Our caseworker was the same way. My oldest has down syndrome and autism but he's super smart at escaping so they couldn't place him anywhere for very long at all. He ended up living at the CPS office for over 2 weeks where the caseworker acted as his mother (she was young with no kids.) The whole office fell in love with him. Took a year to get everything ironed out to get him back from the last placement they had in the state for him over 6 hours away. She had been a caseworker for 3 years and never been able to make a return until me. By the end she was my biggest supporter and being able to place him back home gave her the hope to do her job a few more years. She said most parents just give up even when their kids are healthy and they have family support. #wedorecover

Although the whole situation is effed up, I love seeing a caseworker emotional! It appears she really cares, when we all know we see so many who are really burned out or are detached. I would love to know more about the Mom situation and what went on to traumatize these 2 babies so badly!

It's such a frustrating cycle. The social workers are burnt out then they randomly quit, pushing their case load onto another case worker that is over loaded. Most SWs have so many cases that they can't really keep them straight or remember much about them. They commonly mix things up or can't give you simple answers on the fly. My foster daughter's first social worker quit out of blue. Turns out all the things she was suppose to be doing, she wasn't, probably because of the burnout. So services weren't ordered properly and certain services weren't started at all. So now the dept in August is gonna have to ask for 6 more months instead of terminating because she failed to "offer certain services". Now our current SW is terrible. She's completely checked out and over worked. I wouldn't be surprised if she quit soon too. She doesn't respond to texts or calls, we bring serious issues to her attention and it's ignored and we haven't had our mandatory monthly visit since early May. Also the hiring process takes FOREVER. Even for simple positions like a transporter. It took 5 months to hire one and have them up and running by themselves. A social worker is even harder. It would probably take a year from the moment they opened the position to the time they were on their own. Additionally all the people they are hiring right now have like to no experience. They are fresh out of school and are clueless, naive, gullible, anxious, idealistic, lazy pushovers. Nothing like the social workers of old, that's for damn sure!

As a advocate it’s very rare to see a caseworker show emotions like that, it’s great in this case bc she’s is advocating for these kids that want to be loved n cared for properly and they aren’t getting that from mom, it’s probably more irritating that the mom is giving false hope to these children and that brings more emotions to the situation.

How does someone with 9 CPS cases get 20 months to drag out another one? Does she not care even a little bit about her children having stability?! I find it frightening how many people that lose the right to take care of their own children, be employed to take care of a vulnerable stranger, as a home health aide. I understand now why so many judges make it a part of probation that they cannot work with minors or as caregivers. Vet people before you hire help for loved ones!

As a former foster parent i truly believe that a parent who has lost custody should have ONE chance and a definite time limit to get it together. Perhaps, depending on the circumstances, they should be allowed continued contact with a child but children need STABILITY. They need a sense of belonging and permanency. What i witnessed as a foster mom broke my heart. Children that never knew when the rug was getting pulled from beneath their feet. It made me sick to see how desensitized some social workers became to the crap they put the children through, and the ones that really cared would get thwarted by the courts. Society needs to do better! 😢
@JulieannsSerenity
@JulieannsSerenity 4 ай бұрын
I completely agree with you as a former foster parent myself. Whatever happened to the child is the reason they were removed from the home. However, that seems to get lost and the focus is placed on getting the parent to do what needs to be done. I have no issue with that and things happen, keep the child safe till they get there. I understand. The parents get EVERYTHING they need. If they don’t make it during that first chance, that’s it! The workers shouldn’t have to beg them for this or that, proof of pay stubs, going to every appointment, etc. The child focus disappears to the extent that it no longer becomes about them! Just because they were biologically born by those 2 people does not mean that is what’s BEST for the CHILD! Sorry to be yelling, it’s just so angering! Truly, it’s like having the entire world yanked away from the child and have them be told-Sorry, no one loves you enough or wants you enough to give you permanency in anything-a parent, a home, a school, a schedule, love…We’re all going to fail you in that for the next year or so, so hope you can handle it. Good luck! I mean seriously, that’s what is really happening! It’s cruel. It should never stop being about the children and of course she loves her mom and wants to be home but she doesn’t know what might be good for her. It’s everyone’s job to make sure the child is as happy, stable and loved as possible while knowing it won’t be up and changed again when and if bio parents get their act together!

“She won’t physically abuse her daughter” is an awfully low bar. Mom’s lawyer doesn’t care about what’s best for the child. That psychologist’s recommendation list was from prior to those things being initiated - not necessarily what she’d recommend now, with all the new information. Besides, it’s not about what the mom’s psychologist thinks - it’s about what the child’s experts recommend. I don’t like mom’s lawyer one bit.

Yeah I have so many questions. Her house is fine but she has some large bills? They only drag it out for 20 mos if they think there's hope and more services will lead to reunification. I dont understand how someone can have 9 cases and still have parenting rights after 20 months, is it? I have to wonder, that maybe, just maybe, some parents want these cases to go on for years because they are actually getting "paid" to do so...kwim? Im sure they've helped her out with a lot of things over the years, and if her rights were terminated, all that would stop....or i am way off on this possibility?

When a child has severe behavior issues, I blame the parents, children are products of their environment, in a perfect world I wish parents had to be qualified before they could get pregnant and have a child, that's just wishful thinking but we sure have some Fd up kids and if children are the future, then the future looks bleak

Dad #2 not wanting to testify says a whole lot, but understandable because he dodged a bullet. Mom's lawyer cutting her off was the best thing for Mom. Keep her directed and don't let her shoot herself in the foot. I'm wondering if the trauma that the daughter has gone through has anything to do with random men in Mom's life. Mom kept dodging the question on gap in employment - she's lying. I understand why they are taking 20 months because there's two fathers and they have to exhaust all options. This caseworker needs to get a Nobel peace prize - my heart breaks for her and definitely for these children. I can't imagine doing the job of CPS workers. I would literally want to adopt every one of the children. I'll be looking for the August 29th update. Hopefully you can put it up. Thank you for your content - I've been binging all weekend. It's really cold that courts are ever willing to remove parents right to be a part of their kids lives simply over "stability" aka are you currently going through tough times... how does tough times automatically mean not a good parent? I'm not talking criminal activity. That's different. Something like dad got fired from his job should not be any of the courts business.

Stability isn’t about not losing a job. Stability is about not moving every month, changing schools multiple times a year, having New Romantic partners coming in and out, being emotionally and physically available and sober. Tough times are fine. Selfish chaotic living is not.

@@rachel8622 to you tough times are fine. Most courts view tough times as the same as chaotic living. They will keep cs the same because your earning potential means more then having a hard time finding a job that matches the one that laid you off. Sometimes moving several times is part of tough times. The court doesn't care. To them that means you don't "deserve" to have ample parenting time.

@@activemanishereplease link a video where that happens. I work with the courts and have had kids returned to parents living in a van,car, etc. Please link a single video in which the sole factor was tough times and there isn’t abuse:neglect/drugs/safety/etc. I can wait.

If the father was doing everything that the mother has, the court would not allow 9 CPS cases, perjury on the stand, and all of these warning signs. Men are treated unfairly too often. (Obviously not this sperm donor, just men in general.)

I didn't hear why he was removed either but considering this isn't her first CPS case (10th) and she's a compulsive liar who still won't do jack the caseworker says I hope she isn't allowed to ever have these kids back

I came to the comments to see if anyone knows why the kids aren't with the mother. This is why abortion should not be looked down upon.

If this girl don't get a stable home without visit from mother, we will either see her in drug related cases when she become an adult or in worst case something like a brutal murder case... (I worked with youth in institutions for 8 years (until I became like the caseworker that testify here, and become disabled from burn out. She needs to change work fast. You need to be able to detach your emotions when working with kids/youth. Sounds bad, but you will start to think "what if" everytime cases doesn't work out if you are not good at detachment...)

What an opinionated woman. How is watching KZbin with your kids such a bad thing? It's prevalent in kids lives today and is a great way to start conversations about very important life things.

She has been on this case for 2 years. I hope every caseworker gets involved and fights for these kids. How can someone stay emotionless after seeing constant heartbreak from young children? I think she is amazing

I think her job brings a lot of horrific situations. This case has taken on a different life of its own in that the kids have needed to spend so much time with the CPS workers and even in the office when nobody was available to even look after this little girl. I don't think it's unhealthy to feel invested, she's been her voice. She's watching in real time as a child is broken over and over again. Should she be this directly involved, nope, but through no fault of her own, it's been forced on her and many other professionals in this case.

I think spending 2 years watching a “mother” all but refuse to do what she needs to get her child back knowing she’s had 9 other cases and is aware of the expectations and consequences would cause any person with half a heart to be emotional. I can’t fathom what it’s like to have a child sob and ask you why no one wants them or why mom won’t do what she should do. This caseworker is what everyone should want because she loves these children and she’s not letting anything slip through the cracks.

I will say the crying can be seen as unprofessional.. but at the same time me personally, I would rather see this than see someone who is so cold and desensitized that they dont seem to care, its just another case, another number to them. She’s probably seen all this girl has gone thru in two years how can it not affect her. And she is probably a mother,, seems most case workers are not parents themselves which would also make them seem detached because they have no clue what ripping a child from their home does to not only the parents but more importantly the child, no matter how bad the home is its the childs home and they generally love their parents, siblings, pets etc

@@OnTropolism sure the child feels very attatched to her as well. I remembered being a kid in cps custody in over 50 placements and the one constantly in my life was my dhs worker. As sad as it is. I could always call her as she was my guardian. I saw her a few years ago at a dhs office for another reason. Mind you its been like 20 years. She saw my name come up and came right out to see me and told me i was one of her first cases . Ill never forget her though. I don’t think she realizes what an important role she played in my life. I remember one time as a teen leaving her a vm and accidentally automatically saying love you when i hung up on accident 😂 then I called back and left another vm saying sorry i didnt mean to say love you, lol. Sadly she was the closest thing to family or a parent that i had.. even tho it was nothing close.

It’s frightening how quick US courts strip a parent of their rights and put kids up for adoption. Maybe long term fostering isn’t the best for a child but neither can putting them up for adoption in less than no time

I have had my little ones for 3 years. The youngest being nearly 3. Mom is in jail with an 8 year sentence hanging over her. The children's dad lives 5 blocks away and hasn't seen them in 2 months. When he does see them, there is no interaction with them. How long do you leave them in limbo?

In most cases, it takes a looooong time before they terminate a parent's rights. The goal is always reunification. In some cases, the treatment of the child(ren) is so egregious that rights are terminated as soon as possible. They give chance after chance after chance, too many imo, for these "parents" to get it right and in the meantime the ones who suffer are the kid(s).

Exactly. It's a minimum of a year before they can get to that point unless they argue for aggravated circumstances. Almost every final is scheduled just before the original dismissal date which is a year from removal (or a year from being granted TMC in some cases)
