I love listening to your narration! Your plants are gorgeous! I have had a hardy opuntia in my yard in New Hampshire and Massachusetts USA for almost 30 years! It looks awful at the end of the winter when the snow melts but it perks back up and by the end of June, it's full of yellow flowers!

Hello Lyn, a very nice video on your Opuntia Prickly Pear cacti. I never knew there were so many varieties. I especially like the ones you've had for a long time. Opuntias are wonderful. I had to watch the video twice because when Hans' music came on I got up and started dancing. I always enjoy Hans' music! Thank you for this very beautiful video. Sending you and Hans peace and love for an awesome upcoming week from your friend in Georgia!

I have that exact cactus at 8:03 but it’s slightly darker green. I got it as a baby and now it’s the size of a football. It’s spikes are the only ones I’m scared of. They are thin and brittle so they will snap and stick in you and it’s a pain to get them out. I still love that cactus though.

I will definitely bring one home some day! 😁 The one at 16:10, with the white hair, I think this one for sure could be the Opuntia pilifera Nopal Crinado Cocoche Old Man. ...I don't know what all those names mean, lol, but I am staring at it on ebay. As always most enjoyable, I will say I am not into this cactus yet,but your enthusiasm Will get me there one day. I am leaning and enjoying the very different cordex plants at the moment (It's Daz fault) dioscorea elephantipes, fockea erectus, etc but find it Very hard to find both seed and plants in this country? I have a COUPLE from Tony irons in Bristol, but little else. Still very enjoyable vid,we are off to enjoy a short holiday playing Bowls in Norfolk, and look forward to seeing your vids on return, Bill Maureen.

Back in the early sixties, every dime store had a seed rack and, along with the zinnias, marigolds, petunias, etc. they always had packets of mixed cacti. In the packets were cactus seeds of all sizes and types, but there was always one seed that was twice as large as all the others. When I planted my seeds, I always watched to see what came out of that big seed. That seed was always an Opuntia. Sadly, none of the windows in our house were sunny enough, so they didn't survive long. But that was always the first seed to sprout, so I can say that the first cactus that I grew from seed was an Opuntia.
