I had 6 blockages which turned out to be 5 bypass surgery, 5 veins taken from 5 places on my left leg. That was in July 2005 I was three weeks pass my 73rd birthday. I was in the hospital for 9 days. I was very weak after being released from the hospital and had no appetite which was probably good for loosing excess weight, gradually my appetite returned. After a short time, I don’t remember, when i returned for a follow up visit and an X-ray showed I had fluid around my heart, this happens to about 25 percent of these surgeries, a doctor used a large syringe to remove a large amount of fluid. I was urged to do the rehab program which I did 3 timesaver week for about months and I completed that. I started making regular visits to a cardiologist which I have been doing. In December of 2015 I was diagnosed with A-fib and resulted in me now having a pacemaker which is working well for me. God has been better to me than I deserve. I know this has been long but I trust some will be encouraged, it does leave a prominent scar but my shirt covers it. Thanks!👍❤️

I had off-pump CABG 5 years ago and it is one of the best things that ever happened to me. This advanced procedure was provided free of charge on the UK's National Health Service, and finding this on KZbin has reminded me that I have a debt to society which I have not been paying very well of late as my sugar and fat intake has gone up recently. Time to pull my socks up and make the most of this amazing second bite at life that I have been given.

I had my quad CABG in October 2004 when I was aged 63. It was very hard to come to an acceptance that it had to be done following a heart attack 6 months previously. However I feel fine in general and I'm diligent in taking the cardiac medication which is important for the rest of your life! My main tip : Be a good patient and don't try to rush your recovery to full health - let your body heal slowly and plan your exercise regime sensibly. DON"T WORRY!!!

Congratulations and thank God you are still here 🙏🏼 I am getting ready to go through quadruple bypass surgery and the plan is to have it next week. I am scared! I was shocked to find out that I have 4 blockages. I’m scared of how am I going to be when I wake up and also about the breathing tube still being in me. What was that like for you?? What was it like when you started to come around and wake up? Was you scared and wondering what was going on or what? This Friday I have to get vein mapping, carotid artery test, echocardiogram and another test to get me ready 😩

Had triple graft on the 23/9/21. Now nearly 12 weeks in , and hoping to resume light duties in the New Year🤞🤞🤞! Had what I call the “silent assassin” inside me(ie. No symptoms of pain or breathlessness !) so am very grateful to the Derriford Team (Plymouth UK) for sorting me out, in what are difficult times 👍. Healed outside, and now “running in” the internal repairs. Scary but the alternatives weren’t too attractive😎

I had 2 infarctions while in the hospital following extensive plastic surgery and was exhausted/out of breath for a month. A stress test showed I had blockage of LAD and stents wouldn't do it so surgery was my only option.6 weeks since quadruple bypass. For the love of God, don't stretch while yawning. The pain is real after this surgery, take my word for it. I still have another upcoming plastic surgery in about 6 weeks. I had 6 surgeries last year including CABG. Life can be cruel and getting old sucks. I am only 64. INOVA doctors and health system are top notch.

I am now recovering at home after getting a triple bypass six days ago. It's too soon to see the benefits. I never had a heart attack, just a slight feeling of indigestion if I walked briskly for more than 15 minutes. Using stress tests and an angiogram, the cardiologist determined that I am vulnerable to a heart attack. So the triple bypass was performed. Now, what I am struggling with is the recovery process. My chest cavity hurts everywhere. But sometimes it doesn't hurt at all - with or without pain medication. My throat is very sore due to the breathing tube they put into my lungs. Urination burns due to the catheter they inserted after they knocked me out. I know the surgery was necessary and it likely extended my life. But, my 67 year old body is not happy about being so severely violated.

@@Pjto My triple bypass was on 3-1-21. I'm doing fine overall. I'm not having any heart problems. There are a few things I wasn't expecting. For example, the incision in my chest is still very sensitive to any contact. My doctors don't really provide an explanation. Also, I am struggling with some strange mental issues. My doctor says some patients get a temporary issue called "pump head". That seems to be caused by the external pump that they use when stopping your heart. Somehow, the re-routed blood flow alters how the brain reacts to the blood. For details, you can do a search for "pump head" in Google. My short term memory is worse than normal. I'm also dealing with depression. Doc says these issues will clear up eventually. Let's hope. Hope your Dad does well.
