That was a great era but they are all different people now that have been doing different things for 40 years. I don't think you can re-create something like that, but just enjoy the great recordings from that period. As much as I loved the music from that period it was quite obvious by Private Audition that incarnation had run it's course.

Roger Fisher is soon underated because of the break up had the band stayed together and continued in their hard rock roots Roger Fisher would have been iconic, the average listener has no idea that he is the Manon guitar and the writer of all great hard rocking heart songs.

I've come to a revelation that's not so much a revelation as it is an observation. That is, you no longer know any band members. Not that there are "bands" anymore that even make it mainstream. But, there was a time when you knew every member of a band, like Heart, and they were legends that could be identified with to this day. Now, "music" has zero identity, other than the "performer" who somehow is appointed to stardom either through looks, connections, or maybe luck. It's a sad state of music. But....I do believe that actual talent is still there. It's just the talent is more local, in less prominent media forms and maybe smaller venues. I think there's good in that. Kinda nice to know musicians and singers on a more local, intimate level. Back to the roots.

A little history to put this song in perspective for the Heart fans that were not around in the 70's. This song hit the radio's in 1971. Most cars only had AM radios and no air conditioning! We rolled the windows down to stay cool and cranked the radio even louder to blast our favorites over the sound of the wind as we flew down the highway. This was a big song in 71 and the guy won a grammy that year for singing it. He did not write it but it will forever be his song. Here we are 6 years later and Heart is doing a cover of this song. I'm sure they also remember blasting it out of their car radios and singing along. It was still a popular radio song even in 1977. Songs seemed to stay on the radio's longer back then. For those wanting to know what the original sounded like here's a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fV69dX6fp8-Ena8

@UserName_no12 жыл бұрын
Most new cars by that time came with power steering and brakes and you could get air conditioning as options. But used cars of that era (from the late 50s and early 60s) had the 255/455 air conditioning model you referenced. 2/4 windows rolled down at 55mph. And for the AM (mono/dial) radio you had the one speaker in the center of the dash. Even when FM (AM/FM/push button) came out it was about another ten years before the transmission signal included stereo. The reason songs stayed on the radio longer back then.....was that's all there was....radios. There were no tape decks or CD players in the older cars. I don't think 8-track tape decks showed up until 69-70. Cassettes mid 70s. Today radio listeners are as common as newspaper readers.... As far as Heart's cover of this song.....it sucks. Their cover of Stairway to Heaven when Robert, John, and Jimmy aka Led Zeppelin were inducted into the R&RHOF was better. And that's saying a lot cause I'm a huge Heart fan. At a Greensboro concert I jumped down from the second tier (about 12'-14' drop) to get closer to the stage.
