Many years ago, as a boy soldier in training in the British Army, my mates and I watched a film about the Marine Corps in WWII or Korea. On the way back from a battle they braced up and began to sing: "Left, left, you had a good job but you left - that's right". Well, as 16 year old boys this impressed us. The following morning we asked our drill instructor if we could sing this song. Naturally, he told us to f&*k off, there was no way we, as British soldiers, were going to sing a US Marine song. He told us we would sing a British Army marching song (he made this up on the spot, as we didn't have marching songs). He started off at the top of his voice, to the tune of Colonel Bogie.."Bollocks, they make a damned good stew, bollocks and the same to you". I can't remember the rest of it, as I was too busy nearly wetting myself laughing. Strangely, I can remember the words to the US Marine song in it's entirety.

I'm writing out an outline for a sequel novel. MSgt Jones has spent 5 years on security forces duty in Europe (Bosnia/Kosovo) and Middle East (Kuwait) and cycles back stateside. He's requested by BGen Ring to get a new unit of Recon Marines up and going with the creation of MarForSOC. These young hard chargers, are full of piss and determination, but almost all of them are green 'boots', even the squad leaders have never seen combat. By day he Stoney Jackson/Gunny Highway's them, at night he's playing the guitar at 'Globe & Anchor', now owned and ran by Aggie, where he drinks with Suede (a construction contractor), and Aponte (retired Marine who works on base as a civilian). One ugly afternoon Stitch learns that the new Company Commander is a female Ivy League graduate, and has her "own ideas" for how things will be done. So as the headbutting, egos, and PC culture commences....its all thrown sideways when 9/11 happens; and the training is now called upon to become reality.

@stevefowler21122 жыл бұрын
@@MS-xn9yl I have a funny Ranger story for you. I as stated I was a Recon Marine and got sent to Benning for jump school (I had just completed Pre-Combat Diver School, which was a real ball buster and Jump school was a total blast and a much needed respite. the PT standard at Jump School was just enough to stay in decent shape and the chow halls at Benning were like 4 star restaurants by Camp LeJeune standards. The jump drills were all fun and the 5 jumps were incredibly exciting. Anyway I had a great time at Benning). When I graduated I drove over to see my GF who lived on Hilton Head Island, S.C. and she took me to some big rock and roll bar down by the river in Savanah. We were drinking rum and cokes and having a great night and there were two Rangers there at the bar right beside us (I can/could spot spec ops troops a mile away and I overheard them talking and picked up that they were Rangers. It was probably pretty obvious to them I was a Marine too by the 1,000 yard stares I was giving I assume). They were eyeing my GF and saying stuff just out of ear shot. I was a cocky SOB and had a very short fuse back then so was kind of itching for a fight, yet hey I also knew she was damn cute and looked hot in her tight jeans and in a bar it is to be expected that young guys are going to stare and talk. I was trying to stay nonchalant about it and just worry about ourselves, but I came back from the head and they were both chatting her up and then one of them touched her hair/shoulder right as i walked up behind them. I can still remember my exact words. I said "Keep your fucking hands off my God damn girlfriend you fucking pussy Ranger". At that it was on, he bowed up and I knew a punch or kick was coming. I immediately kicked him with a very hard front kick to the solar plexus which put him down and stunned him. Ranger #2 was then came around the table throwing punches and kicks and by then Ranger #1 was back up and it was really on (not to brag but my Dad boxed in college and the Army and taught me to box at a young age and I boxed Golden Glove through Jr. High and H.S., with a 22 - 4 record and I also held a green belt in Okinawan Judo at the time. as a Recon Marine I had also had quite a bit of hand to hand combat training which mostly consisted of karate and judo. I went on to earn brown belts in both Okinawan Karate and Judo on Okinawa and got temp assigned to be a Close Combat Instructor a couple years down the road, but that was downrange from this fight). I took a few partially blocked glancing punches and kicks but I was holding my own and caught Ranger #2 with a short right hook to the temple that crumpled him and then Ranger #1 managed to get into me and I put him down hard on the concrete floor with a very basic half assed judo hip throw. I could tell he was pretty well trained himself because he stretched his arm/shoulder out when he landed to blunt the impact like you are taught in judo, but on a concrete floor he was still hurt pretty bad. At that point I just saw a punch coming out of the corner of my eye and everything went black. I came to in the parking lot with Cops and the bar owner standing over me. After I was seen by Medics the Cops told me the story which was one of the Rangers had a broken wrist (Ranger #1 obviously) and that I had been hit by a Bouncer with brass knuckles. The brass knuckles were apparently illegal, so the bar owner was in more trouble than me. The Rangers had self transported themselves, presumably to a hospital and both declined to press charges, I had a decent cut on my right cheek and a headache, but I also declined to go to a hospital and said I would not press assault charges against the bouncer or bar owner If they wouldn't either. The cops wrote me a disorderly conduct civil infraction ticket as did the Rangers. My GF drove us to her house on Hilton Head and that was that. That was in 1977 and was the last fight I was ever in. The Rangers acquitted themselves well, they just ran into the wrong Recon Marine that night.

HAHAHAAH LOL it is funny how one platoon sings about chevy and the other ford.
@robusthedgehog5 жыл бұрын
Fatih mehmet damn right but did y'all notice that both the cooler platoon and the cooler cadence was about Ford? No coincidence buddy

Some people, most of them Marines, would say he was a second class soldier............... (I'm not saying this, I don't know your father or any of the unit he was in)

My kind of film, no diversity shit, a real man film..
@bezejel5 жыл бұрын
What do you mean? It's full of diversity.
@BudSchnelker5 жыл бұрын
I think what he means is that it wasn't shoved in your face as if the whole point of the movie was to be a commercial for Hollywood's SJW bona fides. Today, there would be a half dozen women in the class and they'd all be ass-kicking world beaters, as well as the brains of the outfit.
@stevefitk39615 жыл бұрын
mcsars diversity films nowadays is making men like women and women like men, including 72 genders in a movie, having a gay and lesbian couple in it too, having all races just for the sake of it. This is a real movie, it represents the marines how they actually are, they’re not putting a full black platoon just for diversity or women in thisshit
@bezejel5 жыл бұрын
@@stevefitk3961 What movie has 72 genders?
@stevefitk39615 жыл бұрын
mcsars including many of those genders not all of them obviously, recent Hollywood movies, sequels or remakes

52 Area back in the day. Still look like that pretty much exactly like that in 96 when I went through. I’m sure it doesn’t resemble this anymore.

I love this movie. It's got alot of humor, but the title always confused me. Heartbreak Ridge in Korea wasn't fought by the Marines, it was the Army.

He is one dude that I would not want to mess with at 60 years old and even at 94 years old. Probably kick ass now with out asking questions.

Clint is the poster boy for lifelong fitness. Low-carb diet + regular/consistent weight training + prioritizing good quality sleep and yeah almost ZERO alcohol and smoking. Self-Discipline can do wonders for your body and mental health.

my one time lipping off in boot camp was the moment I knew what physical pain was. While leading a squad across the grinder to the mess hall, a very pretty wave walked by, she smiled at me. That was when I fucked up. " Squad, eyes left." That Lt. asked us all to stop, asked who we were and then made us all do 100 push ups on a 87 day in sunny San Diego. ouch.
