One time me and a friend of mine were celebrating a sabbath. And when we started organizing things, some friends of my sisters started to arrive. We didnt know they would come. When they saw what we were doing they gave us weird looks. And after a long time i was in a party and everyone started giving me really weird looks and my sister told me they tought i was doing a satanic ritual... Like... why they just didnt asked me? Alot of people who go into abandoned buildings and find "paraphernalia" of supposed ritual practice, They immediately jump to 100 in order to fish in a shock factor themselves. Why do I think this is? Ignorance mixed with publicity gain. Obviously personally I do share this hobby. However, I do know that educating yourself is so important when it comes to having any practice that is related to anything pursuing the unknown. 98% of the time if you do encounter legitimate remnants of ritual work, A haunting or spiritual presence of any kind has nothing to do with what you found on the floor etc.

Besides, I've never hexed someone so idk all the details, but I'm pretty sure you can only hex people who've done you wrong without consiquences, witchcraft is mostly about intent, if you have negative intentions towards someone who's done nothing to you, it will reflect onto you, why would you want that? Some Amish people still use the pentagram as a protective symbol for their barns. They will use pentagrams and sometimes other ‘hex signs.’ Traditions brought about from their German heritage refuting the notion that it is inherently a ‘Satanic symbol’ yet apparently people still called those barns ‘Satanic/Devil Barns’ which is just as hilarious as it is confounding to me.

That's something I love about Kindred Spirits and Ghost Nation. Kindred Spirits actually have an actual witch come and help them out with certain cases and Ghost Nation has cleared up misunderstandings with home owners about witches and Santeria and explain to them why it's unlikely. They actually look into the things found that people assume are the reason why there is a haunting and from a witch. And one was actually found to be more likely left there by a nun that used to live in the house.

Not necessarily about witchcraft, but definitely a weird piece of appropriation and misinterpretation that took place on the ghost hunting show Paranormal State. While conducting an episode involving paranormal activity said to take place at the university all the members of the investigative team attended, they somehow got the idea to hold a Hyakumonogatari Kaidankai (literally means "A gathering of one-hundred supernatural tales," sometimes called a "100 ghost story night"), without knowing anything but the idea that you have 100 candles, and blow one out with each story told, until the last one is extinguished to summon spirits. This is a huge misapprehension of the concept, and a dramatic underselling of how much ritual is involved, including the precautions and protections needed. It's always weird how ghost hunting shows will happily use whatever mysticism or borrow from whatever faith in the moment, but are just as quick to denounce them as negative if they can spin it as the source of the haunting.

So... In my country it's typical to build bonfires for the celebration of Midsummer. It's an acknowledged summer celebration. With fires and stuff. And yes, the traditions include a plethora of spells for glimpsing the character of your future spouse, or for good fortune in general, all such things. My favorite of the little spells you can do (even though I'm not particularly interested in finding a spouse, but anyway) is to gather seven different kinds of wildflower into a small bouquet in the night of Midsummer, and then put the bouquet under your pillow before sleeping on it. You're supposed to see your future spouse in your dream. A lot of love spells related to Midsummer's :'D Oh yeah, and Easter has the tradition of decorating cut branches of willow with colored feathers and crepe paper and stuff, and then children dress up as "Easter witches", and go around family members giving them a "bathing" and a little chant with the decorated branch, to receive chocolate eggs in return :D The "bathing" and chanting is supposed to be a charm for good luck and happiness. Also! Bridal saunas! Those are a tradition where you might even hire a soothsayer to give the bride these different spells and charms! (I've actually kept a bridal sauna for my friend once, it wasn't hard to look up a variety of different traditional spells, it was a great deal of fun!) These types of celebrations are completely normal here. Most families do them, they're on TV, on kids' shows, etc. So I kinda find it funny how these people would think a "Sabbath fire" or spells and charms are spooky xD Since, the stuff mentioned above? People don't even count themselves witches, while still performing all these things! This is what every Joe and Martha does in my country 😂

My 'favorite' worst thing was in one of my favorites. They saw one of those so common dark patches in a 120 year old basement. It was sort of an oblong shape. Clearly, it was where a body had been, and the 'stains of this murder's evil' kept showing up no matter how hard the owners tried to clean it! But 1. that's not how body fluids work, even in horrific murder scenes, 2. that basement floor was rock fitted together, not concrete, and 3. it wasn't clean by any stretch of the imagination. lol. I absolutely love ghost shows. I have the same issue, and it makes me grumbly, but I still love them. Heh. Thank you for the video. I very much enjoyed it.

Hi and we'll said. I am a Wiccan Witch and a paranormal investigator so come across these misconceptions quite often. A lot of these are from the fear King James I had of witches and the church wanting everybody in England to convert to Christianity hence witchcraft was demonised and made illegal. I live in a town in North Essex namely Manningtree, a big part of the trials were around this area as Matthew Hopkins lived here and many of the witches from that era would flee into Furze Hill Woods to his from him. I frequently visit the woods and always say hello to the spirits of our brothers and sisters that still reside there.

my grandmother is catholic and is ignorant to witchcraft and practices, and mostly all of my mom's family are. i am an open witch, i have no problem saying i am a witch and showing it with pride, but i still keep things on a downlow with both sides of my family to a certain degree. i would wear my crystals, i would wear my charms and clothing with certain symbols on and patterns, and no one would think otherwise unless i say about it. when i was a teen, i was in a goth phase and my grandma confused goth and "cultist" practice to be the same thing. and i would try to tell her that it isn't and she said that she is older than me for there she knows more than me. ignorance is everywhere in everyone, especially when it comes to something people don't understand or do proper research about it. witchcraft is no different. i enjoy watching ghost hunting and paranormal tv shows and stuff that will depict things about witches, and i try not to get offended and take it as comedy and entertainment as i should. but when you dealing with someone like a friend or family who believe that stuff is true and real it really is hard to take it as a joke with a grain of salt when the person you are with starts raving about it like it was "the word of god" itself. -_-

Ghost Adventures and an old show from the early 2000s called Paranormal State are 2 shows in the US that focused very hard on proving ghost and haunting activity occurred because of demonic rituals and witchcraft. Both shows are run by staunch Christians and they both have episodes entirely based on visiting popular witch themed sites and expressing how all their paranormal encounters are demonic in nature, summoned by vengeful witches. Ghost Adventures in particular does the KZbin thing where they find something or have an experience and then state in a 'spooky' narrative voice 'could this be the work of black magic set upon the land by vengeful witches bent on collecting damned souls for their hellish demon king?' Like NO, THAT'S NOT WHAT IT IS AND THATS NOW WHAT WITCHES ARE DOING THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Or they assume that even if the witches they encounter today are 'nice' and 'good' witches from the past were always evil and it's an agreed upon assumption that they were all evil and demonic. Those are the episodes that my mom laughs at me the most because they make me angry and she thinks it's funny that I get worked up about it. If they talked about evil, vengeful Christians who called upon their dark Lord Jesus to curse the family to death, mom wouldn't be laughing so much.

'Ghosts' are people too and deserve the same amount of courtesy and respect you would give the 'solids' (ie : the living who still inhabit their physical bodies) these are just people like you and I who for whatever reason find themselves trapped between dimensions and can't move on. most of them are not 'evil' just lost and confused. If you go to a 'haunted' place and are basically just there to clout chase or self promote your channel and brand then you are just part of their problem. 'give me a sign' these 'investigators' say then, when they get a response by whatever means via EVPs or stuff getting moved about or whatever they freak out in an over dramatic fashion which is just trolling and exploitation of the grief of the truly afflicted and the suffering. unless you are there to help or offer assistance, then just don't be there. It is not an 'OUR' (the occult/esoteric/spiritualist/witchcraft community whatever you choose to call us) problem it is THEIRS. We did not create this. We are not responsible for YOUR actions and interactions on site. They stirred the pot not us. quit blaming our community for all the @#* ups YOU created 'Most haunted' and 'Ghost adventures' etc. We don't need the 'proof' you seek because we already have the knowledge and acceptance you so desperately desire. I think I've only seen ONE representation of Witchcraft in something accurate to actual witchcraft and getting rid of the bad energy- without using Christianity. The most offensive 'witchcraft caused the haunting' I've seen was an episode of The Haunting where a wiccan who was depicted as evil -and also apparently was incompetent and accidentally summoned 'demons'. Then she prayed to Jesus and converted to Christianity at the end and the show depicted everything was as well and good cause Jesus. Ugh.. I thought it was crappy even when I wasn't into witchcraft. Then I got into wicca and witchcraft and saw it again and was more irritated the second time around.

While it is very offensive to have the Christisnity solves problems the Craft creates....one must piont out that in the Western world, perhaps the most powerful exorcists remain the priests specialized from the Holy See, That its rarely understood its predicated upon the Practice and Faith of these, should however not be lost to one,either...

I love your video. Common sense, factual accurate historical information, and a little witty sarcasm. So many shows wether it be here in the states or across the pond focus on complete bullshit. The church has twisted the ancient ways into something so far from the truth it's ridiculous. I've been seeing more and more people turning against institutionalized christianity. Not against Jesus, but the dogmatic doctrine of the church. Thank you girl, loved it.

Before I learned more about witchcraft i was really scared. I used to live in CT in the US and there were actually people there sacrificing vergins. And I also saw some video on KZbin about some priest in Englands kids it was a video of them talking to the police. They told the police about how their father and mother and other members of( I guess it was their church or something) would molest them them and the babies and chop of the babies heads and sometimes even eat them. This video of these poor little kids talking to the police about this evil stuff. Disturbed me so much I didn't sleep for months. Im not sure if they said they worship Satan or if they mentioned anything about witchcraft or any religion or beliefs. All I know is it scared the shit out of me. Also the sacrifices in CT but those I guess were done by witches that are evil. Im not saying witchcraft is evil though I used to believe that because of what I was taught and also growing up Roman Catholic. However I started questioning things about a year or 2 ago. And I dont get how catholics and Christians can act like they are so good and innocent when they tried to kill all the Pagans and the stories of catholic priests molesting children all while the preach about not sinning. That makes me angry and confused. How can anyone claim to by good and innocent when they have a history of doing bad and evil?! I always had a fascination with spirituality, witchcraft, and the occult since I was little. But I was told it was evil and a sin. That something as insignificant as tarot cards were considered evil. It just doesn't make sense to me. I couldn't help myself I always loved witchy like things. So I been doing my research and I. Happy to find out that its not scary and evil. I think there is just good and evil in every practice, religion, race, culture. If someone believes its ok to do evil things ( or what I consider to be evil i guess) and actually does them then thats when I have a problem. But to just say someone or a group of people is evil just because they dont believe in the same things as you do and they arent doing evil and they dont think its ok to do evil then I dont see why its an issue and I think its wrong to just say a person is evil just because they have a difference in beliefs. Anyways Harth i love your videos thank you with helping me on my baby witch Journey. Blessed be :)😃

i think it's board pple that have nothing to do that like to paint that may be in the occult but yet want to put it on the witches so they'll have someone to blame themselves if they get caught up in their own artwork. I've seen guys in my area where i once lived years ago would do this and spray them upside down, on the church's windows, in the end, they had to pay for it and get up in front of the church's congregation and tell them why they did it and apologize. The reason they were mad and did this was that they were told they couldn't go into the church and use their restroom when they were closing it up after a big ceremony.

Large burn marks in abandoned buildings are most likely from people building fires to stay warm when they have nowhere else to go, OR dumb kids staying there overnight on a dare and building campfires. Most other people wouldn't risk it.

Here’s a question for a real witch or spiritualist. What actually causes a spirit to apparate or “haunt” a location? Also what ghost hunting show is closest to getting it right?
@alyssakumer31793 жыл бұрын
There are many reasons that spirits haunt locations. Some do not know they are dead usually because they had a very abrupt death. Some are stuck because they don't know how to move on, or they feel like they have unfinished business. Some just don't care to move on. Then, arguably, spirits are all around us all the time anyway. Human and non-human. As well, these shows often mistake poltergeist activity as an angry spirit. More often than not, it is just one trying to get their attention. Poltergeists are usually psychic people(kids especially) that have strong psychic energy they don't have under control. Typically led by emotions. There can be a lot more to it than just these reasons, too. As for the shows, Ghost Hunters is all right! Still kinda iffy on that one, but much better to me than Ghost Adventures. Also, not exactly a ghost hunting show, but The Dead Files is cool too.

I wouldn’t even call myself a witch at all. I’ve just been super interested in it and have been reading books on it. I’ve been using herbs and cleansing my spaces and etc. My girlfriends mother is catholic. She was nervous because I lit Palo Santo and assumed I was working with demons and assumed I was using a ouija board. She even asked me if I would come see her priest and have a exorcism done to me.. I get upset because she won’t believe me when I say I’m not a satanist or even try to understand why I am doing what I’m doing. Instead she believes I should live by her religion and is not open minded to my practices.

There is only one instance of paranormal activity I've ever seen in a show (i forgot what the show is called) that may actually could be blamed in a witch, and the only reason i think that is because they discovered an actual spell jar on their investigation (although they also could've placed it there, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
@TheBilayer3 жыл бұрын
they add witches and demon to amp up the effect I totally agree on this point.
@katyalumi3 жыл бұрын
why do they blame us as a collective for ghosts and spirit activity? for one, spirits and ghosts are normally interacted with by hedge witches and necromancers. even then, they aren’t the reason for spiritual activity in a space.

Fantastic video, as always. Thank you, Hearth! Just had a question (off topic) about Fae. One of the groups I'm in had a Fae question and I directed them to your video from Sept about Fae Misconceptions. I gave the vid a rewatch myself and noticed you mentioned at the end of it about maybe doing a series on working with the Fae. Was wondering if that's still in the works? Thanks so much for all of your videos! Great source of info about everything!

I feel the exact same way - you absolutely touched on everything that needed clarification and debunking, which people really should know! But yup I still love paranormal investigation shows! :D I do like ones where they're serious about collecting evidence and being scientific about it, rather than sensationalizing and giving the viewers jump scares - not that those aren't entertaining for different reasons! :D Honestly Ghost Hunters (TAPS) is the best one. I rewatched most of it recently and there's very little "that's a pagan cult symbol" anywhere in it, and if so they mostly take that stuff as heresay and not evidence. I also really enjoy psychic-based ghost investigation, but yeah, same problems often arise. Hopefully this reaches some people that are interested in paranormal investigation but don't realize witchcraft does not equal Satanism etc!
@Mokiefraggle3 жыл бұрын
Ghost Hunters is good, if only because they're focused on a more physical sort of evidence. They're looking for things that can be detected with technology, not just "Oh, hey, heard there were witches and they summoned demons here!" stuff. Though I have found that they swing incredibly on when they do or don't decide something is a paranormal sign. One episode, catching tons of orbs on video is a sign of potential paranormal activity, the next it's "Eh, that's just bugs." Make up your mind, y'all. :P

Agree, however, we know more than many that there are definitely witches and shape shifters that are DEFINITELY malevolent. Just because we knew better, doesn't mean everybody else did. It irks me when they blame witches as a knee jerk reaction, but sometimes there is ample evidence to point towards certain cultural concepts such as necromancers, the baba yaga, skinwalkers, etc. For the most part, they saw some spoopy symbols and saw Blair Witch that one time lol
