Thank you so much Matt. I was in the hospital 5 years ago with a rare brain illness and one of my best buddies was at our home when the Fujitsu Unit was installed and since then he has always cleaned the filters for me. He has moved 5 hours away so I decided to try to clean them on my own. Certainly not rocket science but I couldn’t close it properly after everything was cleaned. I tried a1/2 dz times & KZbind it. Your video was the first one I tried and being a trainer when I worked I certainly appreciated your training style. Of course when I powered it back up I forgot it takes 3 mins to throw heat. The satisfaction of it working was almost like playing a grilse at our camp on the SWM in NB. Again thanks for me making me feel normal.

Hi - I find that inevitably, some airborne cooking oil will mix with the fur, dander, and dust that accumulates on the large filters, making rinsing with water inadequate. I spray the filters liberally with Fantastic and let them sit a few minutes before rinsing with hot water. If they look off-color, a second spraying, wait, and rinse cycle is warranted. You can hasten cleaning by using a soft, fine bristle nail brush and gently stroking the built-up dust, mold, etc. before rinsing. That makes the filters sparkle, and removing any built-up grease makes them easier to clean next time, and not as much of a dirt anchor and food source for mold and pathogens. Air drying thoroughly before reinstallation is important, as well. In summer, the vent flaps will condense moisture from the air when the unit shuts off, because the vent flaps are cold; that moisture will leave a dirty residue that is likewise a bacteria and mold culture medium. A quick pass with a sponge wetted with Fantastic will break up the residue, which can then be rinsed off with a clean sponge. Looks, smells, and IS clean and healthful.

Before watching this video. I cleaned my filters using hot water with Palmolive dish soap. To scrub I used a brillow pad not knowing the damage that it can cause. I still run my unit. What is the consequence of doing so. Honestly curious I do not want to further damage the machine. The filters that I cleaned we're the main ones that you showed on how to properly clean.

Great video! Thank you for the info. How often do you recommend cleaning the intake filters?
@vaughanwoodruff8 жыл бұрын
+Karen Salemi It really depends upon the air quality in your home. You will see various matter buildup on the filter, much as lint accumulates on the screen of a clothes dryer. Like with a dryer, as the filter gathers contaminants (such as dust, hair, candle residue, etc.) the efficiency of the unit decreases. I recommend checking it after 2-3 weeks of continued operation to see how much has accumulated.

Excellent video--best, clearest "real world" explanation of what's what. Also, the only one that really covers the "air cleaning" filters being completely unnecessary for the unit to run correctly. The one in my new house didn't have 'em, and I was wondering how necessary they might be, and if they really seem to do anything for people. (My unit and air quality seem absolutely fine so not bothering with them myself.)

Hi great video just a quick question I have a toshiba inverter carrier It seems to leak water on side and down my wall any suggestions thx
@vaughanwoodruff5 жыл бұрын
That's condensate - it's due to either a trap in the condensate line, the indoor unit not being level, or an obstruction in the condensate line. If this is a new unit with this issue, it's likely an installation issue. Is this is the first time it has shown up after years of operation, it might be insect nests in the condensate line. We have seen a rare occurrence of a leak in the condensate pan, but that a hundred-in-one shot. Good luck!

HI. thx for effort I learned something watching it. But may I ask you if you can explain what for and how we use option DRY from our remote control that when i start it it seems like it does nothing. and I hoped it may be dehumidifier.
@vaughanwoodruff7 жыл бұрын
Dry mode is meant to dehumidify. It is essentially a mellow form of A/C. The indoor unit fan speed remains constant (and low), and the outdoor compressor runs towards the bottom of its range. Indoor moisture condenses on the coil and is expelled outside. You can make it more aggressive by turning down the set temperature, but it has its limitations. If it is not drying the air enough for you, I suggest using the "Cool" mode. Keep in mind that if you use the unit to dehumidify in a space that stays in the 60F range (i.e. a basement), you will need some further work arounds to get it to dehumidify the space.
@okrimko7 жыл бұрын
thank you very much for this clarification cuz I always thought that it does nothing because I hear no sound no matter how long I leave it to work on that DRY mode. I was not sure if it really does dehum. so now am sure I dont need to buy dehumidifier cuz my A/C is doing the job!

Matt I cleaned my filters like I have many of times and now my front door that goes up will not go p all the way and when it starts to run the door will fall all the way down. What or how do i fix this?
@insourcerenewables8905 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay... the door typically won't stay up due to a broken gear on the intake grille cover (the part that goes up) or if the dark gray cover behind it pulls out when the door goes up. If it is the gear, the unit will continue to run without lights blinking an error code. The fix is as simple as taking of a couple of screws, replacing the gear, and replacing the screws. The broken gear should be under Fujitsu's parts warranty. The other issue requires a shim to the female part of the cover clasp. It takes about 30 minutes for a technician to fix with the correct part.

I have the same problem as Selle but no answers? My front door will not automatically open when power is on. Air is still coming out and no flashing “warning” light?
@vaughanwoodruff5 жыл бұрын
This is a common issue with the RLS2 line. It is likely that the gear on the door is cracked, thus it won't engage when the wheel in the unit turns to open the door.

Got the exact same problem... What's more, I have to put tape to hold the hood because it won't come up on its own when I turn the machine back on...
@insourcerenewables8905 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the delay - if the front door doesn't stay up, it is typically because the gear on the intake grille cover (the part that goes up) is broken. It is a reasonably simple repair that requires removing and replacing a few screws and a new gear. The part should be covered under warranty.
@insourcerenewables8905 жыл бұрын
@@curieusedi, there was an issue with the early RLS2 units that led Fujitsu to develop a plastic shim that is placed adjacent to the female portion of the clasp that keeps the darker gray cover under the intake grille cover secured to the unit. We have seen several other approaches to resolve this issue - a technician should be able to resolve it with the right parts in 30 minutes.

How often do you recommend the screens be washed?
@insourcerenewables8905 жыл бұрын
It depends upon the air quality in your home and how much you use the unit. We recommend inspecting the screens every couple of weeks after you have put them in to see how quickly debris accumulates on the filter. For most homes, the filters need to be cleaned every couple of months.

I have this unit, took off the filters and cleaned them. The door closes fine but when the door starts to slowly move up, it gets to the top and just falls closed again. No error code but the unit works but the door is closed so the air doesn't flow. I have had to duct tape the door open to keep the room cool. Do you know how to make the gears catch again?
@vaughanwoodruff5 жыл бұрын
If it happened following a filter cleaning, I am suspicious that the cover may not be properly reseated. Typically this would trigger an error code, so it is quite possible that the plastic gear on the cover is broken. They crack sometimes, which requires replacement.

my fujitsu rls2 is spitting out water is there any reason why? or how i can fix it?
@vaughanwoodruff6 жыл бұрын
This is a condensate issue. There are typically three reasons this might occur: (1) the indoor unit is out of level and is accumulating condensate, (2) there is a trap in the condensate line or the condensate line is not sloping to drain, or (3) the condensate drain is plugged. Sometimes spiders or other insects will build in the condensate line - you can look in the end of the condensate drain to make sure there is no stinging critter there and then blow into the condensate line to dislodge any webs, etc.
@wahdaerff6 жыл бұрын
Vaughan Woodruff thank you so much for replying back. Do I need a ladder to check? Or can I do this from the inside? This unit is on the 2nd floor
@vaughanwoodruff6 жыл бұрын
The termination of the condensate drain is likely outside near the ground. Look for a corrugated flexible plastic line (looks like the tubing kids spin fast to make a whistling sound) or PVC line. That would be the one to blow into.
@joelmartin25494 жыл бұрын
My unit is throwing this error code even though it IS closed correctly. It has done this many times over the few years I’ve had the unit, but I’ve normally been able to solve it by turning the breaker of for a few minutes. This time nothing works, does anyone have any ideas?
@vaughanwoodruff4 жыл бұрын
Joel, if you have the intake grille cover open (with the orange kickstand up), the switch is located on the bottom right corner (below the kickstand and beside the electrical cover). If you hold that in and the code doesn't clear, you have a bad switch. If you hold it in and it does clear, there is an issue with the seating of the grille cover.
@joelmartin25494 жыл бұрын
Vaughan Woodruff, I’ve been thinking it may be the switch, the thing is it’s been a problem for awhile now so I’m thinking it may have been going out for awhile now.

You should never seperate the top lid from the bottom one, or put your hands between them. You should not touch the upper lid at all, except when you press it on those 3 spots at the end. You close and open the lid by little handles on the side at the same side, and close it like that, then press the whole lid on those 3 spots. You handled that lid completely wrong. You can read the same in the manual. Thqt's why you got that error at the end, which is not supposed to happen.
