Lowell George the single most underrated musician of all time.

Tyler Thompson a lot of guitar players respect his slide playing, but he had a great voice, although he’s kind of restrained in this one.

I was at his last performance in DC- ironic that his death mirrored the words of "Fat Man in the Bathtub"- ("don't want no speedballs, cause' I might die tryin'").

Anyone who plays this style of music and plays slide guitar knows who Lowell George is. I love Little Feat so I was a fan as a teenager. I was influenced by him as a guitar player.

What an emotional range Lowell had. And a voice like no other. What gifts he had. Still fascinated by this guy all these years later. His music always fresh.

@@dubliner27 she was only 19 years old at the time. That’s one of the magic parts about this recording is she is such a newbie. Almost giggly out of high school be sure to listen to the full version of this show which is posted here somewhere the quality isn’t great, but it’s a gem through and through, it include some of the best versions of some of his songs for sure like China White which gets way down in the gutter.

Had the pleasure of seeing Little Feat in Glasgow in 76,during an ongoing love affair with Linda Ronstadt. Her talent is limitless, her beauty, on a spiritual level. Why on earth was Lowel George taken so soon? Some things don't make any sense.

It you want to be completely knocked off your feet pull up Valerie Carter's award-winning star-studded 1st album/CD and listen to this same song- Lowell George co-produced (with George Massenburg and Bob Irwin) Valerie’s first solo album, Just A Stone’s Throw Away (Columbia, 1977). Stone’s Throw featured an all-star line-up of supporting players, including George, Linda Ronstadt, Earth, Wind and Fire’s Maurice White, the Lovin’ Spoonful’s John Sebastian and singer Deniece Williams on backing vocals, Jackson Browne on piano and guitar, Toto’s Jeff Porcaro on drums, and Little Feat’s (and one-time James Taylor band member) Billy Payne on keyboards. The LP also contained three of Valerie’s compositions, two of which were written with Lowell George. AND THEY DO THIS SAME SONG- HEARTACHE. with Bill Payne at the piano....Linda Ronstadt on backing vocals--- YOU WILL WEEP. sparse production on this tune is so elegant and "live". They just don't produce like this anymore. Enjoy....This Album is a gem. Every single cut!!!!

@Armchair Rambo - Yes, it's definitely Linda: an excerpt from a '75 Live radio appearance on WHMS FM, Maryland ...it came right after they sang 'Willin'. The two of them were cheating on George's wife, which she mentioned at her '77 Atlanta concert, 2 years before George ate & overdosed himself to a heart attack on tour. Sad life of someone with no control over his appetites.
