Heart of Wales Line Trail | Section Five | Llandrindod to Llanwrtyd Wells | Day One

We’re back on the Heart of Wales Line Trail again at last following a global pandemic and three lockdowns. We tackled another few sections of the trail over a two day trip with a wild camp in between. A bit out of practice but a few new toys to try out including a trial of the latest Lanshan Pro One tent which is so light compared to anything else out there on the market.

We intend to tackle the whole route over the course of the year and will make these videos as we go to hopefully encourage others to do the same.
This is a new walking trail that utilises the beautiful single-track railway route that runs from Shrewsbury all the way down to Swansea. The trail officially starts at Craven Arms and is 144 miles long to Llanelli in South Wales.

There you can download the GPX files for your navigation device. My preferred method is to use an app called Viewranger which you can download onto your phone and the route is also available on there.

@@ashropshirelad Christ it must have looked real bad , I tried sealing my SIX MOON DESIGNS GATEWOOD CAPE straight from the tube without using white spirits to thin down the sealer or a small paint brush and you think YOUR TENT LOOKS BAD WELL ITS NOT THE ONLY ONE . Keep the videos coming and take care on them hills and take plenty of rest breaks as long as you get where you want by nightfall whats the rush .

Excellent, its a very decent tent I will give it that, not sure how id feel caught out in a storm though. I did miss the extra space and mainly the two vestibules of the Lanshan 2. Always a compromise though.

don’t you just love the ease of a pot coozy .... everyone should have one they really save on gas and it gives you loads of cheap options on food with bought dehydrated food as well... if you have a dehydrator try making some spicy beef jerky or mini sausage from minced beef ... it’s delicious 😋 ... you guys beast moded that first day.... 17 miles phew 😅 i do that in two days and i’m pooped .... take it easy out there mate ... looking forward to Pt2... atb Dave Mc

@@ashropshirelad ... yeh i’m limiting myself to between 8 to 12 miles a day any more than that and i’m hurtin and frankly when i get to camp i wanna have enough energy to maybe do some fishing , process some firewood , filter some water etc etc it’s supposed to be fun after all not a grind .... anyhoo hope the soreness wears off ... keep drinking plenty of liquids to flush that lactic acid out the muscles .... take care matey ... atb Dave Mc
