Hearthstone deck of the Month: Malygos Miracle Rogue

The deck was good fun pre-GvG, just because of it's sheer explosiveness. With the nerf to Gadjetzan and the new GvG cards though I don't think the deck has a place in the current meta unfortunately. It just has too little interaction and takes too long to get going. I played around with a variant of it that uses Mana Addict and Questing Adventurer and makes use of the spare part cards to pump them. It's not great but I managed to kill People on turn 6 or 7 consistently with it. I've uploaded the decklist for you if you want to give it a go: imgur.com/d0ayAhN That might be the way to go, though it's not good in any way. But again I don't think Miracle fits into the current very well. If you want to play Rogue I think Oil Rogue is way more solid and consistent.

How come you dont run either Questing or Mana Wyrm in that deck? It would look pretty solid with Auctioneer

MrBiohumanomineralny I used a deck list I found online for this deck. I wanted a miracle version with Malygos as the main win condition. The miracle deck I built after GvG's release did include those two cards, but it performed quite poorly despite being a lot of fun. The nerf to Gadjetzan really hit hard. Many people don't seem to realise that this deck is now quite outdated :D

LephariaGaming Well,when I first heard of Miracle Rogue,it actually included both Questing + Auctioneer. And btw,I really want Legendaries like Malygos,but I'm not sure which packs should I buy,GvG or Classic,any suggestions?

Depends on what you have and what you want to do. I'd say the classic packs have more "bread and butter" cards and some really useful Epic and Legendaries, but GvG has nice cards such as mechs as well. I usually look for a deck that I want to play and then decide on how to get the cards I need for that.

Well,for now I need all the basic Legendaries like Leeroy,Sylvanas,Alexstrasza etc. But I could never figure out if these can be found in GvG packs or classic only.

Ok, I'd suggest you buy the Classic Packs then. Also, if you click on Crafting Mode in your collection and then on "all sets" you can filter cards by set and see which set a card you're looking for is in.

You need violet teacher and questing adventurer, they will provide minion advantage for you midgame

Well you can always try to budget it if you don't have the cards, as in put cheaper cards in that kind of do the same thing but are not as powerful. Example here would be questing adventurer for instance. Or you can just put in another card that might help you in different ways. From what I've seen so far Edwin is not crucial to the deck's game plan, but he's very nice to have because he helps you with early board control and can also serve as your big win condition. But just because you don't have Edwin doesn't mean you shouldn't be playing Miracle imho.

Just be aware that if you budget the deck it will inevitably become less powerful, but not necessarily unplayable.

Additional to what Lepharia says.. I've spotted quite a few people putting Shade of Nax in there. Which acts as a slower (but automated) Questing Adventurer. So you can throw it out early, and not only not have to wait until you can Gadgetzan-spam cards to power him up, but don't have to worry (too much) about him getting killed due to his stealth.... and you can always Cold Blood him later as part of your combo. I, for one, would favour spending dust on Malygos before getting VanCleef because of this.

Excactly. I'm working on a video atm, will hopefully get it up today (feeling a bit under the weather lately), where I will talk about other Miracle variants I've seen that may be a bit cheaper to craft, as well as tweaks I've made to this deck in particular. There's always room to adjust a deck to your particular playstyle and budget.

I agree that Miracle was too dominant during the Leeroy era, but I would never call this deck lame or cheap. It's explosive and I can see losing to it being very frustrating and disheartening. But balance-wise it has a million and one problems and takes a lot of game sense and judgement to play correctly overall. I guess for every deck imaginable I could find someone who rages over it. It's probably not the deck for me so we're gonna play something else next month, don't worry ;)
