Thanks Dustin, you nailed it, my truck is now fixed! Here's a quick test to see if this is your problem. Take the actuator off like Dustin says, then plug it in and turn the key on. When you move the heater control you should see the actuator rotate. If it doesn't, it's dead.

I just repaired my A/C automatic blend motor assembly by disassembling the unit, inspected the gears, inspected the large final drive gear and its copper fingers that slide on the variable resistor pad. I put more tension on the copper fingers and used the surplus lube from inside and applied it to the gears. Reinstalled the unit and started my 2012 GMC Sierra with the A/C on, varied the temp setting cold to hot and back again, IT WORKS! Just my time and no parts.

I’d love to know how you get that far left screw back in that holds up the plastic shield.

I had this actuator malfunction on our 1994 Suburban (clicking noise from bad gear, shop replaced). And our 2005 Yukon (clicking noise from bad gear, I replaced). And recently on our 2014 Yukon (no clicking, I cleaned out and re-installed the actuator). I needed a 7mm socket to remove the black cover. And I needed to grind down a 5.5mm socket shorter at both ends or use a cut-down 5.5mm nutsetter and 1/4 inch combination wrench to R&R the screws for the actuator itself. Why I'm posting: for the left-most actuator screw, it was easier to access from the driver footwell, in front of the console; one can actually see that screw from that side.

My Chevy Silverado was doing the same thing, the driver's side was always full hot, and the passenger side was cold. I ordered and put in a new actuator, and the driver's side now works great, but instantly as soon as I put in the new actuator the passenger side went bad and now permanently blows hot.

My 2003 Silverado troubles began when #5 fan speed setting quit. Then the control for the dash, defrost, floor etc quit, now I’m having this issue with only hot air blowing on both sides. WTH?

My air messes up on the driver side but when I turn my truck off and turn it back on it fixes it. You think this is the problem?
@NJP7610 ай бұрын
Same thing in my Avalanche. Seems to reset itself each time I start the engine. Sometimes it sets itself to full hot, and sometimes it works normally. Almost seems more like a controller issue that an actuator issue.

@@NJP76 I was told it’s the vent door. They gotta pull the dash out to get to it

Someone on u tube may have a fix that you can do manually for summer months and then change back for winter months. Keep searching if you don't want to pay a bunch of money.

@@ricknelson4793 We just replaced the controller unit today. After a couple of recalibrations it seems to be functioning as it should now. All of the actuators are working as well. Pretty easy fix without taking the whole dash out.

I just shut truck off and restart or remove the hvac fuse from side fuse panel (can't change hot to cold if you remove fuse and you have to do it while in cold mode), but since it's so easy... guess I'll fix it. Thanks
