Could we have a tutorial about the Division Designer? I would really love to learn more about the benefits of mixed brigades and specialized brigades (e.g. all armour). Also in the World War Wednesday videos, we also saw that you can attach artillery both as support and as a regular battalion, what are the benefits there?
@morat2428 жыл бұрын
Support artillery provides much smaller bonuses, but it doesn't impede mobility, even paradropping, and it's cheaper. So your paratroop units need support artillery, because they can't drop with the regular kind. But your infantry divisions probably want the regular kind, because A) there are only 5 support slots and B) you can take several regular artillery battalions but only one support artillery unit. Mountain troops might also want support arty. Same if you have mobile divisions but you haven't built self-propelled artillery yet.
@Taihouchan8 жыл бұрын
and to add to morat's answer, the support battalion costs less

It's a great tutorial but the strategy makes me laugh. "In this example we'll defend some of our newly acquired coastline" Ah yes, from the lesser known Polar Bear Invasion Event when you build too many nuclear reactors.

Never played a Hearts of Iron game before but the Battle Plan stuff looks amazing, a great step up from units running around each other willy nilly in similar games of the genre. Actual lines of battle stretched across theatres of war, it's morbidly beautiful.

I was really impressed by this. Only got the game yesterday so I've just played about 3 hours, but I love how this works. You can give an army a certain order to go here and there, when the fighting is going on then you can still micro the units to deal with enemy troops to your liking, but it won't override the battle plan, your own troops still continue to move after the fighting is done. Yeah, really love how this works, awesome job. I'm just watching some tutorials AFTERWARDS to make sure I really know what I'm doing before heading into the great campaign.

I really hope the system works. I'm not too sure, how you will be able to make good armored pincer movements with it, though. It seems you will be able to make every armor group a separat army and then have the infantry "garrison" the conquered area or so?
@MrrGNB8 жыл бұрын
you can still control your units individually, even when they are part of a battle plan
@TheGerudan8 жыл бұрын
zokr I know, but that would beat the point, if I end up ordering almost everything by hand again anyway.
@MrrGNB8 жыл бұрын
TheGerudan well that is the beauty of the system it is competent enough to do the rough work, requiring you only to do the fine movements, but only if you want to
@sundhaug928 жыл бұрын
Not necessarily, you use the battle plan for the main work and micro manage for small opportunities you notice yourself
@TheGerudan8 жыл бұрын
zokr If it will be anything like it was in HoI 3 the plan system couldn't even do the "rough work" since all movements have to be coordinated, pocket borders have to be defended and so on. It seems the system only works with headlong attacks. Well, I have to see next week if it will work or not, I guess.

Fallbackline the gartidon spreads over a whole state

the offensive line is also a defensive line as long as it has no battleplan started it will stay a defensive line and your units will entrench untill you start a battleplan.

I think attrition is one of the more difficult parts of the game to understand how it works. What those numbers in the supply screen (F4) means? How to interpret them? What to do? (The general advice "improve your infrastructure" will do nothing if you do not understand what are you doing, why and in what order). I know there is a wiki for it, but half of the square of the multiplication of something is not my strong point :) TX
@SangerZonvolt8 жыл бұрын
I hope that with those invasion plans needing time to prepare my spies can find out about them and warn me before they actually start. Would add a new layer to the whole espionage part of the game.
