this movie is a lesson in character development and portrayal. absolutely great. Even the fringe stories contribute to add more personality layers so that they become more human and interesting. Unforgettable.

I remember being so impressed with this movie when it just came out. Just an enormous tour-de-force of acting, casting, story-telling and directing!

At 8:10, Mann says that "one of the crew was disabled, so they picked up Waingro." What? Who was disabled? All four crew members are present - DeNiro, Kilmer, Sizemore, Trejo. So why did they hire Waingro?

That's a great question.

@@damonhackney6142 HEAT is a great movie, but it has at least 2 baffling events. Why does the crew hire Waingro for the truck robbery, and why do they attempt to kill Waingro in the packed parking lot of a restaurant full of witnesses? DeNiro's character is way too smart to make mistakes like this. He also bashes Waingro into the window and table at the restaurant, which calls attention to the crew there. Attention is the last thing they want.

Have you ever met a person like Neil? They don’t take shit from no one. So if they feel disrespected or you botched a job their gonna fuck you up no matter who’s watching or where.

Paul Merklein so he can't run away and ruin their reputation. besides, he was unpredictable and knew too much, he could have turned them in to the cops (which he eventually did).

Good question @paul. I also never understood why drucker let Chris drive away from the police ambush at the end of the movie. Drucker could’ve ID’d him personally as he just saw him at the shootout earlier that day !

Inception sounds like Heat. Heat is Christopher Nolan's favorite ever film and Nolan even paid a tribute to Heat's bank heist at the start of Dark Knight. Christopher Nolan also organized a 21st Anniversary between the cast and crew for The Oscars in 2016. Nolan loves Heat THAT much! kzbin.info/www/bejne/fYSumXacgNeNiKc
