at 33:30 Ive been discussing with others and everyone would of played it how trump did it but my first impression was completely different. I would of checked for vaporize with the flame imp first, which next obvious play would be stormwind champ if it was. Now, since everyone played around mirror, i STILL would of checked with flame, then play stormwind knight, use stormwind with power to kill twilight drake, use azure to bring 2/5 enemy stormwind to 2-1 azure is 4-2 That would of left the board with 4-2 azure, 3-2 imp which still, flamestrike range but trumps decision was still flamestrike range. Is this a wrong way to think?

+Angelzdawn You've probably already found out by now, but the reason for that is because of the Azure Drake. The Azure Drake boosts spell damage by 1 and Shadowflame is a spell, so it boosted its damage up to 4.

Why does Trump not like Succubus? Coin+succubus is a really powerful turn 1 play and it's still an excellent 2-drop. It gets amazing board pressure in the early game.

I just realized something in the draft, if you cast shadowflame on an cobra, does the cobra's effect trigger on all the damaged minions? the card text on shadowflame is a bit ambiguous as to whether the minion is dealing the damage, or the spell is.

No, the minion is not attacking anything, the spell is

No again, the minion isn't actually attacking anything. The card text states "deal it's damage to adjacent minions" so it's the spell doing the damage

You can even see that Shadowflame is affected by Spell Damage, so the spell deals the damage and not the minion. Same goes for Betrayal and Blade Flurry.

Just a general discussion question: Which would be better, a deck that could choose 3 Hero abilities and be able to play all of them at any time (you would probably go for Mage/Priest/Paladin, or maybe a Warlock), but could only play neutral cards, or a deck that could use cards from any class, but had no hero ability (imagine Summoning Portal with Starving Buzzard, or Innervate and Sorcerer's Apprentice in Miracle Rogue)?

Both would be completely imbalanced because the game is not designed that way. The 3 hero powers/neutral cards would be very consistent and the "use everything" deck would likely have some seriously OP combos but wouldn't be able to get them off all the time and thus be spikier.

I feel paladin and mage are much easier. lots of class power cards that are easy to pick and weaker ones that are easy to avoid.

i think he did before ^-^ but you can also check trumps arena tier list about what cards have the most value! (www.liquidhearth.com/guides/arena-tier-list) but apart from that just make sure you have a good mana curve and you get plenty of value and you'll be fine :3

+bruce redfern Succubus is terrible. For only one more damage point, it costs an extra card - and will still be killed by most worthwhile (draftable) 2-drops - leaving you without that board presence, and an extra card down (2, if you wasted the Coin on that POS).

How the fuck does Trump keep on racking up these win rates? I drafted a good Hunter deck recently, even had two Savannah Highmanes in it. One Starving Buzzard, two Unleash the Hounds, one Houndmaster which did wonders for my Savannah Highmanes and Starving Buzzards. Good overall value minions and a nice curve, even some removal in it. I went 4:3. What am I doing wrong? I am trading where necessary, I am not flooding the board against a Hunter who might have Unleash the Hounds or a Mage who can Flamestrike. If I do I do with minions that have 5 or more health. Am I just unlucky? Hearthstone is based way too much on top decking, on both parties. It's like the whole game is 50% luck of the draw. No matter how good your deck is you will lose eventually.

Keep in mind that yes there is a lot of luck in arena and even amazing decks can get denied the wins it deserves, but if you are consistently getting low scores then it's certainly not bad luck but how you play. It's unlikely the answer is so generic that I or Trump can give you a good one. A good player would have to watch your draft and play to see where your mistakes are coming from.

GrandvisionStudio Well, I'm not Trump, but I've gotten a few 12 win runs and have an average of almost 7. Like any decent strategy game, you can always go deeper with prediction and estimation/calculation despite what some people say. Consistently making better plays *will* increase your average win rate over time - the law of large numbers. Similar to the concept of "pot odds" in Poker. You should often be more concerned with leaving your board difficult for your opponent to deal with than making the numbers match up neatly when trading. If you can spare the attention to watch their cards as they play and constantly estimate what *kind* of card they likely don't / do have based on their choices (think: "what kind of hand would *I* probably have if *I* were to make his play"), you tip the probabilities in your favor. Don't just play against the *one* archetypical card of each class, play with *every* removal card the opponent's class has available in mind. If it's too daunting, you can work your way towards this by noticing that, for example, Shaman deals a lot of 3 damage to single targets, but very little 1 or 2.
