There seems to be a lot you omitted... but I guess that kind of makes sense since this is such a hugely broad subject. For instance, there are actually three different Ethereal factions: Consortium Protectorate Etherium The Consortium are traders first and foremost, and the ones that players encounter the most. The Etherium are the radicals who, in their quest to stop the void, moreorless embraced it. The Protectorate's primary goal is to stop the void and stop the Etherium's madness. The Consortium generally don't directly partake in the conflict between the other two factions, but they are strong supporters of the Protectorate, and provide them a lot of indirect aid. In-game, Protectorate NPCs count as part of the Consortium faction for gameplay purposes (which makes sense, since helping the Protectorate often helps the Consortium indirectly).
