Heart Chevron Friendship Bracelet Tutorial [CC]

Follow along as I teach you how to make a unique twist on a chevron pattern that works up with just TWO EASY STEPS! This bracelet does require you to know all four of the friendship bracelet knots, but this pattern isn't too complicated to knot at all. The "heart" in the name comes from the added uniqueness of the black string in the middle!

Second friendship bracelet ever for me! I'm making a lesbian flag with white hearts for my roommate. I've cycled through all of my colors twice and have shown massive improvement, and I finally memorized the pattern and simplified it in my brain so no longer have to flip back to the beginning of the tutorial every minute. thank you for this! I made my first one yesterday and it looks very very nice. I would just recommend some people use longer strings. I made my colors my wingspan which us about 64 in and my heart color longer and it still was like *just* long enough by the end

Why dont you show how to do the whole bracelet from the beginning unstand of the middle to get the loop on top

The loop isn’t necessary to do. Loops/shaped starts/etc. are purely for aesthetics and I want people to be able to feel like they can do whatever they want before starting the pattern. There are already separate tutorials on how to make starts, but you can easily just leave some extra length of string at the end, tie an overhand knot, and then just start the pattern right away. But I like for that to be up to the person watching.

So 7 strings in total? Like the 5 colors and the 2 black/heart colors on both sides?

It is 5 colors + black. If you make ties on both ends you need 2 strings from each color (4 strings from the black string) about 30” long per string; if you want a loop at the top you measure each color 1 time (2 times for black) but double the measurement, so 60”.

You can start the bracelet however you want. You can simply tie a knot for long enough ties then go straight into the bracelet. If you want something fancier, I have a tutorial on shaped starts. Masha Knots also has a tutorial on teardrop loops.

I’ve actually never tried! However, I do think it could be possible. There might be a few extra knots you’d need to make in each step, though. 🙂

@@Craftanatic When creating your tear drop loops, do you to backward knots on the left for forward/backward?

With teardrop loops, you want the strings to be towards the outside, so you’ll do whichever knot that’ll bring it that way if that makes sense? So with the left side, you would want to make forward-backward knots, then backward-forward on the right. (Hope that makes sense!!)

To be completely honest with you, I totally hate teardrop loops lol. I really appreciate your kind words, though, because I NEVER like how my teardrop loops turn out! I have actually also just done forward and backward knots because it can sometimes be way easier. Your mileage may vary, though!
