Austin, Mike Nelson from CA. Hey bud thanks for taking the time to make and post videos such as this. It’s rare that I would get the chance to attend or even know about such events and the next best thing would be to watch your video and experience it that way. I’ve subscribed to your channel and have watched many of your videos in efforts to learn more and to have the ability to restore my Fiero and upgrade it as time and money will allow. I’m am trapped by the restraints of the CA smog nazi’s, and also set back at times by my youngest son, who I love more than anything in this world but unfortunately the kid loves tools more than I do, and hasn’t yet learned the importance of staying organized or that tools belong inside the tool box and not everywhere else, and I do mean everywhere! I’ve found them over the back fence, on the roof, at the bottom of the pool, in the bushes, the couch, under the bed, you name it. The only place really I’ve yet to find them is probably the silverware drawer or the dishwasher, and now that I’ve said that I might just place some there myself to rattle my wifes chain since this stuff doesn’t seem to bother her and my 3 yr old will take the wrap for it anyway (she’ll never see this :0 ) Besides, I know the dishwasher can clean a keyboard like no other, spilled soda to bentonite clay powder for making model rocket motors, but tools ?? Hmmm Surely not the best idea with oil, grease, rust, etc but I will be having a serious talk with my solvent tank if it wants to remain a part of this family Hahaha. And leave it to me to make my first impression with you as some type of madman, but you know being a combat veteran USMC 02-06 Iraq in 03 as an 0811 Field Artillery, having 5 kids and a wife like mine all packed in a tiny rented house, and living in CA, I think it’s kinda to be expected or at least self explanatory. But the crazier I get the stronger my morales become, so fear not as I tend to be an extremely loyal and honest friend to have, although I will say that this has no effect on my driving habits when I’m on an empty road or parking lot somewhere and no one is watching, but in my defense I’ll say that knowing what my vehicles can or can’t do, and how fast they can go vs how fast they can stop has only made me a better driver, and the safety of myself, as well as and if not more, the people around me (yes total strangers), is always my top priority. Unless your a terrorist, then those rules go out the window and the probability of the terrorist actually going out the window somehow greatly increases as well! Alright well I better go Austin, I think KZbin might be trying to reach me regarding some award for leaving my reply, introduction, and auto biography, all within the same comment! I think it was KZbin ? IDK, might have been Darwin? Lol! All laughs are free of charge, and you can’t say I never gave you anything. If by chance the bandwidth police contact you looking for me, please tell them you only know me by the name “The Gingerbread Man”! And that I said they’ll never catch me. If your villain laugh is as good as mine, give em that too. The “good game” thing is optional, as I’m not affiliated with that, but won’t discriminate either. Take care and stay frosty.
@FieroAustin Жыл бұрын
i let out so many loud laughs man. Thanks for the story. You take home the best comment award I've ever had. I hope the police don't catch up with you... stay in touch my friend

The last time I went to a Fiero show was in San Antonio. Probably maybe 15 years ago. I’d love to make it to one again. Last I went I had a horrid exhaust on my V8 Fiero and hadn’t done the coil over conversion and lowered it a bit. I just need some new paint on the front bumper and she’d be presentable. I’ve got a night driving video on my channel if you want to take a look. Use good headphones or speakers, the bass from the V8 really kicks.

These engines (2.8L) don't last because of the stock aluminum oil pump. I beat on my 2.8L for years at 120mph and off the rev limiter and it hasn't failed yet. The plan is for an engine swap but unsure of the engine yet. I have an LS4 on the engine stand.
@FieroAustin2 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the 3800 engine that doesn't last? LS4 would be awesome. Looks big in there though
@cajunroadwarrior2 жыл бұрын
@@FieroAustin the 3.8L has been a very reliable engine. People have complained about the 2.8L. GM screwed that engine with a cheap oil pump that wears out and doesn't supply enough flow for an engine that doesn't have primary main oiling.

on the LS4 have you figured how to do the engine management yet? Great idea...
@cajunroadwarrior Жыл бұрын
@w41duvernay I haven't worked out the engine management yet. I'm still weighing my engine options. I know GM has the 3.9L. Those engines were offered with a forged crankshaft and can make a lot of hp with cheap turbo kit. HP tuners may have software to tune the factory ECU for both the LS4 and various 3.9L engines. The advantage 9f the 3.9L is that it's an almost direct bolt-in replacement for the 2.8L. There would be considerable weight savings compared to the LS4 and maintenance would be easier with the extra clearance around the engine bay. The 3.9L was also available with the manual F40 6 speed transmission.
