Ectopics are the worst feeling in the world. I wish I didn’t feel them, some people are so blessed to not notice they have them. I’ve been searching for 4 years on answers and I think my biggest issue is just accepting that this is probably the normal for the rest of my life. I’ve gone through so many cardiologists telling me it’s benign and just shrugged me off onto medications that still never work. Breathe work helps a lot, although they still occur unfortunately. Sometimes when I measure my exotics, I’m have 20 a minute. I can go weeks or a couple months without one palpitation, or sometimes they will last for days or weeks.. completely interrupting work and social life because of how uncomfortable it feels. It sucks. Sometimes reading other people’s stories even calm the palpitations knowing I’m not alone. ❤

This exercise DEFINITELY works and I would encourage everyone who suffers like me from pvc’s to try it!! Take charge of your health and don’t let these damn things control you. It’s mind over matter and just think positive thoughts on how you’re going to get rid of the pvc’s, and they will begin to taper down and eventually go away. I wish all of you success in your journeys to end your pvc’s. Stay strong.

Sylvie Charbonneau : I have them when I'm laying down too. When I got a Holter Monitor in 1997 for this problem the guy that fitted me with it asked If I experience it more when I'm laying down because most people that have this do. I take a beta blocker for it but doesn't clear it up completely so I went to my doctor I go to now to find something else and have to have a new one called a Zio Patch put on tomorrow as I stated to another reply below because my doctor wants to know exactly what I'm experiencing. Another exercise that calms the heart is humming for five minutes. But you must keep your mouth closed and take each breath in through breathing through the nose when you are humming. This exercise raises nitric oxide in your blood that calms the heart. It is also important to breathe through the nose all the time (which needs practice).
@AquilaTheHun Жыл бұрын
Nicric oxid relaxes the arteries, nothing to do with the heart especially with its electrical system. But humming stimulates the vagal nerve which does have to do with the autonomous nervous system which has to do with the electrical impulses. I think this is the theory behind AUMMMM ...

What has most helped reduce my PVCs is regular walking(two miles/day) and weight training. I used to have the most emphatic PVCs you can imagine -- it was like an explosion in my chest -- BANG! It would happen while lying in the bed, as well as upon inhaling or exhaling. At the time, I was completely deconditioned, and also had way too fast heart rate. I had a million dollar work up and they found nothing physically wrong with my heart. The cardiologist and my pcp said the best thing to ameliorate the problem would be aerobic exercise. Upon finally accepting this advice and starting my walking and exercise program, I now have markedly reduced incidence of PVCs, although I do occasionally still get some mild ones. Now, I'm also taking magnesium, which does seem to relax my vessels and lower blood pressure.

I started to get those about a few months ago after the first panic attack, my TSH was 7.3 when I tested and I had Vitamin B12 and D deficiency. I had developed cardiophobia with people suddenly dying of cardiac issues here in India post covid. So the ectopics did go away for about 10-12 days in between when I started to get relief from phobia, got myself relaxed, did yoga and assured that Yoga and Ayurveda has cure for most illnesses. Now with a recent episode of panic attack while I was in a stressful argument with someone. They've come back, i get about 3-5 of them each day and sometimes just 2 while relaxed. I also do pass a burp straight after it. It could be anxiety and gas combo. Anyways, your video has given me a ray of hope. I'll come back to post my experience with it. God bless you sir.

I started taking magnesium (250mg twice a day) and it improved slightly but I was still having them.. especially in the morning and after eating. I tried this breathing exercise and they greatly improved immediately. On the second day, they have stopped altogether! One thing though, I don't just do it for 5 minutes. I've adjusted my breathing so I take longer inhales and exhales throughout the day. This type of breathing has also given me the added benefit of being more calm and relaxed and I also noticed I am sleeping better too. Try it! I will be cutting back on the magnesium tablets and replacing them with natural foods that have high amounts of magnesium in them. Dr. Gupta, thank you so much for sharing this exercise!

Hi, I just came across this while looking for Mudras to help with ectopics. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this out there. Breath work really does help and although the effects are greater during the breathing I think there is a great deal of truth in your comments regarding the technique calming the mind and how the mind exacerbates the problem by focusing on the symptoms. This is an excellent video, thank you.

Hello, I totally understand how you feel, because I have this too, I can feel my heart beat all day long, I thought I was in bad luck, when I found Dr Gupta on KZbin, I finally know I am not alone. Do you still can feel your heart beat or fluttering?

@@KCPang-mz9bo. Isee you commented two months ago, so I’m hoping you’ll read this and reply 🙏. Especially since most comments are a few years old lol. I get PVCs. But I’ve also had runs of SVT where I needed to get cardioverted, and another time adenosine because Valsalva maneuvers weren’t working. But recently I’ve been having short runs of Vtach. Was hospitalized for it. Still no answers from my cardiologist though. I’m pushing to have a catheter ablation but they keep saying it’s not necessary 🤦🏻♂️. It’s driving me insane! 😫 how long have you had them? Do you ever go into runs like I described?
@KCPang-mz9boАй бұрын
@lifeinthevalley2070 Hi, I definitely can share my story with you, my SVTs started 2022 Nov to 2024 May. I went to ER 5 times because of the high heart beats (168-150), it could last for hours or even days. I got referral to see a cardiologist, I did heart ultrasound, X ray on the chest, bloodwork, Exercise stress test … everything was normal except they found my ECG was not normal, it is a type of arrhythmia. And that was the reason why my heart rate could jump to 168. My cardiologist put me on bate blocker but it didn’t work well, so he recommended catheter ablation. I finally got it done 2024 May. After the ablation, I still have PVCs a few times during the day but at least I don’t have SVT anymore. And after watching Dr Sanjay’s videos, I starts taking magnesium taurate which claims the fluttering feeling a lot. The ablation didn’t treat my arrhythmia at all but it got rid of the palpitations, no more ER visit. I understand how frustrated when waiting for doctor’s answer, sometimes my heart was fluttering like crazy. Are you on bate blocker? Did they put you on 2 weeks holter monitor? You probably need it, it records your ECG so they will decide if ablation is right for you.

Thank you for helping us find many different ways to feel better. We are all grasping at any straw to normalize ourselves. Yesterday after having a strong ectopic heartbeat that left me grasping the windowsill, very dizzy, breathing hard, and having that huge gong sound roar in my ears, in an effort to find relief from how scary that was, I went out and bought a homeopathic called Calms. Usually things like this don’t work for me but I must say I did feel noticeably calmer after taking it, like coming down off the fear tightrope a notch. I’ll be practicing this breathing exercise at least daily as I find it is also calming. Thank you again for trying for us! ❤️

my experience ... i've had, and still have ectopics (not maybe every single day) ... had several ecg's (recently) and ecocardiogram (some time ago) and my cardiologist which is also a very understanding person like you are Sanjay, (she noticed i was having lots of anxiety because of all this) she looked me into the eyes and told me THIS IS TOTALLY NOT DANGEROUS AND NOT IMPORTANT (unless you'd get 30.000 or 40.000 ectopics at day) and she told me we health-anxiety people tendto worry about these issues and therefore trigger them somehow much more than they would actually happen if we would stay or would try to stay calm.... since then i've been trying to be more positive and truth to be told if you dont give them so much relevance... well that's that you can go on with your life.

Thank you for this video and bringing information to those of us trying to figure things out. I have anxiety and my therapist wanted me to practice five minutes of intentional deep breathing each day to help me learn how to relax. In me, I found that this did a couple of things. It helped me relax, as it was intended to do. It helped me to see that my hiatial hernia was up or not because I can't get a good deep breath when it is up. And it also helped keep me from hyperventilating which goes hand in had (in me) with the shallow breathing and the anxiety. Oh one more thing that I just thought of, it also helps take my focus from waiting for the next palpitation to concentrating on relaxing which also seems to help.

When I have heart palpitations--I immediately take in a long deep breath--hold it-- bend forward-- slowly releasing. I keep it up for about 3Xs. It regulates and normalized the heart rythum. Also, you have to either cut out caffeinated drinks and chocolate ice cream OR greatly moderate them. I went to vanilla ice cream for that occasional treat and I put Lemon in water, with stevia, dash of cinnamon, and cayenne In My Coffee Mug. ( the mug in hand. Sykes the brain into thinking it's coffee) it helped me to make the switch.....No more panicky attacks, heart racing etc. Oh, also I should say. I quit smoking and switched over to stevia or pure maple syrup. That white sugar is a killer and acts just like cocaine in the brain. I was suffering from post Covid palpitations and irregular heartbeats which can be really annoying and worrysome at times. I had consulted a few doctors including a Cardiologist, but none could really give me a proper solution to my problem. Then one day someone suggested me to take a 20 minute brisk walk every morning and immediately after that doing some breathing exercises which included slow breathing by cutting down on the number of breaths taken per minute. I started doing this and to my surprise I could see a drastic improvement in my condition just in a week. The palpitations, arrhythmias, fluttering in the chest and all the other associated issues improved dramatically... I think anyone suffering from similar problems should surely give this a try...

Just wanted to share that I've been doing this exercise...with a slight variation...and getting good results. The slight variation is this: inhale 5 seconds...hold 5 seconds...exhale for 5 seconds...hold for 5 seconds. As I get more relaxed and comfortable, I can sometimes increase this to 6-6-6-6...and sometimes even 7-7-7-7. I also do it for at least 20 minutes straight. One key is to use as little force as possible...ease into it...the less strain the better. Thanks for your excellent channel Dr. Gupta.

Can I just say something about this "deep" breathing? I was just listening to Michael Norman of Panic Free TV and he was explaining how hyperventilation causes a drop in carbon dioxide in turn altering the pH of the blood and causing the body's organs to behave differently. He also mentioned that "deep" breathing, as we've all been told to do when we need to relax may actually lead to hyperventilation for some of us. Now the problem with that is if hyperventilation turns out to be a cause of ectopic heartbeats, and people who have panic attacks have inadvertently become conditioned to fear their palpitations, they will spiral into a full-blown panic attack and just ended up with more and more palpitations. The breathing technique which I think is the one that helps is, rather than "deep" it is a slowing of the breath, almost not breathing at all. I was reading about the Buteyko breathing technique when I was looking for ways to help my asthma and then I was looking for ways to help with panic attacks when I had one after my asthma medication (Symbicort) seemed to trigger a panic attack, then I stumbled across Michael Norman of Panic Free TV. I'm only up to episode 2 of his free online course and haven't heard the breathing technique that he recommends but I bet it's going to be something similar to this slowing down of the breath, like Buteyko. Breathing through your nose but not deeply into your chest, just so lightly that you almost aren't breathing at all. And then once you've master it, you have to remember to do it as soon as you feel your panic rising or preferable as soon as you recognise a negative thought you are having that will cause you to gasp, or as soon as you get an ectopic heart beat if that's the first thing you notice, and then see if that helps. It seems that the words "anxiety" and "deep breathing" are thrown around so much that we don't realise what our normal habits of breathing and thinking are actually doing to our bodies. I bet most of us here hyperventilate, you know, take in a big gulp or air, when we get stressed, and start the whole ball rolling with this vicious cycle of ramping up our fight or flight response and the palpitations are probably a part of that for some people. Magnesium and potassium levels, possibly sodium if one is eating a low carb diet, can certainly cause palpitations too, but I bet this slowing down of the breath will really help if we can remember to do it at the key moments when it matters. There are a few demonstration videos on youtube for the Buteyko breathing technique. I'd try that rather than breathing in slowly for 5 seconds because I think I would over-breath and end up hyperventilating slightly if I spent 5 seconds breathing in if I was already starting to panic. Thanks for your videos by the way. It's really great that you are giving your time to help us all here on youtube!

@@SLASHA__ Glad someone read my comment ;) I think I remember the Buteyko technique in summary to be breathing down into the lower part of your belly rather than your chest, and to breathe in slowly for about 4 seconds, then out slowly for 6 seconds. There is one other interesting (maybe a bit alternative for some) but a technique that, if nothing else feels a bit like a massage - it's called EFT (emotional freedom technique) and it involved some rather odd yet satisfying tapping on your meridian points. I have been using it recently and some of the little asthma attacks that I get and would normally reach for my puffer have gone away by themselves after doing this tapping, which makes me wonder how much some of our ills are triggered just by our emotional state. Anyway, tapping! Bit weird but some swear by it. Google it. It might also help with palpitations..?

I read that if you hum it helps like hum to your favourite song. Breathe in through your nose and hum. Maybe this slows down your breathing too. No harm in trying it x
