I'm glad I found the video as the instructions omit the batting on the first section, but adds it on the hearts!!! Also the fabric wastage, the dimensions could easily be smaller. Thanks

Normally there is a 1/2" waste allowance on all sizes for each fabric, that isn't excessive. You have to remember that the instructions are written so that people of all abilities can make something easily and sucessfully, sure you can reduce on the fabric if you wish to but many people really struggle when the fabrics are very tight as it doesnt give them any room for error. If there is an error in the instructions I invite you to contact Kreative Kiwi Embroidery and let them know so that it can be corrected and you can also give your feedback too if you wish. The email address is given in the instructions. Thanks for watching and Happy New Year.

I made the Koru placemat which is made in almost the same way as this lovely one. I was a bit scared when it came to joining the pieces but I need not have worried, it did indeed, fit like a jigsaw. After joining a couple of the hearts I felt confident enough to place the piece to join and just hold it, stopping occasionally to make sure it was OK but your hint about running the zig zag stitch first before joining is a brilliant idea. This is a very pretty design. Thankyou.

Awesome SAL, Kay! I love your placemat stitched with one fabric and thread color. Sew elegant. As I watched the video I wondered since you chose one fabric and thread if after the placement stitches, just add one piece of fabric front and back for the heart and spoke? If so, it would save a bit of time and perhaps fabric. I hope I'm making sense. :-) Thank you once again for a wonderful SAL, and the tips. You're a jewel! Angel Huggers!!!

Hi Mary thank you and you're welcome. Yes absolutely you would save a lot of time using just one piece of fabric and normally I would but for the purposes of this vid and for those wanting to use different coloured fabrics I wanted to show every step.

@@KaysCutz You did a fabulous step-by-step and I appreciate all the time you give to explain all steps. I have not yet tried this beauty, but purchased it a year ago almost to the date! Yikes, I'm behind! LOL

Very good instructions. I had looked at this design online to purchase and could not figure out how it would come together-so I was a little hesitant to purchase. Thank you for taking the time to make this video to help us to see how the project is completed. I do have a question though-What is scuba fabric?

Hard to see what you are doing.

Hi Virginia, what is making it hard to see for you? Are you finding it difficult because it is not close up enough or because the repetitive bits are too fast, the choice of fabric and thread isn't contrasting enough. What device are you watching it on? Have you watched it on a PC on full screen mode? What can I do to make the viewing experience better for you in future? Thanks for your feedback.
