The reason why Darcy said "homophobia" when their friends came rushing through the door is bc they interrupted Darcy and Tara's "gay moment" if that makes sense lol. I thought that was SUCH a creative joke and I found that so funny and genuine. We love Darcy!

I am so glad that we get to see the full journey of Nick figuring out himself and his sexuality. It is such a confusing time for anybody, but especially as a teen already going through so many changes. I wish I had shows like this when I was a teenager scared and confused of who I was.

I love that Nick is bi and his first romantic relationship is with a boy. I'm a lesbian and I marry a BI woman and even in the lgbtq+ people are like "aren't you afraid that she will cheat on you with a guy?". prejudice and bias between us LGBTQ is so stupid. And just wanna point that, Nick is so cute, so confident even when he is not sure of his sexuality. The moment he start to understand he is bi he also start to let people he trust know. While Ben make out with charlie for several weeks and still treated him as dirty secret. Charlie is patient with both of them, but only Nick truly like him and treats him right

I really love that we got such positive bisexual rep with Nick! The representation in this series is incredible, and as a bi woman I loved seeing Nick discover his sexuality and be met with positivity and acceptance from Charlie and their friends. And you're 100% right, bisexuality gets a lot of hate from within the community. I can't tell you how many times I saw profiles that said "if you're bi/been with a man don't message me" or just cis men fetishizing bi women, so it's all really discouraging. So getting positive bisexual rep and acceptance of it from others in the community in this show was incredible!

I love that they also explore the more serious and hard-hitting topics that unfortunately a lot of LGBTQ+ people have to deal with. Tara's and Darcy's conversation was done so perfectly, and they ended it on a positive note, which is so refreshing (so used to all of the LGBTQ+ stories being doom and gloom)

I feel like she has to keep herself from like playing around too much and upsetting the folks she loves who are taking the nonsense seriously. @@JynxRyl She truly is!! She is also in the novel Solitaire by Alice Oseman. Alice Oseman was the one that came up with the story for Heartstopper first in the form of webtoons that got adapted into graphic novels, and then finally a Netflix series. I know I've said this before, but it bares repeating because everyone should get into Alice Oseman's stories more.

But it is odd how if you are with a guy then you are straight and if you are with a girl your lesbian, like no I'm bi.

As a gay man, I get so frustrated when I see hate towards bisexuality from within the community. I've been on dating apps and saw profiles that said "will not date bisexuals".

My favorite episode. This is the one that shows community in the gay community. We have the family we are given and the family we choose; and this group is starting to look out for each other like a family. So sweet that Nick is slowly outing himself.

19:40 - I don't know but that seems like a pretty universal school experience to me. People would gossip constantly and make remarks about others dating even when they weren't or say that people liked each other non-stop. Though over here it was mostly in a straight way, people rarely mentioned anything gay except sometimes maybe they used a slur as an insult, but even then people would use the words as an insult with no real meaning behind it. It's not like they actually called people gay, they were just trying to insult someone and used the slur because they heard it used as an insult before. I don't think anyone really thought about the implications of it, which is really sad looking back at it now, because for a lot of the kids in school, they only ever heard about gayness as an insult and nothing else and the odds are some of em probably turned out to be gay themselves, just statistically speaking. Can't imagine how they felt, if they even realized it themselves. For context this is a small Hungarian school in Western Romania along the border in a small city.

I was reading a book and it was so sweet at first. This man had been married for years and his wife died, he ended up falling for a man. Then later all of that dudes friends tried to make him claim to have always been gay cause they couldn't understand that he was actually in love with his wife. The book tried to make it seem like it's okay but it's clear the writer was completely erasing and not understanding of bisexuality.

I love this episode, and it immediately shows the BIG difference between Ben and Nick. Nick is genuinely trying to figure himself out, who he is, and who he likes. He is scared of coming out to everyone, but he doesn't hesitate to tell the people he knows he can trust with this. Ben might also have been scared of coming out, but he completely ignored Charlie and treated him terribly. :) Edit: ahah, yeah, that attitude of, if you're gay or lesbian (or bi or pan) you'll like everyone who you meet so long as they're the correct gender. Like. Come on. That's not how that works. I wonder if the oversexualisation of lgbtqa+ people has to do with that, or if it's the other way around. You know, the idea that kids can't possibly find out about gay people because it's sexual, but straight people somehow are not. It's ridiculous.

Someone overheard Tao speaking about Charlie being gay and accidentally outed Charlie. And I might be wrong but Charlie doesn’t want nick going through this also x (From the book it’s explained)
