Charlie’s dad was so supportive in season 1, but it looks like his mum cuts off his dad from supporting Charlie every time. As for her, she may intend good parenting, but she really cuts him off emotionally. Charlie needed support to balance out seeing Nick and getting schoolwork done and she goes punitively hard instead of helping him find balance, and feeling good about that balance. Honestly no wonder his mental health issues are so bad. She may accept him being gay, but she obviously has no capacity for being emotionally supportive and I don’t think she could have helped him through the bullying in the past.

I wish he had a better relationship with his parents and I completely agree with what you say about his mom unfortunately
