular. ✌️

There already is a third Wilson sister, Lynn. She is the oldest and was only in their first band when they were kids (ages 10, 14, 18). However, she did do some background vocals on some of the Heart albums. On the "Private Auditions" album song "Perfect Stranger" you can briefly hear all three sisters in harmony; and on song "The Situation" the lone vocal on the chorus is Lynn's. "Cry To Me" on their album "Little Queen" has a lot of 3-sister vocals.
