This is a new walking trail that utilises the beautiful single-track railway route that runs from Shrewsbury all the way down to Swansea. The trail officially starts at Craven Arms and is 144 miles long to Llanelli in South Wales.
See the Heart of Wales Line website here for up to date timetables: www.heart-of-w...
Today myself and Dave Outdoors started on the first of a multi day route called the Heart of Wales Line Trail. We walked section one which is 8 kilometres from Craven Arms railway Station to Broome Railway station. (We did it in reverse to fit in with the timetables.)
We intend to tackle the whole route over the course of the year and will make these videos as we go to hopefully encourage others to do the same.
Please visit the Heart of Wales Line Trail website for more information. www.heart-of-w...
They also have a facebook group for the trail which you can join: / heartofwaleslinetrail
There you can download the GPX files for your navigation device. My preferred method is to use an app called Viewranger which you can download onto your phone and the route is also available on there.

There is also a Guidebook available from Amazon so please see the link below

Very good mate. The rule about benches should be made a law. Sit down and take the view in.

Its a nice cafe too I can vouch, I was expecting an overblown version of a trendy sandwich but it was good thick bacon and proper lean sausage! Highly recommend. Also, if you like maps and guidebooks it's heaven!!!!

I'll let you into a secret, I'm on the 'Beta Program' with Viewranger, I'm always a couple of releases ahead and I get free maps! I have to say that even without that I would pay the full subscription in a heartbeat as they are always adding new features. Buddybeacon is really useful as I make my daughter put it on her phone when she's out with the horse and then I can always know exactly where she is if there is a problem,.

Awesome video, quick question do you prefer ViewRanger over the OSmaps app if so why ?
@ashropshirelad
@ashropshirelad 4 жыл бұрын
I'm entrenched in Viewranger as I have a lot of maps downloaded through it now. I find it more adaptable as it is good for the bike too. It also records more data and they keep adding features all the time. I really rate it. Works with apple watch too so you can have a map on your wrist!!!

how good is viewranger ? is it free or do you have to pay extra for os maps etc ?
@ashropshirelad
@ashropshirelad 4 жыл бұрын
I love my view ranger app, I've had it a few years now. You can either buy (and own) the map tiles, just a few pence each. or you can pay a subscription and have the whole country available. It also does a few more tricks but having a pinpoint on a OS map is amazing, a few years ago, nearly impossible!!!
