The real success of Heartland was and still is the Amy and Ty love story. The dating in the season 18 trailer and the current episodes especially Amy's relationship with Nathan is simply the writers attempt to keep the storyline interesting, and not boring. I believe if Ty comes back to the show Heartland will continue with Ty, Amy and Lindy together again. If he doesn't return the writers will conclude the series with Amy unable to accept another(not just because Ty can't be replaced} because of her continuing strong love and feelings for Ty. She will conclude that her peace and happiness is with her as a single mother raising Lindy in the manner Ty would have wanted. In my opinion, because we had 14 years of this remarkable love story, whereby the viewers got to intimately know Ty, it makes it nearly impossible to erase him from the viewers minds and on a larger scale future Heartland seasons. It's a testament toTy's impact on the series, in that he still remains the topic of much fan discussion and love even though he has been missing for over 4 years.

Ty can't return, they killed him. Unless they are gonna change the past or inject an identical twin that no one new about. Or make the actor a complete difference character.

And Nathan is so boring every time I see him I just wanna fall asleep where is Ty was outgoing and wonderful. He needs to come back to the show. If you can’t bring Ty bag, our family will quit watching heartland altogether, and Harland will go down as a defeat.

No, he’s gentle & kind, interesting- Amy enjoys Nathan company, they both have suffered great loss of a spouse, and in recovery mode-Nathan ex wife cheated on him with his best friend, so betrayal and hurt by two people he trusted- of course Amy losing Ty the longtime love of her life since 15 y/o, and she’s trying to move on- I can see a shift in Amy, a sign she can be happy without Ty in her life, and this natural attraction slowly evolving with Nathan, they completes each other- daughter Lindy seem to like Nathan and especially dog Molly 🐶 😊
