I personally disagree with the idea of making Arena Standard. To me, the point of Arena is that you can get any card from any set, and you have to make that pile of any possible thing work. Yes, there are cards in Wild that I absolutely hate, but I'd still rather see those and keep the original idea/spirit of Arena than not.

I would rather like that you play certain sets (different each run). This alleviates the problem of the large cardpool, but keeps the wild cardpool. Which is i would say essential for arena. if they increase spell drops, they need to tamper some of the drop rates. for example, no bolster or totemic might like cards. ban flame waker and mana wyrm. the problem I foresee is that spell oriented classes would have a much more distinct advantage.

I hope they make the drafting process much more involved overall. Stuff like drafting "modifiers" during the draft that makes certain qualified cards have a greater chance to occur (e.g. "increase the chance cards will appear, etc), being able to muligan a few pics at the end of the draft, and simply having a more than 3 cards at a time to choose from. If not that, something that simply will make choices matter more and be less involved than asking heartharena for what to do, which just makes it a throw of the dice who has the better deck.

I think shifting the quality of cards (particularly board clears) and tinkering with the weighting system is a much better idea than shifting arena to standard. I do like the idea of favouring spells more, as generally you won't need to choose between 3 spells regardless and thus have more agency in your draft. If they shift arena to standard they need to shift the format between it and wild regularly, as in a "every weekend" sort of deal.

one small idea for fixing the going first vs going second would be something like the minion(s) that the going second player plays in the first turn have charge but cant attack the enemy hero on that turn (unless the card itself already has charge ofcourse) so it would be like ' the first player gets to play the first minion and the second player gets to attack with his minion(s) first ''

instead of making it standard, why not do an arena that when you buy a round you need to pick a theme pack to go with the basic cards. Goblin vs gnomes, whispers of the old god, grandtournament and gadetzen. Would be a nice idea. Or like get 3 packs and pick one to open it and have those 5 cards in your deck and then go so on. I know last one isn't good but it's still an idea.

I wish they'd do a draft of 30 by having each card you pick designated for a specific rarity each time. I know they do the 1, 10, 20, and 30. But what if the first pick was a legendary and the only one you would get. Picks 5, 15, 25 are epic quality minions. 2, 10, 20, 30 rare spells. 3, 6, 9, 12, 18, 21, 24, 27 class specific cards and the rest are common slot minions/spells. I think you'd get a minion you can base your deck off of with the legendary first. The game isn't unbalanced in decks for the most part, and can create new and interesting decks each time.

I don't think people will like arena being changed to standard, but will enjoy increased opportunities for synergy. Perhaps a system that randomly selects, or lets you select a limited (but fixed) amount of cardsets can accomplish this. This will add a whole new layer to arena as it will benefit you to figure out the sets the opponent is playing. Which will also make it possible again to play around cards and not be punished for it.

@Chaotix Spark As a longtime MTG player, I would point out that Arena is far closer to drafting from a Cube than from a single expansion... Which is the preferred draft format for "fun", although it's not a competitive gamemode. I always thought Arena was supposed to be a "fun" format that relies on multifaceted skills rather than the cutthroat netdeck coinflip that Ranked has to offer. In MTG when the meta gets stale in Modern...or Legacy...or Vintage...they solve it by changing the cardpool through banning, restricting, and creating cards; and by that logic Blizzard's idea is a good one, but they have to remember that Arena isn't a gamemode played at tournaments, isn't a gamemode that gives you gold heroes, and as of now isn't even tracked or ranked. It's more like Cube. :)

What if arena were changed so that in the beginning you only draft a class, then start the drafting process after seeing your opponent (this would happen each match). I feel that doing this would levy the advantages/disadvantages of oppressively synergistic decks while reducing the odds of getting completely wrecked by a bad draft since you'd have 2 more tries. This would be to -Introduce some degree of counterplay to arena (drafting against a certain class' strengths) -Mitigate consistency/inconsistency problems (play with a new deck every match) -Increase skill-success ratio

What if one of the players finishes the draft in 2 minutes and the other takes 15, does the other person just wait in a game que forever? Can you really put a time limit on someone drafting a deck? I don't know if you're suggesting people play face decks because they don't have enough time to play a control match, but I don't see the harm to people's schedules in making each match take say 3-4 minutes longer. Make the Arena more Arena, as in make it be more about adapting to what cards you get. Have different card expansions rotate in and out randomly once every week or month with higher card finding percentages. It would be interesting to see what would happen in Arena conditions if Naxx set, Gadgetzan set and say Goblin vs Gnomes set would have much better card finding rate than other expansions for a week or two.

I'm not sure about this. I like the fact that I can get the older cards in arena. That being said I don't play standard anymore as it's just not that fun anymore thanks to the meta decks. Wild is much more enjoyable as you get interesting decks when you combine older and newer sets.

What I think is that there should be a wild and a standard arena. Additionally, the wild arena should give out wild card packs only. Seeing as we will have more sets moving into the wild format and they will be unable to be obtained, this would be a good way of players trying to get more wild cards with out crafting them with dust.

I think they could make the arena better if For each loss (win?) you get a *card replace*. You choose a card from your arena deck and you repick it from 3 new cards of the same rarity. You dont have to use it, but it can be useful if you get terrible cards in your draft. (all of it happens on the screen where you start the search for arena opponent, not in game) Could help? I dont know.

I like the Wild aspect and seeing different cards makes it feel fresh every time. The last thing I want to see is Pirate net decks in Arena. constructed is where you have fun. so you can have OP cards like 4 mana 7/7 in there. but arena is where you showcase your skill. so you should only have balanced cards that are not used in constructed for example silverback patriarch and Hemet nesingwary.

I think blizzard should create a new rarity system where rarity depends upon usage statistics. so less used cards show up more often than more used cards. so you could end up drafting more legendaries than Commons but you would have a worse deck quality overall.

well the best this is too make arena rotating every month tbh, only cards from 3 expansions are available to be drafted, maybe classic/most recent expansion/1 more expansion rptating everymonth, so the card pool is dencent enough and you can play around some cards if you want. Jack Shillerheld, the devs have proven countless times they have no clue whatsoever about the game mechanics, and they proved it again in the latest expansion. Yes, but you are 9 mana. If its stats were upscaled to your mana level, it would be a 9-15, but since it is an early game card, it is even stronger than that as the tempo it provides is insane.
