Known as " The Preacher to preachers " and " The Pastor of pastors " I loved hearing him preach the word of God. When returning from my first ministry trip overseas, many years ago, I encountered him for the first time, on a flight from Miami to Memphis. We spent some time in fellowship together and I learned much even in our short time together. He signed and wrote me a message in the Bible I was carrying at that time. I still have that Bible today some 35 years later. I lived in Memphis close to the Olford Center there in East Memphis. My daughter took some classes at the center for her work in counseling. At one point Stephen and I shared the services of the same Gastro- interologist surgeon. I enjoyed more fellowship and learning time with him in those days visiting the Doctor. All precious moments being discipled in his presence! Miss this man of God!

I remember listening to Olford when he preached 3 consecutive nights at First Baptist Church in Dallas, TX back in 1980. I was just starting in Bible College and was completely blown away by Olford. Hope I can find more of his messages because he was such a great preacher.

I've not heard Stephen Olford for many years. I heard him preach a couple of times at Duke Street Baptist Church in Surrey. I also preached there once, I was fine until the weeks notices were given, early in the service, and it was announced that he and his wife, Heather, were in the congregation. I really had a touch of nerves. Later he spoke with me and graciously thanked me for my ministry. Sadly I was never invited back.

Last time I went to Duke street all they had to offer was a 'get-together' with a beer garden. Ichabod.
@franklinbumgartener13232 жыл бұрын
@@WakeforMe Not sure that beer gardens necessarily equate to Ichabod... at least that's not what 1 Samuel is referring to.

I have listened to this once and will listen to it again. I find the topic extremely compelling. But I am almost in despair at how little effect the preachers have. They talk about the fire of the Holy Spirit and the need for Revival and yet there is only a token of response from their listeners. What is holding Revival back? How can I make a difference?

Each that is given to you...start it out by asking the Lord God Almighty to speak to you on how He can make a difference through you in Jesus name.

@@reksubbn3961 you are welcome! I am learning that a Revival can only come about when each one of us decides to turn away from our disobedience to the Lord (although we are still sinners) and follow Him daily. He loves us and wants a personal intimate relationship with us!

How do you have revival, without the Holy Spirit. Acts 2 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all [a]with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them [b]divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. even Mary Jesus mom was there speaking in tongues see Cht.1 she was Pentecostal not catholic😏🙄🙄

After watching this, I was blown away that a Baptist preacher could preach about the Holy Spirit. When Olford explained that revival was not a THING, but a WHO; and He lives within us… and that we should have living waters flowing up out of our hearts that was it for me. It was so powerful.❤️🔥
