Actually, I heard that the book "Witches among us" is more for the practicioners family and friends to understand what witchcraft is. From the interview with Ivy the occultist, she said that there are just books about how to be a witch, and not so much about what witchcraft means to a person, for a person who doesn't practice. I think it will be a good read for anyone though and will be getting it myself!!

Thank you for this video - I am excited for several of these. As someone who feels a kinship with the goddess Brigid, & used to live in New Orleans, I am especially looking forward to the one on Maman Brigette, her voodoo loa incarnation. I now have a few new titles to include on my Yule Wish List.

That's funny. I just decided to go through all of my Witchy and Magick books again too. However I don't have nearly as many, but I'm realizing that about a 1/3rd of them are 20+ years old and are just to basic to be much help to me anymore. I'm going to see if my magick community wants any of them for their library. :)

I haven’t watched yet as I’ve not the time. But, this series is my favourite and is guaranteed to be pleasing, however you approach the episode.

Thanks! I might try Whispers from the Coven because Chris Allaun's Black Book of Johnathan Knotbristle was such a fun and interesting read. I have read and enjoyed some of Patricia Telesco's books in the past but I will pass on these only because my "to be read" list runneth over. 😉

I too was interested in the book on Cerridwen but also had the same thought when you introduced it - how will it compare with Kristopher Hughes’ book? However, every author brings their own unique lens so I may pick it up! Thank you for these monthly videos! I really enjoy them.😊

I attended a virtual lecture by Thorn Mooney to promote her book put on by Religion for Breakfast. I'm actually a very beginner myself and I still found it way too basic (the lecture). It (the lecture at least) seemed to be aimed at academics who have very little understanding of real and modern witchcraft. I think if someone was at the very first inkling of looking into witchcraft it would be very helpful. Or, if you are not comfortable critically analyzing books and articles then absolutely, let a professional do it for you and get a good foundation that's relatively free from bias (nothing is totally free from it, we are humans after all). Unfortunately after that I don't plan to get the book, despite the fact I think it's awesome that she's a practicing witch in academia and providing scholarly works on the subject. Hope to see more in-depth offerings from her in the future. Super interested in the Hungarian and Alpine traditions books! I love to compare traditions to find synergies. I also want to say, that as a beginner, or maybe as a person who's read fairy and folk tales since I was a child and never stopped, some children's books on witchcraft have been the most illuminating for me. It's not super-super new, but I thought "Children of the Wood: A Child's Book of Folk Magic" was so lovely and gentle and absolutely got to the heart of things in a way that many of the books I've read thus far aimed at grown-ups just haven't.

I've just picked up the House Witch and the Green Witch. I'm on on the 1st chapter of the House Witch but I will say that I was a bit taken aback by a couple of references to "God" with a big G. To me, that comes across as Abrahamic, which idk if this author is, but I wasn't expecting it and it's a bit off putting to ME. I'm going to continue the book to see, mainly bc these books are EVERYWHERE, and they are very pretty. They do seem very beginner however. Shall see I guess. Also, this quicker format is nice, I particularly like that the book review is seperate from the astrology, just bc astrology doesn't interest me. But I do also like the hour long videos, I watch them while I get ready.

I don't know if you are in to comics, but there's this book from Alan and Steve Moore [not related] The Moon and Serpent Bumper Book of Magic, launched last October on the 16th that seems to be pretty interesting, I'd love to know your opinion

I'm at the point where I am not wanting to do witchcraft because I keep having demonic nightmares. I'm Wicca and I never conjure spirits, I do basic stuff. Every night I get malevolent spirits and energy, sleep paralysis. I don't know what to do. I try to protect my self.
@AuntieExtrasCrafts18 сағат бұрын
Hello. What I will say and everyone is different, is that for myself my nightmares were related to a mental health diagnosis that was debilitating until I got help. And even though I didn't realize it looking back as a kid I always did things interacting with the natural world The idea of putting structure around it stresses me out cuz I was raised very orthodox but hopefully if there's grounding in your environment or things that bring you joy to have more of that during the day and then I guess right down whatever it is you remember seeing because I've had nightmares I've had night terrors I've had waking up when I can't move forgetting where I am so I completely sympathize. But I think if it's a matter of magnetizing the energy you want to manifest than having more positive things around you might help.
