To be honest i think variann is one of the more underwelming cards this set because when i play against it i just clear and win fatigue battle (might be a bit biased because i mostly play control mage and controladin decks that can play fatigue game

maurice backx yeah, he's kind of one of those cards that looks amazing on paper, but then is much less impressive in practice. control warrior has a lot of support cards. even some of it's amazing late game legendaries are support cards, like alex and geddon. that's not even mentioning acolytes, armor smiths, and all those weapons. still a cool design, and still extremely powerful, but it's a case of "this card probably would have been better in a different class" like ramp druid, but then it would actually be as overpowered in practice as it is on paper, so eh. still about as good as a 10 drop can be without being truly gamebreaking though.

+Sonic Shoe The problem isn't that Varian is UP - he's fine. The problem is that Trump was running a super-late control deck with no answers against early and midgame minions except his axes - and those can only clear one thing a turn, and they have to be in hand or available. No Slams, no Armorsmiths, no Deathlords, no Alexstrasza's Champions, and almost half his deck costs 6+ mana. Varian works fine in a deck with a smoother curve, where you're not hoping to just unload on turn 10 with three giant legendaries or something stupid. That's a nice pipe dream, but it's way, way too slow to ever be competitive.

Warrior is my favorite class in RPGs, and I love the Warrior decks in this game. I'm always happy to see Trump play with a Warrior deck. I'm also really excited they got what is probably the best card in the TGT expansion.

+Mathmachine I'd argue that justicar in pally is actually probably better than varian, and even that might not be the best card from the set. the amount of value you can get off of her by summoning 2 silverhands a turn is crazy. between cards like knife juggler and quarter master, she's basically a win condition giving you a muster for battle every turn for 1 mana less -1 recruit, and the light's justice. your opponent literally can't have enough board clear to deal with it.... well, not unless they are patron. then they just frothing you for 10 quadrillion damage.

+Sonic Shoe Oh yeah, that's probably the single best use of her. But the potential for Varian's ability to give such gigantic board control is insane. Plus, if nothing else, you get a 7/7 and 3 cards for 10 mana. If he doesn't even summon a single minion, it's still pretty good value.

***** yeah, varian's good... but whenever I've seen him played I was kinda like "wow, that sounded a lot cooler on paper" it's easy to forget just how many support cards like weapons and armorsmiths are in a control warrior deck. when he pulls those, you just kinda rush your self even further towards fatigue, since warriors are already *really* good at drawing cards anyways. basically, he's an amazing card that can have some not so amazing outcomes. still pretty good though.

How long has it been since Warrior ran Ysera? I remember way back in the days of Trump's ftp of Shaman, I distinctly remember that Warrior ran Ysera at that time almost consistently, because many of Trump's games against warrior ended with Alexstraza + Ysera Awakens + Grommash for a near unblockable 30 damage burst over 2-3 turns.

+Duncan Van Ooyen I've seen quite a bit of warriors running Ysera at in all the seasons tbh. It ensures that once all the removals are dealt with, you have an infinite card draw with her. I don't really see a replacement for her in CW and I see her as a staple, but that's just my opinion.

TheEverburningFathom Well for a really long time, starting right around the time Naxrammas released, the meta was just so fast (mostly thanks to the rise of Deathrattle Hunter) That Ysera became just too slow in most players' eyes, and even after the nerf of the Undertaker, Hunters and other aggressive decks just kept finding new ways to keep the meta too fast. Maybe I just haven't been matching up against the right people, but I saw a huge drop off of Ysera for the past year or so. I know Trump, for example, hasn't run a Ysera for quite some time, (which is what prompted my original comment) and we all know how slow Trump can be on the uptake sometime. TGT seems to have slowed down the meta quite a bit for that to have happened.

I like to hold onto my shield slams for those ultra aggressive decks. I' can't even count the number of times Shield Block/Shield Slam has kept my board from getting out of control prior to turn 5. Same goes for Execute, Bash and Cruel Taskmaster.

***** Yes. Both the Dragon and Classic variant. A lot. With so many Paladins in the meta, Control Warrior suffers from lack of efficient removal. Can't get the board early enough. Applies against both the aggro and midrange Paladins. Sure it's ladder/legend-viable, but it's not top tier. Tier 2 at best.

The sad thing is that this deck sometimes works, depending on the meta, just because of the incredibly overpowered removal warrior has access to. And their legendaries, and their healing. And the deal-damage-to-your-minions synergy. Other classes have to rely on smaller op cards or common-pool cards.

Seeing how badly the Wallet Warrior got Rekt, I'm even more convinced that early to midrange tempo decks are the way to go right now (Secrets Paladin, Dragon Priest, Totem Shaman, etc). Sad because I wanted my control priest to work but looks like control warrior has the same problems atm.
