Fisher Bros and the Human Tribe

All we musicians and Mike Fisher learned a lot from Mike Flicker. Mike was our guiding light and positive-vibe guru, especially in the early recordings, as we were all pretty green. After decades had passed, I realized how much I knew by instinct, having absorbed it from all those hours of recording. What a team!

I've seen some of the biggest names in rock from the very late 60s to the early 80s and Heart was hands down the best damn rock band I've ever seen live. Powerful, tight as hell like they were all of one mind and the music was just perfect. The whole band was a well oiled machine. They were all fantastic musicians who played perfectly together and it was never about individual egos while they actually played. It was always about the music. It's easy now to focus only on Anns vocals and it goes without saying that she was a powerhouse vocalist who could do just about anything BUT the signature sound of the original Hear was Anns vocals and Rogers guitar playing. The moment the Wilsons ditched Roger they fell from being a monster band like Led Zeppelin and on their way to being icons to just middle of the road. They were never the same after that. The level of ego in the Wilson sisters dismantling that original band was as huge as Anns voice itself. Remember, it was the Fisher bothers who started that band and Ann was only into folk music before she joined. She never would have hit the big time if she hadn't joined Heart. Two dopey women destroyed their own greatness.

When they played for the first time in Atlanta. 1975. They were nearly booed off the stage. INDIE/ ALTERNATIVE ROCK WAS UNHEARD OF THEN IN THE SOUTH. It was lyn--skyn. ..Almand Bros THE WHO. Zepplin....Uriah Heep...Doobie Bros...yeah I'm that old. And Rod Stewart who Heart got their first break as an opening band during his tour. The sisters may have gone through trials and tribulations with each other and their personal relationships. But that has been their source of inspiration. Ann still has the pipes that could shatter glass..Nancy was so small skinny almost disappeared behind her acoustic guitar but possibly the most gorgeous blonde gifted beyond belief who could also belt out lyrics in perfect harmony like those two were both sides of a priceless gold coin

This is when rock made sense and Heart's way ahead of their time. This is real rock and roll entertainment and what I see coming out of the🇺🇸US today is nothing like this. You could have taken a child and Grampa to see any rock group show back then and everyone would enjoy themselves. Today you'd be charged with child endangerment bringing a child to any🇺🇸US concert and Grampa's would have heart-attacks and if not would think you're nuts. 🌹Heart (Ann and Nancy Wilson) are geniuses and have earned their🎓degrees and will forever go down in music history and I'm grateful to have grown up alongside their music. 💐Thanks for sharing.

On the studio version, Nancy plays lead guitar (left channel) and I assume Roger plays rhythm (right channel, but the liner notes aren't clear on that). The harmony solo is played by Roger and Howard. Nancy plays the solo with Roger live because Howard is on keyboards.

It was July 1st 1978 around dusk in Dallas Texas at the Cotton bowl with palm trees on the stage as Heart opened their portion of the Texxas Jam. I remember the drummer had curved extensions on his tom-toms and every time I hear this version of this song I get goose bumps from the memories of that day.

So amazing.🤩🤯 So, like Devil Delight, we know from The Second Ending that this was written in ‘75. Details, but this vocal melody in the chorus was still around two years later in ‘77. The re-released 1978 Magazine version is when the chorus changed, I’m guessing? All good, fever brain digging it all. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
