While it is good that they are fixing stuff, I still am not going to praise Blizzard for fixing what they themselves broke and basically abandoned for 4 years. This is the bare minimum first step in getting the game in a working state and to regain some good will. Even in this updated state it hasn't actually delivered all of what was originally promised for Reforged. With that being said, the UI is significantly better by re-implementing the old school BattleNet UI. The quality of life features are also a clear step up, especially with the hotkeys editor. It is also good that they are not breaking popular Custom Games content. Having worked a bit on Chronicles of the Second War this is good to hear. I also hope that the performance gets improved overall. UI performance for Reforged was atrocious, but the base game had massive performance issues as well. I hope some upgrades are done in this department. Also good that this is a free update to Reforged and not another cash grab remaster.

Heck, I am trying out the current 2.0 and while I am noticing massive differences that make it a vast improvement from before, there are still a ton of bigger and smaller issues that need to be fixed. One thing I can say very positively for now is that the performance is significantly improved with the Reforged graphics. I am now able to get 100+ FPS on my ultra-widescreen monitor, which is a massive difference from launch that ran between 30-60 FPS at best. I didn't even bother playing Reforged whatsoever because of this, so I might actually try and play the game a bit just because of that. They really need to fix the hotkeys system right now, however. Definitely an upgrade from having none before, but it has so many bugs and quality of life issues. The game needs to get continuously updated like Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition to become as good as that remaster.

Not sure if you're in contact with Blizzard anymore Grubby but there's still some big issues. 1. 3D campaign-select renders are still gone, replaced by the terrible outsourced Reforged art. 2. Old graphics are still using the Reforged "tattered parchment" background for loading screens. 3. The "Classic" portraits are not Classic. 4. Default zoom is wrong.

Having worked in a dysfunctional company, it's obvious that was the state of Blizzard for many years. In a dysfunctional company, everything is promised (by management, a lot of times), and nothing is delivered. Part of the reason nothing is delivered is because promising everything results in an unmanageable list of priorities, and developers often end up in a sort of decision paralysis. Given a leader that will say no to stupid (or just less-important) ideas so that the high-priority stuff can get done makes a huge difference. You can see this happening with tons of simple things getting done here. I hope they've turned a corner in MicroBlizzard and can start putting out quality again.

Hey, music guy here. I want to describe what the deal was with the Warcraft 2 music option. Initially, the Warcraft 2 music was playing the Adlib version. This is what you would have heard back in the 90s on a PC with a rather basic sound card. The updated version is either a recording from a more advanced sound card or perhaps even a CD music recording (not sure). Definitely sounds more "right" to most people nowadays but some folks would have remembered the initial version.

Yeah That's the big thing keeping me from playing at least custom games, and just keeping an old install from my computer for campaign and bullying cpus. My internet ain't great, it can handle warcraft, but a big, 60+ gig download takes a day, so just cycling 100 gigs between playing a game for 30 minutes just doesn't work for me.

The StarCraft Remastered had the same problem. They essentially forced everyone to download HD assets, but locked them behind paywall. So you would download around 7 GB just to play a game that had barely over 1.2 GB of data before Remaster. Oh, and you'd have to be always logged in to BNet.

I'm still angry at missmanagement, bad communication and false promises. It is too little, far too late. I am glad I took my refund with reforged. IMHO the only way to repair the reputation is to communicate clearly what Blizzard has in plan for the next 6 or 12 month and then deliver accordingly. That is something that everyone can measure and if they keep this up consistantly, maybe reputation can improve again. Until then: still no more money for me... whatever Blizzard franchise it may be...

Currently me and my friends who have not purchased reforged but own the original game are facing a problem, the client refuses to log us in with the error that we do not own a valid Warcraft III licence. This is consistent between all my friends who do not have reforged purchased, and the friends that do have reforged can run the game just fine. This is very disappointing. Also, reportedly there are some server issues on the EU server.

They are the same models and textures. What's different is only that they are not downscaled like in classic, and they use the reforged lighting (which is worse, because everything is super bright at day and too dark at night), and reforged SFX (I'm guessing this was not intentional and was an oversight that they might fix?). Oh, and on classic HD you are forced to hear reforged sound, which is functionally worse than classic because of the multiple death sounds. So, for now, classic SD (the original) seems better.

It was a real problem, and I can concur having been there at WoL's beta and launch. Was the root cause that killed the game? No, but it was one of several contributing factors, made even worse by the game's terrible on-boarding process. Even more so considering programs like Discord either didn't exist or weren't in common usage yet, so SC2 players didn't have easy communal places to talk outside of their own friend groups.

The skins are so underrated. Ive always wanted to play with "Evil" Illidan instead of the simpler Demon Hunter ever since I was younger. And the ability to play with Grommash and Thrall is so amazing, something I'd never imagined before. I would also suggest the ability to play as Malfurion in classic graphics instead of Keeper of the Grove, and also different coloured hair paladins for human.

Remember your comment, because it will come to haunt you later. Have you played Heroes of the Storm? Do you remember thinking "Hey, I can kill this hero, he's Whoever", but then you got butchered because it was Zeratul in one of his 26 skins and you haven't seen this one. I'm affraid of skins. Wow! I'm... disappointed, as usual. From my point, no real improvement and new issues : ■ My gaming PC, which nevertheless manages to perfectly run Starcraft 2 (whose graphics are 1000 times superior to those of Warcraft 3 reforged), even with all video settings at max, still has all the trouble in the world running this Reforged crap ; the game is still as unstable as a bat rider concoction, it still crashes systematically ; loadings are still endless... even when the video settings are at minimum dammit!!! ■ Some bugs that had previously been fixed are back, such as the issue of waterfalls, whose color doesn't match that of water in general. ■ The world editor, far from having been improved, seems even messier than before ; now, for some reason, the graphics on my custom Reforged maps are stuck in Classic mode, no matter how much I try to change that in the preferences. I got an old Reforged version trough "means" and i've had 0 issues. Not with performance nor with crashes. Even my old beat up HDD loads up in seconds. If an OLD version is perfectly playable, idk how you could have issues with newer ones.

The bad thing is you still have to download a huge size of files to play still with the old graphics because noone uses the reforged graphs. They should release a client that doesn't include reforged graphs.

Classis graphics vs Reforged graphics is not a matter of taste. If it was a matter of taste, then some people would prefer the later while other people would prefer the former. Since nobody prefers the reforged graphics, you can safely say they are just bad.

Yeah, reforged graphics looks modern and nice. I think those hardcore warcraft players still cannot detach their old style graphics to the point it actullay affects their performance. They are too attached to the old graphics.

The HUD size adjustment would have been good if it provided for separate sizing of AT LEAST the minimap, but brilliant if it offered separate options for also the item inventory menu, and letting you space the segments where you want them. Since I've played Beyond All Reason, a community-developed game developed by volunteers, I have been set on the path of judging poorly customizable user interfaces in other RTS games, ones that cost money to buy, VERY HARSHLY.

I'm very excited for these changes, and I'm also very excited for Grubby and future Grubby content. I hope that this renewed attention to WC3 brings even more viewers and subscribers. Grubby wears his love of this game on his sleeve. It's obvious when he talks excitedly about the game in videos like this, but it's also obvious when he has discussed the failings of Reforged in past videos. You can't be disappointed by something you don't care about. Hoping for and wishing for the best - for this game and for the creators that bring us together

Bro, the fix was simple but you're right, blizzard became a leviathan that moves very slowly and it is painful to watch, the community has told them many times what to do to repair their games, and they take soooo freaking long to adopt the changes. I'm excited to play Warcaft 3 now. I've completely ignored reforged, and I LOVED WC 3 for the longest time before that. I'm happy to see they're fixing it. Huge W.

Grubby you just unlocked a teenage memory of mine. When you played WC2 with the CD in the CD-rom drive, then the game played the full CD-audio of the WC2 music. If you play it without the CD, then it would play the MIDI version that you heard initially." I remember the WC2 demo on floppy disks that were shared between friends. Very cool to get new changes! Grubby, since they listen to you, maybe you can be an advocate for the multiplayer scene. One thing that would make multiplayer 10x better would be resource sharing when an ally leaves, just like they did for sc2 when a player leaves -- as this is an often occurrence where your ally leaves with 2k gold and then mines another 3k before the game is over. This quality of life change would be AMAZING!
