It brought back memories for me. My friends and I would put on our bathing suits and run and play in the rain (as long as there wasn't thunder and lightning). It was glorious. Made for a perfect summer day.

I would dig a pond at a high point in the property, fill it with ducks, then fertigate with a pump and a hose. Plants go nuts for that poopy water, grass being no exception. Silvopasture would help your grass stay green in the dry months, and you could plant nut and fruit trees to feed your animals. Even certain oak species have less tannins and make great pig fodder. You could grow pecans and hazelnuts and chestnuts and walnuts and hickory nuts. So go nuts!!! 😂

Rain is such a blessing and even though I live in the Midwest being from Pasadena California I have always appreciated water in all forms. Love your channel Jason and those animals are lucky they have you keeping them safe and with plenty of water.

110 here in Central Cali, stored away all our feeds in the barn too, flooded areas with water, put all our chicken tractors under trees, ice in all our water feeders for all animals. It’s crazy hot right now, I don’t see how you do it without water out there using barrels, good luck bud 🤙

You did good! You got them all watered and checked on BEFORE the rain came and would have soaked you to the bone! As nice as rain can feel on a hot day, it's still not fun to have to work in it and I am sure your animals all appreciate having fresh water, rain or no! You are a shining example of what homesteading is meant to be and why so many of us want to join you, not because of all the hard work, but because of the compassion and care that goes into everything you do and raise. Something that is severely lacking in the foods sold in most grocery stores!

I’m with you regarding this heat. We live east of you in Advance, NC south of Winston-Salem. We had rain….Finally….last night……July 5th for about 15 minutes. Has not rained on our property since third week of May. I call this time in the hot south…..my winter. Outdoor time is limited. ALMOST, makes me miss the MN winters we used to endure. Definitely appreciating any trees that surround us. Hang in there!

Im in central NC..I have my garden and we have only had maybe 30 minutes of rain in the last month. You do become in tune with the seasons, the weather etc. I love that you came out in 100+ to check on your animals! When you have animals that is what you do. Good job.

We just had a nice thundershower. Not much. But, so grateful. They say more is coming tonight!! THANK YOU GOD!! Our heat indexes have been over 100 degrees every day here in West Tennessee. They say the heat index last week hit 111. Meanwhile my thermometer on the porch in the shade said it was 115 actually temperature. So, all thermometers tell lies or the weather apps do. I have a feeling I KNOW which one is right! YAY FOR RAIN!!! I hope you've gotten more.

If the heat is bad for you, it's bad for the animals. Water and shade is about all you can do, but at least give them some cool water for awhile. God bless y'all and keep growing. Time to water the garden as the rain keeps missing us.

You may need more shelters with your black water tanks to collect rain when it comes. Have several around the property, you can always siphon off water when needed.

I go out 3 times a day to check in the animals. I make them frozen water bottles with blueberry, mints herbs etc to keep them cool and change, change their water constantly! Yesterday i placed a bag of a solar shower for camping out in 15 minutes that water was HOT 🔥 in 1 hour the water reached 120. Insane 😮‍💨

No rain here for almost a month. Goes on each side of us, and we maybe got a "spit" of rain today. We are in Camden, SC. I was out in the heat (102 degrees actual temp) all day dropping pounds and pounds of ice on the ground in my coops to keep my 104 broiler chickens cooled. It was 106 degrees in the coops even with fans running full speed. Send some rain our way.

Here in Calaveras County CA in the Sierra foothills it's been 105*-115* since Tuesday. Maybe it's genetic 🙂since our family has been here since the 1800's gold rush, but we do ok. Now, if we lived in your area with bad humidity, we would NOT do well at all. We put lots of ice cubes in the bird waterers.
